Zac Efron and Jonah Hill have joined Howard Stern in mourning the loss of the shock jock's regular contributor Eric Lynch following his death over the weekend (20-21Sep14). Lynch, who was nicknamed The Actor by Stern, was a regular caller to the DJ's U.S. radio show before becoming a contributor, and his celebrity fans have paid their respects following his death on Saturday (20Sep14) at the age of 39.
Stern says of his late friend, "I loved Eric... I truly, truly loved him... he was the greatest," while Hollywood actor Efron, who nominated Lynch for the charity ice bucket challenge just weeks before his death, writes in a post on Twitter.com, "#EricTheActor you will be missed. Sending my condolences to all of Eric's family and friends. #ByeForNow (sic)."
The Wolf of Wall Street star Hill adds, "I just found out that Eric The Actor passed away. He entertained me for years. So sad that this great man left us. RIP Eric," while actor Jerry O'Connell writes, "#EricTheActor God bless you Eric (sic). You were very brave and will always be in my prayers."
Scrubs actor Zach Braff tweeted, "RIP ?#EricTheActor?. If there's an after-life I hope you're bigger than Johnny Depp (sic)."
Lynch suffered from Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, a condition which affects the body's connective tissues including skin and joints.
British pop star Holly Johnson has opened up about living with HIV, insisting he is amazed he is still alive 23 years after his diagnosis. The former Frankie Goes to Hollywood frontman was diagnosed with the illness in 1991 and thought he would be the latest in a long line of famous faces who fell victim to AIDS.
However, the development of medications to control the illness means Johnson is living with the disease, and he has now detailed the effects it has on his life.
He tells The Observer Magazine, "A considerable amount of effort goes into it. I live like a nun. I don't drink, I don't smoke, I haven't done for years. I take copious amounts of vitamins and medications. I do everything possible to support my health.
"But I'm in the same boat with millions of people who have other illnesses. Unfortunately the drugs have side effects. I've developed type 2 diabetes now because of that, and I have to take more medication for that.
"But I'm not whining about it, and I never will. Because I'm so lucky in many respects. Many beautiful friends who were my gay extended family have gone... (Freddie Mercury) wasn't the only friend who died in 1991. Or 1990. Or 1985 even. It got closer and closer to me as the years went by. So I was fully expecting that I was next."
Iggy Pop is to give a lecture on the controversial subject of free music at a radio conference in the U.K. next month (Oct14). The punk icon, who hosts a BBC radio show, will give the fourth annual John Peel Lecture at Radio Festival 2014 in Salford, England and his speech will be broadcast live on radio and filmed for television.
The Stooges star says, "I've never given a lecture in my life, but on the day I'm going to attempt a discussion on the subject of free music in a capitalist society."
Iggy Pop's lecture will come just weeks after U2's headline grabbing free music giveaway in which they teamed up with Apple to have their latest album automatically distributed to half a billion users' devices. The stunt infuriated many fans who accused the rockers of encroaching on their music systems without permission.
Spanish actor Antonio Banderas is planning to quit Hollywood following his split from Melanie Griffith and return to his native country to work on more European movie projects. The Mask of Zorro star, who announced his split from American actress Griffith in June (14), wants to appear in more Spanish films and has sparked rumours he is turning his back on his adopted U.S.
Speaking during an appearance at the San Sebastian Film Festival in Spain, he told reporters, "I'm looking to come home and make movies here. Hollywood has ceased to exist as such, and now it is just a brand. I might have that brand on me my whole life, but I want to do more films from my own country. I recognise the talent here and I really believe in my people.
"It's true that in Hollywood, I've always had certain limitations because of my accent or ethnicity. I go straight into certain roles. I've been working in Hollywood for 23 years with a certain handicap."
Banderas has been married to Griffith for 18 years and they are parents to a teenage daughter named Stella. The Working Girl star filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences for the breakdown of the marriage.
Rockers Chad Smith, Duff Mckagan, and Mike Mccready formed a supergroup for a one-off performance at a charity benefit hosted by Will Ferrell on Friday (19Sep14). The Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer put aside his "feud" with Ferrell to support the comedian's Cancer for College fundraising event at the University of Washington in Seattle.
Smith was joined onstage by Guns N' Roses guitarist McKagan, Pearl Jam star McCready, country singer Brandi Carlile and bassist Stefan Lessard to perform a version of the Rolling Stones hits Honky Tonk Women and Jumpin' Jack Flash under the supergroup name I P**sed My Pants.
Ferrell, who played the cowbell during the first song, frequently supports the Cancer of College cause due to his friendship with founder Craig Pollard.
The Anchorman star's rivalry with Smith began earlier this year (14) after Ferrell mocked the similarity of their appearance. Their light-hearted feud culminated in a drum battle on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon in May (14).
Australian actor Nathaniel Buzolic has to rely on online translation services to help him pay his European girlfriend compliments as he does not speak a word of French. The Vampire Diaries star has been dating Frenchwoman Lorna Lalinec for several months after meeting her in Paris, but their long-distance love is tested by communication issues and Buzolic has developed a sneaky way of talking to her.
The actor, who is based in Los Angeles, tells the Sydney Daily Telegraph, "What I've become an expert at since we began dating is French kissing. It is so good. You can only learn from the French. Seriously though, what we lack in communication, Google translator makes up for it. We really struggle but I've found this, if you can make a girl laugh that doesn't speak your language, then you are doing all right."
Buzolic also recalls how the pair had to overcome the language barrier as soon as they met, adding, "She was the most beautiful girl I'd ever seen and I said to myself, if I don't talk to her I am going to regret it for the rest of my life. So I stumbled over and tried to have a conversation with her. When I realised she didn't speak any English and I didn't speak any French, I knew it was going to be difficult.
"If we do end up together and we have little French babies, I won't be complaining. The way I look at it is that if we stay together, I am going to learn French through our relationship."

Actress Jessica Chastain has urged U.S. officials to devise a heavy punishment for the masterminds behind the Hollywood hacking scandal, insisting the stars involved have been "completely victimised". Intimate pictures of a number of celebrities including Jennifer Lawrence and Kirsten Dunst were leaked on the Internet last month (Aug14) and further photographs of female stars including Kim Kardashian, Vanessa Hudgens and Gabrielle Union were exposed in a second wave over the weekend (20-21Sep14).
Chastain has now condemned the leak and called for harsh sentences for the perpetrators, telling Sky News, "It's such a violation. To me they're not leaked photos, they're stolen photos... Me appearing nude in a film is my choice and I find it so terrible that these actresses have been completely victimised.
"Anything sexual which does not have the woman saying 'yes'... is a big problem to me, so I hope that we find out who these people were and we can go after them as hard as we can."
Actress Scarlett Johansson has also been targeted in the new batch of snaps, which marks the second time nude pictures of her have surfaced on the Internet. Christopher Chaney, the man behind Johansson's 2011 leak, was sentenced to 10 years in prison in 2012 for cyber hacking.
Agents at America's Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) are investigating the scandal.
