Australian pop duo The Veronicas are preparing to make a comeback after signing a new deal with bosses at Sony Music. In 2010, twin sisters Jessica and Lisa Origliasso were in the studio recording tracks for their third album, but the project was put on hold due to a conflict with executives at their label, Warner Bros Records.
They split from the label last October (13).
In a new video posted on YouTube.com, the sisters have now announced they have inked a new deal with bosses at Sony Music and are getting ready to release a new album.
In the video, the duo is seen in the recording studio, and the clip previews new tracks called Did You Miss Me and Back to You.
The Veronicas haven't released a new record since Hook Me Up in 2007.
Pop star-turned-TV presenter Dannii Minogue has confirmed she is dating music producer Adrian Newman and insists she is "happy" with her new man. Hollywood actor Russell Crowe, Roxy Music legend Brian Eno and rocker Joe Perry are among the stars who have offered tributes to singer Chrissy Amphlett following her death on Sunday (21Apr13). The former Divinyls frontwoman passed away at her home in New York City after a long battle with multiple sclerosis and breast cancer, and her loss has prompted an outpouring of messages from her famous friends and fans.
Crowe appeared on stage with Amphlett in a 1988 Australian production of Willy Russell's musical Blood Brothers, and he recalled the last time he saw his friend during a meeting at the Royal Botanic Gardens in Sydney, Australia.
In a post on Twitter.com, he writes, "RIP Chrissie Amphlett (sic), played my mum in Blood Brothers,1988... Dear Chrissie (sic), The last time I saw you was in the Botanic Gardens, loving life and reciting verse. That's how I'll remember you, your boy, R."
Eno adds, "RIP Chrissy Amphlett, lead vocalist with The Divinyls" while Madden writes, "Much love, respect & wishes for Chrissy Amphlett. Sending my heart out to your friends & family. A very beautiful soul. Rest in Peace."
Australian rocker Jimmy Barnes adds, "RIP my dear friend Chrissie (sic) love you and will miss you," and Aerosmith star Perry writes, "To family and fans my condolences go out to Chrissy Amplett (sic) of Australia's rock band the Divinyals (sic)."
Fellow Australian singer, Jessica Origliasso of The Veronicas, mourned the loss of a music icon, adding, "Just heard the news Australian female musical icon Chrissy Amphlett lost her battle with cancer today. I feel blessed to have met such a strong, fierce female, who paved the way for bada** rock & roll everywhere, forever. RIP."
Another Australian pop star, Delta Goodrem, adds, "Australia has lost one of its great voices with the passing of Chrissy Amphlett, much respect."
Aussie music mogul Ian 'Molly' Meldrum was a longtime friend of Amphlett and her drummer husband Charley Drayton and he has also expressed his grief following her passing. He says, "It's devastating news. I absolutely adored her. Right at the start of her career with the Divinyls she also terrified me... We became good friends... I was friends with her mother as well. Chrissy was just such a wonderful person and so, so talented. It's incredibly sad news."
The High School Musical star headed to a parlour owned by Bang Bang, the man responsible for Rihanna's inkings, after a show during New York Fashion Week.
MTV VJ Ruby Rose accompanied the 22 year old to the salon and updated her fans on Twitter.com about Hudgens' progress.
In a series of posts, she writes, "Please don't blame me... But I may have convinced Vanessa Hudgens to get a tattoo... Now. Her first. By bang bang. Vanessa is deciding between her neck or ribs what do you guys think?"
Hudgens went through with the inking, and Rose unveiled the results in a picture on her microblogging page - the star has a butterfly tattooed on her neck.
She wasn't the only celebrity to go under the needle on Wednesday - Kelly Rowland and The Veronicas star Jessica Origliasso are also sporting new inkings.
Viola Hastings (Amanda Bynes) is expected to become her family’s next debutante but--much to her mother’s dismay--she would rather be the next great female soccer star. When her high school cuts the girls soccer team however Viola tries out for the guys team. She thinks maybe she has an in because her boyfriend Justin (Robert Hoffman) is the captain. But alas they laugh her off the field. So Viola decides to assume her twin brother Sebastian’s (James Kirk) identity at his new school and lead the boys soccer team to a win against her now ex-boyfriend’s team. What she doesn’t expect is to fall in love with her new roommate Duke (Channing Tatum) who happens to like Olivia (Laura Ramsey) who actually likes Sebastian but doesn’t know Sebastian is actually Viola. Oh what a tangled web. Cutesy Bynes (What A Girl Wants) isn’t very convincing disguised as a boy. She unsuccessfully tries to compensate her lack of ability by using awkward facial expressions and adopting a deep voice that sounds more hillbilly than anything else which she can’t even keep consistent. You’re actually embarrassed for her. On the flip side with unbelievable good looks Channing Tatum (Coach Carter) is great eye candy. He can also play the sensitive good guy making you root for him the whole way whether on the soccer field or when he’s getting the girl. And it would have been nice to see James Kirk as the real Sebastian for a little longer than five minutes. He seems to have most promise. Depending on which way you look at it director Andy Fickman could have either tried harder to bring this Twelfth Night-inspired film up to date or he could have cut it way down. The beginning starts out pleasantly enough moving pretty quickly with a few quirky laugh-out-loud moments. The montage scene in which Duke is teaching Sebastian (who is really Viola) how to improve his (her) soccer skills is entertaining. It’s probably because no one is speaking and all you can hear is the rockin’ soundtrack which includes songs from the All-American Rejects and The Veronicas. Definitely the best part of the movie. But soon She's the Man is dragging to the point where it should have ended--successfully--five times over.
