Kings Of Leon guitarist Matthew Followill is sporting a svelte new figure after shedding almost three stone on tour. The band has been on the road since May (13) and Followill has been using his free time to get in shape.
He is now showing off a slim new look after shedding around 18 kilograms (40 pounds).
Followill tells Britain's Daily Record newspaper, "I've lost around 40 pounds."
The band is due to headline Virgin Media's V Festival in the U.K. over the weekend (17-18Aug13).
Rockers Kings Of Leon are set to indulge their love of a good meal by hosting a food festival in their hometown of Nashville, Tennessee next month (Sep13). Bandmembers Caleb and Nathan Followill have teamed up with chef Jonathan Waxman to co-host the Music City Eats festival, which will showcase some of the city's top chefs while bands perform live music.
The weekend event will also feature the Petty Fest Nashville, an all-star celebration of the music of Tom Petty, hosted by Kings Of Leon at Nashville's War Memorial Auditorium. They will perform alongside Emmylou Harris and Norah Jones.
Waxman says, "A few years ago, Caleb Followill quietly slipped into my restaurant Barbuto in New York, and we bonded over food and music, and throughout our many conversations, he kept asking why there wasn't a food and wine festival in his hometown of Nashville. We are inviting some truly amazing chefs from around the country, and most importantly, the best chefs and restaurants in Nashville. I am extremely excited by our shindig, and the Kings and I can't wait until September rolls around."
Music City Eats will take place from 21 to 22 September.
Former Swedish House Mafia star Steve Angello has been given a major boost after organisers of Britain's V Festival picked him to replace headliners Beady Eye. Liam Gallagher's band has pulled out of the double-site music event later this month (Aug13) to allow guitarist Gem Archer time to recover from a serious head injury which left him hospitalised.
The cancellation left a gap in the line-up, so festival bosses picked dance star Angello to fill in.
Angello was already on the bill to perform on one of the smaller stages, but he will now take over Beady Eye's slot on the high-profile 4Music Stage.
Other acts on the bill for the event, which kicks off on 17 August (13) at two sites in England, include Beyonce, Kings of Leon and The Script.
Archer is now out of hospital and resting at home following his accident. Editors at British newspaper The Sun report the musician suffered a fractured skull after falling down stairs at his London home.
Kings Of Leon star Nathan Followill has warned fans not to buy tickets for their upcoming London show from touts as they are testing out a new scheme to eliminate scalping. The rockers will play a show at the British capital's Shepherd's Bush Empire venue on Friday (09Aug13) ahead of a huge headlining set at the U.K.'s V Festival later this month (Aug13).
The show will be completely ticketless as fans are asked to simply bring along the credit card they used to book their seats, and Followill has issued a public warning to anyone hoping to gain access to the gig at the last minute.
In a post on his Twitter.com page, he writes, "Tomorrow's show is a paperless ticket only (sic) so please don't buy anything otherwise. I don't want you good people getting duped by fakes."
Funnyman Fred Armisen is to direct a new Kings Of Leon concert movie for the American Express Unstaged series. The former Saturday Night Live star and his team will capture the Sex on Fire rockers onstage during their upcoming Shepherd's Bush Empire gig in London on 9 August (13).
It will be streamed live by YouTube.com and Vevo.com.
The filmed concert will be the 13th to feature as part of the American Express Unstaged initiative, which teams top music acts with quirky directors - Steve Buscemi most recently directed a Vampire Weekend gig, while David Lynch took charge of a Duran Duran show in 2011. The series began in 2010 when Terry Gilliam directed an Arcade Fire streamed set in New York City.
Stevie Wonder, Alicia Keys, John Mayer and Kings Of Leon are teaming up for a star-studded benefit concert in New York City to raise money for the Global Poverty Project. The artists will come together in Manhattan's Central Park on 28 September (13) to urge world leaders convening in the city for the United Nations General Assembly Meeting to take more action to end extreme poverty.
Charity founder Hugh Evans says, "We must push our leaders to step up and commit to action. This is not just a concert. We are building a movement."
The first annual Global Citizen Festival was held last year (12), with the Black Keys, Foo Fighters and Neil Young & Crazy Horse all participating in the show.
