Miley Cyrus is a hard-working pop star who never parties before her shows, according to her tour mates Icona Pop. The Swedish duo has been performing with the singer on the European leg of her Bangerz world tour and they have spoken out to dismiss gossip about wild parties on the road.
They insist the Disney star-turned-wild child is a true professional and would never jeopardise her tour by misbehaving.
Icona Pop member Aino Jawo tells Britain's Daily Mirror, "Miley is such an amazing performer. She sings amazingly every night. She would never go out and party before her gigs. She's one of the hardest-working artists out there. She soundchecks every day and she's so humble."
Cyrus recently called off the remainder of her U.S. tour after suffering a nasty allergic reaction to medication she was prescribed for a sinus infection. She subsequently spoke out to dismiss rumours she had suffered a secret drug overdose, saying, "I didn't have a drug overdose. I took some s**tty antibiotic my doctor gave me and I had an allergic reaction."
Pitch Perfect star Anna Kendrick got a little saucy during her hosting stint on Saturday Night Live at the weekend (05Apr14) as "an international nasty girl" in search of Dongs All Over the World in a music video sketch. The actress also showed off her rapping skills during the sketch with the line, "Here's a quick tip that you need to know/When you're travelling the world with your girls in tow/Keep a tight schedule and you can't go wrong/You'll see none of the country but all of the dongs."
The skit also featured Icona Pop as pilots flying Kendrick and her naughty pals on their international sex adventures.
Kendrick also portrayed Ariel from the Little Mermaid, mimicking the singing voices of Kesha, Britney Spears, Iggy Azalea and Selena Gomez, on the show.
Pop singer Sky Ferreira has shot down rumours she's abandoned Miley Cyrus' tour after injuring herself during a show last month (Feb14). The singer is Cyrus' opening act on her Bangerz tour, but she hasn't been onstage in recent weeks after she sliced her leg open during a concert in Anaheim, California and needed 60 stitches.
The star has now denied reports she has quit the trek for good, insisting she took time out to promote her album Night Time, My Time and will be back later this month (Mar14).
In a series of posts on Twitter.com, she writes, "FYI (for your information) I didn't drop off of the Bangerz tour. I'm back in a week. I just released my album in Europe & Australia so I needed to go.
"I played 8 shows with my injury (with blood seeping through my bandage & infected) I highly doubt I would stop in the middle of it. Basically what I'm trying to say (is) why would I stop in the middle of the tour when I played 3 weeks ago?"
Duo Icona Pop are currently supporting Cyrus until Ferreira returns.
Pop duo Icona Pop have Rihanna to thank for the U.S. success of their I Love It hit last year (13) - the producers of cult show Girls had to use their song in a pivotal scene after the R&B beauty refused to let them air her tune Talk That Talk. Girls music supervisor Manish Raval reveals he initially wanted the Rihanna song to play during a memorable, cocaine-fuelled dancing scene, but the Umbrella hitmaker and her managers turned down his request.
He tells Radio.com, "They didn't give a reason, we didn't ask for a reason, so I can't speculate as to why, but you know, it's a happy accident. She said no and we happened to find the Icona Pop song.
"They were an unsigned band and no one knew the song. It was going to be an inherently original moment. Even when I hear the song now I think of the scene."
Rapper Macklemore had no problem spending New Year's Eve (31Dec13) onstage in New York's Times Square, because work keeps his mind off the temptations of a drink and drugs relapse. The Thrift Shop hitmaker, real name Ben Haggerty, has a history of alcohol and drug abuse problems, which resulted in a stint in rehab in 2008, and he admits the Christmas holidays are particularly tough as friends and family indulge all around him.
He tells ABC News, "For me, what is a temptation is coming home off of the road, which is why this time period is interesting. This is when I've fallen back before."
At his lowest point, Macklemore recalls feeling "isolation, broke, depressed, no reason to really live", but he refuses to waste the opportunities he has been given and now focuses on being "present" to enjoy his career success.
He says, "I don't want to look back and be like, 'You had it all, and you weren't even present for it. You weren't able to enjoy it.' I want to be here, be now and be grateful."
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis joined Miley Cyrus, Blondie and Icona Pop among the performers who bid farewell to 2013 in the middle of Times Square as part of the televised U.S. special, Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve.
Miley Cyrus rang in 2014 with a headlining spot at Times Square's annual New Year's Eve bash in New York. The pop star, who scrapped a show in Florida to perform as part of TV network ABC's end-of-year TV marathon, sang Get It Right and Wrecking Ball just before midnight, but it was too cold for her to 'twerk' or show off too much skin. Instead, she and three dancers hit the stage in matching gold outfits and the pop star also wore a floor-length white winter coat to keep off the chill.
Cyrus smiled through the show even though she was ill - shortly before taking to the stage, she tweeted, "This cough/cold is not a good combo. please keep praying for me. If I can just get thru tonight I can have a nice lil break."
She cheered up just before taking the stage when she told host Ryan Seacrest all about her "modest" costume, revealing, "This is the most clothed I've been in all of 2013... Due to standards and practices and also the cold weather, this is what we came up with."
And she started 2014 with high praise from Courtney Love, who ended 2013 with the post, "if it wasn't for @MileyCyrus 2013 would've been a dull dreary year. if you can't agree with that, you're an idiot."
Melissa Etheridge also got the Times Square revellers ready for 2014 by singing John Lennon's peace anthem Imagine just before midnight, and the coverage then bounced to Billy Joel performing across the Big Apple at the Barclays Center just after the famous ball drop and the start of 2014.
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Icona Pop and Blondie were also part of the countdown celebrations in Times Square.
"So EXCITED to announce we're joining @MileyCyrus on her #BANGERZ tour! Get ready to dance with all of us soon!" Swedish duo Icona Pop have been picked to support Miley Cyrus on her upcoming tour. Everything Is Embarrassing hitmaker Sky Ferreira will also serve as an opening act for Miley's North American tour, which will kick off in Vancouver, Canada on 14 February (14).
Eminem led the winners at the 2013 Mtv Europe Music Awards in Amsterdam, Holland, on Sunday (10Nov13), taking home two awards and securing his lead as the artist with the most EMAs ever. The rapper won the Best Hip Hop prize and was awarded the the Global Icon trophy for his continued success over the last decade. He has now won 15 MTV EMAs - more than anyone else.
He also took to the stage to perform Berzerk and Rap God before Will Ferrell, dressed as his Anchorman character Ron Burgundy, presented him with his Global Icon accolade.
Justin Timberlake and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis had led nominations ahead of the ceremony, but Timberlake went home empty handed, while the hitmaking duo had to make do with the prize for Best New Act.
Miley Cyrus stole the spotlight during the ceremony - the former Hannah Montana star performed twice, opening the event with a rendition of her We Can't Stop hit accompanied by a leather-clad little person, who she groped and spanked. Miley then returned to the stage for an impassioned performance of Wrecking Ball, which won her the Best Video award.
Her pal Katy Perry scooped the award for Best Female and performed her new track Unconditionally, while and absent Justin Bieber was named Best Male for the second year in a row. He accepted his award via a video link from South America, where he is currently on tour.
Other performance highlights came from Kings Of Leon, The Killers, Icona Pop, Robin Thicke, Snoop Dogg, Katy Perry and Bruno Mars.
Will Ferrell's Ron Burgundy character appeared in a number of skits throughout the night, guiding the viewers around Amsterdam with a canal trip accompanied by Daft Punk lookalikes and making a confused visit to the city's famous red light district.
LMFAO star Redfoo hosted the evening and donned nine different costumes, including one which appeared to be edible.

The 40th annual show will be hosted by 2 Broke Girls stars Beth Behrs and Kat Dennings on CBS on Jan. 8 at 9 PM. Final voting ends on Dec. 5.
Carrie Devorah / WENNFrom a electro-house reworking of a punk anthem to a potential Christmas classic, here's a look at five of the best new tracks to have been unveiled over the past seven days.Katy Perry – "Unconditional"Rumoured to be the second official single from Prism, this emotionally-charged blend of tumbling percussion and punchy melodies certainly won't do Katy Perry's bid to challenge Gaga and Rihanna as the new Queen of Pop any harm.Tove Lo – "Out Of Mind"Having previously penned songs for the likes of Icona Pop and Girls Aloud, Tove Lo certainly knows her way around an irresistible hook and this cinematic slice of scandi-pop heartbreak suggests she may soon be following in the former's chart-conquering footsteps.Duck Sauce – "Radio Stereo"After giving '70s disco classics from Boney M and Final Edition a 21st Century makeover, Duck Sauce now randomly switch their attention to the early '80s British post-punk scene with this typically playful and pulsing reworking of The Members' chant-led hit.Tegan & Sara – "Shudder To Think"Appearing on the soundtrack to the Oscar-tipped drama The Dallas Buyers Club, Tegan & Sara pick up where their brilliant recent album, Heartthrob, left off with another irresistibly buoyant '80s synth-pop pastiche.Kelly Clarkson – "Underneath The Tree"It's perhaps a little too early to be playing this lead single from Kelly Clarkson's first festive album on repeat. But its joyous mix of sleigh bells, saxophone and Motown pop beats is possibly the most immediately uplifting yuletide tune since Mariah Carey's classic "All I Want For Christmas Is You."
