"Flying to airport! Catching the redeye back to LA to see my man! Of course when I have to be in NYC he has one day in LA! Lordy!" Jet-setting HILARY DUFF is making the effort to see her new husband, ice hockey star MIKE COMRIE, despite her busy schedule. The couple married in August (10).
The world is Miley Cyrus crazy. Who knew Hannah Montana would turn into some sort of unstoppable force of teenage superstardom? I certainly didn’t. (Sorry, Hilary Duff, but I don’t think Lizzie McGuire ever worked this kind of magic for you. Maybe you should have done a racy/creepy photo shoot with Annie Leibovitz, too.) Kids are buying Miley-brand everything – from clothes and music to movies and TV, she commands attention from every direction. But there’s one thing Miley hasn’t done. She’s mostly depended on her toothy grin and singing to propel her into success, but now she’s diving into action. Yes, action. Well, action-ish. It’s still Miley Cyrus we’re talking about here.
She’s signed on for a new action-comedy where her character goes undercover and it’s called So Undercover. Riveting. Absolutely riveting. He character will play a tough cookie – a private eye hired by the FBI to go so undercover at a sorority. (Why does everyone suddenly want to be Veronica Mars?) I’m sorry, I don’t know if I can buy the former (bewigged) blondie as street-smart or old enough to be hired by the FBI or go to college – she’s not even 18 yet. Plus, she’s not exactly the stealthy type; she’s more the “Hey y’all, it’s Miley!” type.
Apparently this new role is all part of the plan – the giant money-making plan. Her movies have already earned $630 million worldwide and apparently this switch to the action-comedy genre is an attempt to bring in more than just tweens and a handful of people who are tweens at heart. It’s Miley, y’all and she’s so coming for all y’all.
Lancaster was joined by Girls Aloud singer Nicola Roberts and Spandau Ballet frontman Tony Hadley to work as traders in London's financial district for the 6th Annual BGC Charity Day, swapping places with staff to man phones on the trading floor.
The firm's bosses annually commemorate the loss of hundreds of colleagues at their affiliate company Cantor Fitzgerald who were killed after Muslim extremists flew two planes into the World Trade Center in 2001.
Lancaster says, "The buzz on the trading floor was amazing... It's fantastic to think everyone at BGC Partners has given up their time for free and to be generous enough (sic) to give the day's revenues to charity."
Across the Atlantic, Duff turned up to help the cause by manning phones at BGC's New York office.
The actress wed Mike Comrie in Santa Barbara, California last month (Aug10) and the pair struck a reported $1 million (£666,666) deal for America's OK! magazine to publish the photographs.
According to New York Post gossip column PageSix, Duff was paid half of the money upfront, with the rest to be handed over once the publication hit newsstands.
After the edition only shifted a reported 290,000 copies, magazine bosses were alleged to be eager to cut the price of the deal.
But a spokesperson for OK! refutes the rumour, telling PageSix: "This was a mutually successful endeavour."
The couple announced plans to marry in February (10) after dating for three years, but the singer/actress reveals Canadian Comrie had to guard the large sparkler prior to getting down on bended knee - and she's amazed he didn't lose it.
She tells America's OK! magazine, "He said he had it (engagement ring) for about seven or eight months. And while we were in Hawaii, he carried it around because he didn't know when the right time was gonna be. I was like, 'Are you crazy? You've had that ring in your pocket for three days?' No box, nothing!"
But Duff is delighted with her glittering piece of jewellery: "It's very big and sparkly. I was scared to touch it when he showed it to me!"
The stars became man and wife during an intimate ceremony in Santa Barbara, California last Saturday (14Aug10).
The actress wed ice hockey star Mike Comrie in Santa Barbara, California and it's what she wore underneath her Vera Wang gown which is now making headlines.
Faire Frou Frou owner Alison Rubke reveals Duff and her mother visited her Studio City, California store just before the big day to spend a small fortune on intimate apparel.
She tells U.S. news show Access Hollywood that the So Yesterday hitmaker was planning to spice up her wedding night with a $440 (£293) Fleur of England bra and pant set and a Vannina Vesperini set for $300 (£200).
Rubke reveals her famous regular also bought finely crafted Florrie Mitton garters, which she planned to wear under her wedding dress.
Two marriages ended this weekend. TWO! As in, while Kanye West was tweeting about doing a duet with Justin Bieber and while I was moving my dinner plans so I could continue following their feeds, people who promised to spend their lives together in front of tons of witnesses finally admitted to themselves they'd rather be a legless kitty than be married to their spouses any longer.
First up on the cruise to the land of single nights of Triscuit dinners is Thomas Jane and Patricia Arquette, who've separated once before but say this time, they no longer wish to receive their snail mail in the same place and are ready to get divorced. The two have been together since 2001. They had a daughter in 2003, got married in 2006, and apparently Patricia filed for divorce in January of 2009. But then they got back together, presumably after buying a brand new TiVo and sending their daughter (in her footie pajamas) to spend the night at a friend's. Patricia is David and Rosana Arquette's sister, but that doesn't really make any difference. Thomas is on a little show called Hung, which, if method acting is real, should have made a difference.
Also in the tale of two divorces, we have Fred Armisen of Saturday Night Live and Elisabeth Moss of Mad Men, who got married a record-breaking 10 months ago. Life & Style Magazine claims they separated in May, even after Moss was quoted as saying they "don't disagree on anything" and that "it's weird." Armisen is currently in Portland, Oregon, filming his new show, Portlandia, which will probably also be the inspiration behind a few wine stores in a few years or so. Moss is probably doing something Mad Men or Scientology-related to cope.
And the innocent couple who's probably making those four want to knock back five more than a few dirty martinis is Hilary Duff and hockey player Mike Comrie, who got married this weekend in Montecito, California. They dated for two years, since Hilary was 20 and was taking movie roles in movies where her characters would be wearing roller skates and trying to prevent her mom from slutting it up so much. But ah, yes, young love between an actress and a hockey player. Kisses to the happy couple, for at least they're not both actors and at least one of them is Canadian.

The Atonement actor pulled out of a starring role in upcoming comedy/drama I'm With Cancer shortly after an announcement that his wife Anne Marie Duff is expecting their first child in June (10).
McAvoy is said to have been offered $1.5 million (£1 million) for the role - but he has no regrets about turning the part down, because he doesn't want to spend all his time in Hollywood.
He says, "I don't like planning too far ahead. My life was getting planned for me, so I said, 'Stop.' I'm going to do a play, no films for a while.
"I don't want to be in America all the time. If you go down that blockbuster, starry route too much, there's no way back to being a normal actor."
