Missy Elliott's Super Bowl half-time show performance was marred by Bobbi Kristina Brown's health emergency the day before the big game - because the troubled youngster's late mum Whitney Houston asked the rapper to look out for her daughter. Brown was hospitalised on Saturday (31Jan15) after her husband Nick Gordon found the 21 year old face down and unresponsive in a bathtub at their home in Roswell, Georgia.
Reports suggest she is breathing with the help of a ventilator and Elliott admits the news hung heavily over her as she prepared to join Katy Perry at the Super Bowl on Sunday (01Feb15).
Following a tweet she aimed at those who thought Brown's near-drowning was a joke, the rapper told Yahoo Celebrity's The Insider, "Bobbi is like a little sister to me. I have been very close to her mother. One thing that her mother said to me before she passed away was to make sure Bobbi Kristina was straight, so my prayers for healing (are) that she comes out and be around people that love her (sic)."
Bobby Brown has released a statement about his daughter Bobbi Kristina's weekend health emergency, begging for privacy as she recovers from a near-drowning. The 21 year old was found face down in a bathtub by her husband Nick Gordon, who performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on her before emergency medics arrived at the couple's home and took unconscious Brown to a nearby hospital.
Amid conflicting reports suggesting Bobbi Kristina is both stable and suffering from low brain function, her father, who rushed to be at her bedside on Saturday (31Jan15), has broken his silence and released an official statement.
It reads: "Privacy is requested in this matter. Please allow for my family to deal with this matter and give my daughter the love and support she needs at this time."
Meanwhile, the My Prerogative singer's lawyer adds, "The report that Bobbi Kristina Brown has been taken to the hospital in Atlanta, Georgia is accurate. No additional information will be forthcoming."
The incident comes almost three years to the day Bobbi Kristina's mother, Whitney Houston, drowned in a bathtub in a Beverly Hills hotel. The soul superstar's death was drug related.
Meanwhile, stars have reacted to the news of Bobbi Kristina's hospitalisation, with Missy Elliott and Ciara among those who have taken to social media to offer support to the 21 year old.
The rapper tweets, "Still Praying 4 Bobbi Kristina I see sum (sic) ppl (people) making jokes. She lost her mom thats tougher than u may think 2 deal with," while Ciara adds, "Prayers For Bobbi Kristina", and songwriter Diane Warren, who wrote Whitney Houston hits Could I Have This Kiss Forever and I Didn't Know My Own Strength, writes, "hope Bobbi Kristina gets the help she needs Poor thing, almost 3 yrs to the day her mom passed and the same thing almost happened to her."
One Direction hunk Harry Styles has reportedly jetted off to Arizona to celebrate his 21st birthday at Sunday's (01Feb15) Super Bowl game. The British pop star is said to be a huge fan of American football and is pleased he can ring in his landmark day at the huge sporting spectacle, which will see the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots compete.
A source tells Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper, "He couldn't have planned his birthday better. He's over the moon to be spending his special day at such a huge event. It was a no-brainer that this is where he was going to be for his 21st. Harry can't wait to experience the atmosphere the day has to offer. It's going to be huge."
He'll also enjoy Katy Perry's half-time show - the pop superstar is scheduled to perform alongside rocker Lenny Kravitz and Missy Elliott as part of the big gig.
British funnyman Stephen Fry has shared details of his weekend (17-18Jan15) wedding by posting pictures from his big day online. The 57-year-old actor/comedian married Elliot Spencer, 27, in a small ceremony in the town of Dereham, England on Saturday (17Jan15), just days after publicly confirming their engagement.
Fry has now shared the couple's private snaps on his Twitter.com page. One shot, which was originally posted online by Spencer, shows the couple in their wedding suits and is captioned "Groom And Groom".
In another picture, the newly-weds are seen at home cutting the cake.
Fry adds, "On Saturday afternoon we did have cake, Elliott Spencer and I. And it was good."
Stephen Fry appeared at a court in Wales on Wednesday (07Jan15) to support his fiance Elliott Spencer as he was slapped with a driving ban just a day after their engagement was confirmed. Spencer, 27, appeared at Cwmbran Magistrates' Court in south Wales to face claims he was caught speeding at 101 miles per hour (163 kilometres per hour) while the couple was travelling to the Hay-on-Wye Literature Festival last May (14).
Fry was in court to support his fiance, and Spencer's attorney Mark Wyeth, QC, revealed the star persuaded his partner to break the speed limit to avoid being late.
He added that Fry "assumes all responsibility because it was his decision that made Spencer put his foot down".
Spencer was slapped with a seven-day driving ban and was ordered to pay a $160 (£100) fine, costs of $140 (£85) and $32 (£20) victim surcharge.
Fry confirmed his engagement to Spencer on Tuesday (06Jan14).

Nobody ever taught me how to dougie, but I can still lean like a cholo, do the rockaway (lean back), and cupid shuffle all over the place. Any time, day or night. In fact, my "How-To" speech in high school was "How To Pop, Lock, and Drop It." Perhaps I shouldn't say that so proudly, but I know I'm not the only one who busted out these moves, nor can I resist them when I hear them playing now.
Chicken Noodle Soup
I've always loved this song (don't ask), but have always been baffled by why anyone would ever want a chicken noodle soup with a soda on the side? Whatever, the dance is still fun.
Pop, Lock, & Drop It
"You movin' that thing around as if you practice in the mirror." Um, yes. Yes, I do practice in the mirror. How else would you know how good your butt looks on your way up from dropping? C'mon, Huey.
Walk It Out
I like to try to dance to everything UNK says in this song. I hit the dance floor (with my hands), then I bend my back low. I only just found out that he's saying "do it with no hands," and my years of doing this dance without pants now seem mildly regrettable.
Like a Cholo
All the homies, they know what I mean. This is one of the most fun dances to do, as long as you aren't standing next to someone else who is leaning like a cholo. You don't have to do a whole lot, just enough.
I guess this one wouldn't actually be considered a dance, since it just involves adjusting one's pants, decidedly not dancing, and doing the rockaway.
Crank That (Soulja Boy)
I can very proudly say I have never done this dance, on principle. I don't know what that principle is (I can lie and pretend it's that I don't want to endorse the "superman" aspect of the routine and its vulgar meaning, but I would be a hypocrite since I never hesitate to shout "skeet, skeet, skeet," during "Get Low"). I do respect it as much as one can respect this sort of thing, though.
If I were capable of feeling shame, this dance would probably be one of the main sources. I don't know why we ever let this happen, or why I still do it. I have no defense here. It's fun?
Teach Me How To Dougie
You wouldn't believe me if I told you how many times I've watched the YouTube tutorial to this dance unsuccessfully. Halfway through, I intentionally do something ridiculous as a defense mechanism. I have seen some seriously impressive dougies in my day, and I will remain eternally envious of those who are capable.
Lean Wit It, Rock Wit It
These dance crazes can get a bit tricky now, because I'm still not entirely sure what the difference is between leaning back and leaning wit it, rocking wit it, if I'm being honest. I think maybe you don't pull up your pants before doing this one.
Bye Bye Bye
Is it even possible to listen to this song without the hand movements? I really don't think it is.
You're a Jerk
I can't do this one without falling. I'm sure it's enjoyable though.
The Ketchup Song
I think I may have nailed this dance at one point, maybe. I'm not sure. My hands just always spazzed out and I played it cool. Confidence is key for most of these, anyway. Right?
Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)
I am not going to make an "I'ma let you finish" reference. I am not going to make a "I'ma let you finish reference." I am not. Ugh, but COME ON. It really is one of the best videos of all time! Of ALL TIME!
"Wobble" is way more fun, way more enjoyable for dances and whatnot. I just find it kind of hard to do (I said, don't judge me). That's why I've also listed "Get Silly," because its level of difficulty makes me feel better about myself. We all know "Wobble" is better, but let's still be grateful to V.I.C. for both of these gems.
1, 2 Step
Ciara is the greatest dancer of her generation, arguably on earth. It all started with this very basic dance that I still try to bust out every time I hear it (which is quite often since the "Goodies" album is a staple of my listening habits). Infinite bonus points for Missy Elliott's rap. This dance really is sophisticated fun.
One of my first nights in college was spent learning to do this dance with my new floormates and my R.A. It took us way longer than I'm willing to admit before we got it down, but now it fills me with the utmost happiness to shimmy (x4) to the right, then the left (x4), then kick (x4), then walk it by myself (x2).
Cha Cha Slide
If there is anyone reading this that has never done the "Cha Cha Slide," that needs to be amended right now. Literally anyone can do it. It's easy to follow along to. Pro tip: when you're told to "Charlie Brown," just stand absolutely still and observe what everybody else is doing. Now, don't you feel better about yourself?
Joanna Dunham, the British actress who landed the role of Mary Magdalene in The Greatest Story Ever Told thanks to a recommendation from Marilyn Monroe, has died, aged 78. She impressed Monroe onstage as part of a touring production of Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet and the movie icon told studio executives to consider her for the role opposite Charlton Heston in the 1965 biblical epic.
Dunham also appeared in 1970's A Day at the Beach and the 1971 horror classic The House That Dripped Blood, opposite fellow Brits Denholm Elliott, Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee.
She also appeared on British TV in hit series like Van der Valk and Are You Being Served?
Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift and Jessica Chastain are among the stars who have taken to the Internet to mark 13 years since the terrorist atrocities of 9/11. New York City was devastated by the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon on 11 September, 2001, which - along with a downed airliner in Pennsylvania on the same day - claimed almost 3,000 lives.
Some of the world's biggest stars joined together on Thursday (11Sep14) to mark 13 years since the horrifying events, with pop superstar Lady Gaga writing in a post on her Twitter.com page, "Today we remember and honour all the lives + families ruined by the tragedy of 9/11. Practice love in their memory today #WeWillNeverForget (sic)."
Fellow singer Taylor Swift reveals she recently visited the 9/11 memorial site in New York City and it had a profound effect on her: "Visiting the @Sept11Memorial this year was something I'll never forget, in memory of a day we will always remember with tears in our eyes."
Hollywood actress Chastain urged fans to visit the 9/11 memorial museum in the Big Apple, tweeting, "Today the 9/11 museum is open to the public. We remember the lives that were lost this day 13 years ago."
LeAnn Rimes simply writes, "September 11 #NeverForget #September11 (sic)," while actor Gary Sinise adds, "Remembering all those lost in terrorist attack 13 years ago, and remembering with gratitude all who have stepped up to serve. Never Forget."
Other tributes have come in from singer Chris Brown, hip-hop stars Missy Elliott and Queen Latifah, music mogul Russell Simmons, rocker Bret Michaels, and John Stamos, Alyssa Milano, Gabrielle Union and singer Chely Wright.
"#Aaliyah there's not a day that goes by that me @Timbaland @Ginuwine Magoo don't think of u. Your (sic) a 1 in a Million! #original". Rapper Missy Elliott honours her late friend and collaborator, tragic R&B singer Aaliyah, on the 13th anniversary of her death.
Actress Casey Wilson has tied the knot with fiance David Caspe. The former Happy Endings actress and her new husband, show creator Caspe, wed on Sunday (25May14) at the Ojai Valley Inn in Ojai, California.
The couple exchanged vows in a traditional Jewish ceremony in front of 170 guests, including her former co-stars, Elisha Cuthbert, Eliza Coupe, Adam Pally, Zachary Knighton, and Damon Wayans Jr., as well as her former Saturday Night Live castmate Abby Elliott.
Wilson and Caspe shared the happy news with Us Weekly in a statement which reads: "David and I couldn't have been more excited to celebrate our special day with all of our closest friends and family. Oprah (Winfrey), sadly, was a no show. (Probably because we've never met. Maybe next time?)."
This autumn (14), Wilson stars in a new U.S. sitcom, Marry Me, which is loosely based on her relationship with Caspe.
