Billy Ray Cyrus and Martina Mcbride are among the artists who will commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Beatles' Hollywood Bowl show in Los Angeles this weekend. The Fab Four performed at the fabled venue on 23 August, 1964, and now a group of famous fans are hoping to recreate the musical magic onstage by performing their renditions of Beatles tunes.
Former Eurythmics star Dave Stewart, Michelle Branch and Mary Lambert will also be among the stars paying tribute to Paul McCartney and his bandmates at the three shows planned for Friday night (22Aug14), Saturday and Sunday (23-24Aug14), while veteran U.S. TV host Bob Eubanks, who produced the Beatles' original appearance at the Hollywood Bowl, will also appear onstage.
The all-star line-up will change every night, but the songs performed will all be from the Beatles' 1964 Hollywood Bowl setlist - beginning with their hit Twist and Shout and ending with a cover of Little Richard's Long Tall Sally.
The second half of each gig will feature songs the band would later release.
Heavy rockers Megadeth have been forced to scrap plans to press ahead with their concert in Tel Aviv, Israel on Wednesday (06Aug14) due to safety concerns as the violence in the Middle East continues to rise. Frontman Dave Mustaine recently made it known that he was determined to honour the band's commitment to fans in Israel, defiantly insisting he's "not a politician, but a musician", and adding, "At the end of the day, I don't take s**t from anybody" as he vowed to perform as scheduled.
However, late on Monday (04Aug14), management officials announced they have since decided to cancel the show at the Tel Aviv Exhibition Center as the Israeli/Palestinian conflict rumbles on.
A statement posted on Megadeth's website reads: "Due to an inability to confirm the guaranteed passage of the band and their gear into Tel Aviv in time for the show, the upcoming Megadeth concert, scheduled for Wednesday, August 6, 2014, has been cancelled.
"The band was looking forward to this concert and is disappointed they will not be able to put on the show for their fans, but expects to return to Tel Aviv on their next international tour."
Megadeth are the latest musicians to pull live dates in Israel due to the political unrest - Cee Lo Green's show in Jerusalem on 19 August (14) has also been axed, in addition to gigs by Neil Young, Backstreet Boys and Paul Anka.
Singer Cee Lo Green is the latest musician to cancel an upcoming gig in Israel due to political unrest in the region. The Forget You hitmaker was slated to play a concert in Jerusalem on 19 August (14), but has decided to follow suit with artists such as Neil Young & Crazy Horse, Paul Anka and Backstreet Boys in calling the gig off.
Israel show promoter Carmi D. Wurtman confirms the cancellation to The Hollywood Reporter and says, "The artist and his crew really wanted to come, but unfortunately we were the ones who had to postpone it because this is not the right time to advertise and push a concert and also because Israel Defense Forces' regional Home Front Command allows gathering of up to a thousand people only."
Plans are underway to reschedule the concert at the city's Independence Park for this autumn (14).
The upcoming Hadera River Park's BoomBox Festival, featuring headliner Wyclef Jean, has also been delayed, but thrash-metal band Megadeth have decided to go on with their concert on Wednesday (06Aug14) at Tel Aviv's convention centre.
Frontman Dave Mustaine tells news website Ynet, that "at the end of the day, I don't take s**t from anybody" and insists he's "not a politician, but a musician".

On the off chance that you’ve managed to avoid the Internet, television, newspapers or other people for the last few months – in which case, welcome back! That one Iggy Azalea song is still a thing and Legolas and the Biebs are feuding now – allow us to remind you that Guardians of the Galaxy opens today. Although, chances are even the most remote parts of the world are still abuzz at the chance to see Andy Dwyer, Neytiri, and the Vin Diesel-tree save the universe. As with every major and minor cultural event, Twitter is full of people sharing their excitement, opinions, criticisms and photos of the snacks they got at the concession stand. And even though celebrities might have cooler jobs and better hair than the rest of us, they too are unable to resist the allure of the latest Marvel movie, or the joy of tweeting about it.
Some of them couldn't contain their excitement (or their cosplay costumes):
So excited for Guardians of The Galaxy! Gonna see it dressed as my favorite character! #GOTG pic.twitter.com/MTWNCBTVRv
— Paul F. Tompkins (@PFTompkins) August 1, 2014
A few couldn't resist bragging about being into Guardians of the Galaxy before it was cool:
I have been excited for #GuardiansOfTheGalaxy since @prattprattpratt had a gut and @KarenGillan2 had long hair! CAN'T WAIT @JamesGunn!!!
— Ben Schwartz (@rejectedjokes) July 30, 2014
There were a handful of concise reviews:
Guardians of the Galaxy is the best one.
— Kumail Nanjiani (@kumailn) August 1, 2014
And discussions about who really stole the show:
I loved GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY. It's funny and has heart but the big revelation was how great @DaveBautista is as Drax.
— Gerry Duggan (@GerryDuggan) August 1, 2014
But mostly, people just wanted to share a few general observations about the film:
Of all the “blockbuster summer movies” so far this summer the only one people seem to be talking about is Guardians of the Galaxy
— Colin Hanks (@ColinHanks) August 1, 2014
Just becuase you're in show business, that doesn't mean you won't fall in love with Chris Pratt:
The Year of Chris Pratt begins...now. #GuardiansOfTheGalaxy
— Ken Tremendous (@KenTremendous) July 31, 2014
Although he might have some competition in the celebrity friend/nerd cred department:
Let’s talk for a second about @leepace in #GuardiansOfTheGalaxy. Flawless. That is all. Go follow him. Before everyone else does.
— Nathan Fillion (@NathanFillion) July 29, 2014
And there was absolutely nothing that could potentially cause people to overreact and start reports of a feud. Nothing at all.
Good luck to Mr @JamesGunn this weekend. Truly one of the good guys x

You can catch Guardians of the Galaxy in theaters everywhere to judge it for yourself. And then tweet about it, of course.
Former Nirvana rocker Chad Channing has opened the door for a return to the band by insisting he would love an onstage reunion with Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic. Channing joined the band in 1998 but left by mutual agreement in 1990, just over a year before they shot to global superstardom with their 1991 album Nevermind.
He is adamant he still considers himself an honourary member of the group and now he has spoken out about his hopes for a reunion.
Channing tells NME magazine, "It'd maybe be something like Dave playing guitar and singing and Krist doing bass. That'd be about the only arrangement I could think of that we could pull off."
In July last year (13), Grohl and Novoselic performed together in Seattle, Washington with Sir Paul McCartney - it was only the second time they have shared a stage in their hometown since Nirvana's frontman Kurt Cobain died in 1994.
British pop star Paul Heaton has recalled his terror as he was chased from a London hotel by a Saudi royal's irate bodyguard. The former The Beautiful South frontman once tried to sneak into London's Columbia Hotel for an after-hours drink with his bandmate Dave Rotheray, but they were thwarted by a security worker.
The burly bouncer threatened to kill Heaton and he was only saved by the arrival of cops, who then arrested the singer and threw him in a cell for 18 hours.
Heaton tells Q magazine that he and Rotheray were caught as they tried to climb through an open window at the hotel so they could pose as guests and buy booze at the bar.
He says, "(I) was met by a massive bloke in Arabian gear, running at me screaming, 'I kill you!'. Turns out he was bodyguard to this rich Saudi princess staying there... All for a late-night drink."
Veteran heavy rocker Dave Lombardo has joined Casey Chaos' group Amen for an upcoming album and tour. The former Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo will join Chaos and Amen's latest line-up, featuring bassist John Fahnestock and guitarist Duke Decter, when the band tours Europe in August (14).
Meanwhile, the five-piece has started work on a new album.
Lombardo says, "I am very proud to have been asked to be part of this amazing production. My career in thrash was created from my love of the punk genre. There is an excitement in this particular style of music that's vital for me. It's aggressive, honest and needed."
The drummer parted company with Slayer last year (13) following a contract dispute with the other members of the group. He has since been replaced by Paul Bostaph, who was Slayer's drummer from 1992 until 2001.
Rocker Dave Grohl has scored his own TV series - he'll front a new show about America's most famous recording studios. The Foo Fighters frontman will host and produce the as-yet-untitled programme for America's HBO network.
The series will expand on Grohl's acclaimed Sound City documentary, in which he chronicled the story of fabled Los Angeles recording space Sound City Studios, where Nirvana recorded their classic album Nevermind.
For the new series, Grohl will go beyond the Los Angeles city limits and visit recording studios in New York, Chicago, Seattle, and Nashville.
Grohl will also interview musicians, like KISS star Paul Stanley, Heart's Nancy Wilson and The Eagles' Joe Walsh, who have recorded albums at each facility.
