The stars of Napoleon Dynamite celebrated the 10th anniversary of the film's release by reuniting to unveil a bronze statue of the titular character in Los Angeles on Monday (09Jun14). Since its release in 2004, the comedy has become a cult favourite, and a decade later, the cast including Jon Heder, Haylie Duff, Efren Ramirez, Tina Majorino, Sandy Martin, Shondrella Avery, and director Jared Hess gathered at the Fox Studio lot in Los Angeles to celebrate the movie's success.
The cast revealed a bronze statue of Napoleon Dynamite himself, wearing his signature 'Vote for Pedro' shirt and moonboots, and also participated in a question and answer session following the unveiling.
The comedy starring Heder as a hapless high school student grossed nearly $45 million (£28 million) at the U.S. box office and went on to become a top-selling home release.
"You know, I think maybe we all think it's a lot weirder than it really is, but we love Mike, and he's still so much a part of our family. I might see Mike actually more than I see Hilary, which is weird." Haylie Duff insists she is still close to her brother-in-law Mike Comrie following his split from the actress' sister, Hilary, in January (14). The estranged couple has a son together, named Luca.
Singer and actress Hilary Duff has hinted that divorce may be a long way off for her and estranged husband Mike Comrie - because they're still the best of friends. The couple split in January (14), but the So Yesterday singer admits she's not quite ready to make the former ice hockey star an ex, revealing they are still working on their relationship.
Duff tells UsMagazine.com, "We are really dedicated to taking care of (son) Luca, and we're really good friends who spend a lot of time together.
"We're not in a rush for anything. So we're just trying to enjoy our lives and figure out what makes us happy and it's working for us.
"We have Luca as our main priority, but we do care a lot about each other. We're adults and we're making our way through life. Sometimes you do that together and apart and we're gonna be and we're going to do it in the most peaceful way possible."
Meanwhile, singer Aaron Carter has made it clear he's keen to win Duff back after dating the star before she got married and became a mum.
He recently said, "I'm gonna do everything in my power to fix those (broken) relationships in my life, just like I want to fix the relationship I had with the love of my life. I'm not gonna give up on Hilary. Ever."
"I was pretty excited to meet her. I mean, Lizzie McGuire was my childhood!" Singer/actress Ariana Grande was thrilled to meet her childhood icon Hilary Duff, who presented her with the Young Influencer honour at the iHeartRadio Music Awards on Thursday night (01May14).
Actress and singer Hilary Duff is turning to British singer/songwriter Ed Sheeran to help relaunch her music career. The former Lizzie McGuire star is writing and recording material for a new album, which will be her first foray into music since her 2007 album Dignity.
She has now revealed she is due to record a song by The A Team hitmaker, telling MTV, "I'm working with a lot of people. I'm still writing, so that process is still going on. I'm cutting an Ed Sheeran song next week, which I'm really excited about."
Actress/singer Hilary Duff has denied rumours she is back with her estranged husband Mike Comrie, insisting they are often pictured together because they are still great friends.
The Cheaper by the Dozen star split from the former ice hockey player in January (14) after three years of marriage. They have a two-year-old son, Luca, together. Duff has been pictured with Comrie on a number of occasions since the announcement, sparking speculation they were reconciling, but the actress now insists the former couple still meet up socially as they are close pals.
She tells E! News, "We're constantly seen together and people are like, 'What are they doing? Are they back together? Are they not?' We're really good friends and we have so much respect for each other and obviously Luca is our number one priority. "I think we got to a point where we were like, we really need to honour happiness and whatever that is and however we need to sort that out or work that out, we're doing that. We love each other so much and we love spending time together. So when you see us out it's not just for Luca, it's because we make plans and we hang out and we don't know what our future looks like right now but we're both doing really good and just figuring out what makes us happy."
"From my point of view, an ex is an ex and there's a reason for that. I feel like you just gotta move on. Aaron, move on. I love you dude, but move on." Backstreet Boys star Nick Carter advises his younger brother Aaron to stop his quest to win back ex-girlfriend Hilary Duff.
The good news is that Hilary Duff is coming back to television! The Lizzie McGuire and Gossip Girl alum is teaming up with Sex and the City creator Darren Star (also good news) for an upcoming series. However, the show, called Younger, is going to air on... TV Land? This just got weird.
Now, one reason it may be coming to TV Land is the fact that the lead of the series is actually Sutton Foster, who plays 40 year-old Liza, a woman pretending to be a 29-year old working girl in the city. Left all alone after her child goes to college and her husband leaves her, Liza decideds to reinvent herself. Duff plays an unknowing new co-worker (Kelsey) who takes Liza under her wings.
This all sounds well and good, but even TV Land president Larry W. Jones had to admit that the series is a surprising move: “Younger’s serialized style is different for us, yet fits our brand with its humor and relatability..." Hilary Duff, herself a mom, still has a loyal following which could earn the network the attention of a younger demographic. But many of us will first have to get over that initial strangeness of turning on TV Land during primetime hours and watching something other than those amazing Three's Company reruns.
