Sex And The City star Sarah Jessica Parker gave an Irish couple a wedding day to remember by making an unexpected appearance at their reception. Maire O'Flynn and new husband Peter were celebrating their big day at Lough Eske Castle Hotel in County Donegal, Ireland when the actress and her husband Matthew Broderick arrived for dinner with friends at the venue's restaurant.
After her meal, Parker, who owns a holiday home in nearby Kilcar, joined the bride for pictures and showered her with compliments.
O'Flynn tells the BBC, "She sent some of the staff to get me from the dance floor just as she was leaving, and I went out and got a lovely picture with her and she was very kind. She said that I looked beautiful and hoped that I was having a great day. She also mentioned that my bridesmaid looked fabulous, which was great... It was a nice addition to the day and added a bit of celebrity status to the occasion."
Musical theatre composer Mary Rodgers has died, aged 83. The daughter of Broadway icon Richard Rodgers passed away on 26 June (14), according to Playbill.com.
Rodgers grew up with her father's enormous success in the theatre, and she wrote the music to Once Upon a Mattress, the musical adaptation of the Hans Christian Anderson tale The Princess and the Pea, in her 20s.
The production, which debuted in 1959, gave lead actress Carol Burnett her big break and her first Tony Award nomination.
Once Upon a Mattress closed less than a year after opening, but found success with a TV special in 1964 and 1972, both starring Burnett, as well as a Broadway revival in 1996 starring Sarah Jessica Parker.
Rodgers also composed the music to such shows as A to Z, Hot Spot, and Working.
She later became a children's book author, and wrote A Billion for Boris, Summer Switch, The Rotten Book and Freaky Friday, which was adapted for the big screen in 1976, featuring Barbara Harris and Jodie Foster, and again in 1995 and 2003, when it starred Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan.
Rodgers' son with her second husband Henry Guettel, Adam Guettel, is also a musical theatre composer. He earned two Tony Award wins for Best Score and Best Orchestrations for his 2003 musical The Light in the Piazza.
Rodgers is survived by her sister, Linda Rodgers Emory, five children, seven grandchildren and step-grandchildren.

A representative for supermodel Gisele Bundchen has dismissed rumours the Brazilian beauty pulled out of a planned appearance at a conference in Cannes, France at the last minute. Reports suggested the catwalk star quit a panel event, titled A Conversation with Gisele Bundchen, at the Cannes Lion International Festival of Creativity and jetted back to the U.S. to deal with family commitments.
Actor Rob Lowe was said to have been drafted in to replace the model in the line-up after she pulled out.
However, a representative for Bundchen has now insisted the beauty was never confirmed to appear at the event, telling the New York Post's Page Six column, "Gisele is working in New York. I'm thinking that they (festival organisers) probably printed materials prior to getting a go-ahead from us and never took anything down. I've never, never confirmed this opportunity."
Other stars to make appearances at the annual marketing conference included Kanye West, Courtney Love, Sarah Jessica Parker, Jared Leto and Mariah Carey.
Ohio rockers The Black Keys have had a burger at a popular U.S. restaurant chain named in their honour. Umami Burger's Akron Burger, named after the Gold On The Ceiling hitmakers' hometown, consists of a beef patty topped with processed American cheese Velveeta, the eatery's secret sauce, yellow mustard, chopped onions and pickles.
Fans who order the $13 (£8) gourmet creation will also be making a donation to charity - $1 (£0.63) of each meal will benefit The Black Keys Alfred McMoore Memorial Endowment Fund, a non-profit organisation which supports arts programmes for the mentally ill in Akron's local community.
The Akron Burger will be available to customers from 1 July (14).
The rockers aren't the only musicians to land such a food honour - bosses at U.S. pizza chain Two Boots created a pie in tribute to Animal Collective last year (13), while their menu also boasts pizzas named after Slayer, Dr. John and jazz icon Charlie Parker.
Actor Tony Danza is officially heading back to Broadway for the first time in 13 years with a musical adaptation of 1992 movie Honeymoon In Vegas. The Taxi star will take on the role of gambler Tommy Korman, the character made famous by James Caan in the film, about a man who falls for a young woman while she is in Las Vegas to wed her boyfriend.
Actress Brynn O'Malley will play the bride-to-be, depicted by Sarah Jessica Parker on the big screen, while Rob McClure will take on the role Nicolas Cage played in the early 1990s.
Gary Griffin will direct the show, which will begin previews on 18 November (14) at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre, ahead of its official opening on 15 January (15).
Danza last appeared on the Great White Way in a 2001 production of The Producers, while he previously featured in The Iceman Cometh in 1999 and A View From the Bridge in 1997.
Rumours about Danza's Broadway return first surfaced in 2011, before producers decided to give the Honeymoon in Vegas musical a trial run at New Jersey's Paper Mill Playhouse last year (13).
Every once in a while a fun, new, horror flick comes around and plays around with the old genre a bit. This year's Animal does just that, and also stars some very familiar TV faces, including Elizabeth Gillies (Victorious, Winx Club) and Keke Palmer (True Jackson, Winx Club), along with Parker Young (a favorite from Suburgatory and Enlisted) and Paul Iacono.
In a recent interview Liz Gillies said that her fans will be pleasantly surprised at how the film works against certain horror movie clichés, even as it shows love to throwback styles of the genre (after all, they are playing a group of kids in the woods, running from something). She also mentions that the movie is really funny (much of which has to be attributed to Iacono's character).
There's also a fantastic—albeit brief—cameo from rapper Eve, which is reason enough to check it out. Well that, and the Parker Young factor:
Animal is in theatres and available for purchase on iTunes now!
