British character actor Francis Matthews has died, aged 86. The TV regular provided the voice of Captain Scarlet in puppet-maker Gerry Anderson's 1960s TV show, and portrayed private detective Paul Temple in the BBC series of the same name from 1969.
Matthews also appeared in Hammer horror films including The Revenge of Frankenstein and Dracula: Prince of Darkness and the Morecambe and Wise movies The Intelligence Men and That Riviera Touch.
He was cast as puppet hero Captain Scarlet because he sounded like movie star Cary Grant, and ironically voiced Grant in the 2004 TV movie Cary Comes Home.

A campaign by stars including Sir Paul McCartney, Pamela Anderson and Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan to save an abused elephant is finally over after the creature arrived at a welfare sanctuary on Friday (06Jun14). Officials at People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) launched a drive to save Sunder from seven years of misery at the Jyotiba Temple in Maharashtra, India in 2012.
They enlisted stars including The Beatles legend McCartney, Baywatch actress Anderson, and Indian screen favourite Bachchan to help publicise the campaign, and the celebrities finally had something to celebrate on Friday when the poorly pachyderm arrived at an animal sanctuary near Bangalore.
The transfer came after judges at the Supreme Court of India ordered the implementation of a Bombay High Court order to release Sunder to the elephant care centre by 15 June (14).
Gwyneth Paltrow has baffled fans by suggesting water can be upset by mean words. The Oscar winner left readers of her Goop.com website confused after detailing the work of Japanese scientist Masaru Emoto, whose experiments suggest the molecular structure of water can be affected by human emotions.
She writes, "I am fascinated by the growing science behind the energy of consciousness and its effects on matter. I have long had Dr. Emoto's coffee table book on how negativity changes the structure of water, how the molecules behave differently depending on the words or music being expressed around it."
She then enlists the help of Dr. Habib Sadeghi to explain the wacky theory, claiming that freezing water in vials labelled with kind phrases produces snowflake-like crystals, while specimens emblazoned with negative words freeze in "clumps".
He writes, "In his experiments, Emoto poured pure water into vials labelled with negative phrases like 'I hate you' or 'Fear'. After 24 hours, the water was frozen, and no longer crystallised under the microscope: It yielded grey, misshapen clumps instead of beautiful lace-like crystals. "In contrast, Emoto placed labels that said things like 'I love you' or 'Peace' on vials of polluted water, and after 24 hours, they produced gleaming, perfectly hexagonal crystals."
Tyler, The Creator is eager to move beyond the world of hip-hop after confessing he "hates rapping". The emcee first garnered attention on the music scene as the co-founder of alternative rap group Odd Future in 2010, but just a few years later, Tyler, real name Tyler Okonma, is ready to move on from his rap career.
In an interview with Larry King on his web series, Tyler admits, "I hate rapping. It puts you in this box... I'm talented enough to do other things. I don't know, I'm pretty bored with it. It's not interesting."
As for what he thinks he will do instead, Tyler is eyeing a career in movies, adding, "In the future, I want to do films. I want people to mention my name next to (directors) Wes Anderson or Quentin Tarantino. I don't want my name to be mentioned next to other rappers at all."
