British character actor Francis Matthews has died, aged 86. The TV regular provided the voice of Captain Scarlet in puppet-maker Gerry Anderson's 1960s TV show, and portrayed private detective Paul Temple in the BBC series of the same name from 1969.
Matthews also appeared in Hammer horror films including The Revenge of Frankenstein and Dracula: Prince of Darkness and the Morecambe and Wise movies The Intelligence Men and That Riviera Touch.
He was cast as puppet hero Captain Scarlet because he sounded like movie star Cary Grant, and ironically voiced Grant in the 2004 TV movie Cary Comes Home.
Matthews' final credit came in 2012's Run For Your Wife.

Stars including Hugh Grant, Elizabeth Hurley and Damian Lewis have shown their sporting spirit by reciting a new poem penned in support of England's World Cup soccer team. In a clip posted on video sharing website YouTube.com, the celebrities join members of the British public in the video montage to read lines from poet Henry Birtles' composition That Time Again.
Birtles, who also appears in the video, is known for writing horse racing-themed poems and uses the name The Racing Poet.
He previously recruited Lewis to read his poem Harvest in Westminster Abbey in 2013 and was asked by Hurley and her former boyfriend Shane Warne to write and recite a poem about the Ashes cricket series for a fundraiser to launch the sporting event last year (13).
The England soccer team play their first game of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil against Italy on Saturday (14Jun14).
"All the way from London, they're panties made by the men who make the Queen's panties, Rigby and Peller. They're very expensive and I hope you like them. I've only worn them once." Hugh Grant gifted his Two Weeks Notice co-star Sandra Bullock with a unique gift as he presented her with the Decade of Hotness honour at the Guys Choice Awards on Wednesday (11Jun14).
Leading ladies Sandra Bullock and Rihanna were among those feted with top honours at the annual 2014 Guys Choice Awards. The ceremony, honouring all things men love, was filmed on Saturday (07Jun14) in Culver City, California, and aired in America on Wednesday (11Jun14) to reveal the full list of winners, which included some of Hollywood's standout women.
The first award of the night went to Rihanna for Most Desirable Woman, and during her acceptance speech she quipped, "Thank you for voting me for this at 26 (years old) because it all goes downhill from here."
Oscar winner Bullock was lauded with the biggest honour of the night with the Decade of Hotness award, and three of her former leading men, Matthew McConaughey, Hugh Grant, and Keanu Reeves, were on hand to present her with the trophy.
Accepting the prize, Bullock said, "I feel like I'm at my funeral. Decade of hotness? My question is, what decade? Because I have several under my belt.
"It really should be Decade of Hot Mess, that I can own. I do that well. And I'm still convinced because someone dropped out."
Bullock's A Time To Kill co-star McConaughey was voted the Guy of the Year, while Johnny Knoxville earned the Guycon - Guy Icon - prize, Kevin Hart won King of Comedy, and The Walking Dead's Norman Reedus was named the Biggest A** Kicker.
Other winners included Brooklyn Nine-Nine star Andy Samberg (Primetime), comedy duo Key & Peele (Hottest Couple), Blurred Lines video vixen Emily Ratajkowski (Our New Girlfriend), and Sports Illustrated swimsuit models Chrissy Teigen, Nina Agdal and Lily Aldridge (Holy Grail of Hot).
Mark Wahlberg earned two prizes, with the Brotherly Love trophy along with siblings Donnie and Paul Wahlberg, and the Troops Choice, which was voted by members of the U.S. military, honouring him and Lone Survivor author Marcus Luttrell.
Stars including Aaron Paul, Cameron Diaz, Jason Segel, Kit Harrington, and Jessica Alba turned out to the ceremony, where golden antler statues were handed out to the winners.
Canadian rockers Nickelback banned producers behind Jonah Hill's new comedy 22 Jump Street from using their music during a drug hallucination scene. The actor reveals he had the How You Remind Me hitmakers' songs blasting out from a stereo onset to help him get into character as he pretended to be under the influence during shooting, but the band refused to grant movie bosses permission to keep the tunes in the film.
Hill admits he has no idea why Nickelback objected to the request, but he wants fans to keep their music in mind while watching the scene because it'll make the sequence "way more awesome than weird".
Hill adds, "We specifically chose the music of Nickelback to play during my sequence, and they wouldn't let us use it...
"It's me having a complete drug trip to a Nickelback song, which I find hilarious, and they said no, so just imagine it with your minds and stuff."

Oscar-nominated actress Martha Hyer has died, aged 89. The Hollywood star passed away on 31 May (14) at her home in Santa Fe, New Mexico, according to Santafenewmexican.com.
She started her acting career with small roles, including an appearance in TV show The Lone Ranger, before progressing to more substantial parts in films such as 1954 romantic comedy Sabrina with Audrey Hepburn and Humphrey Bogart. Hyer went on to work with some of Hollywood's top leading men, including Rock Hudson in 1957's Battle Hymn and Cary Grant in 1958's Houseboat, before starring opposite Frank Sinatra in 1958's Some Came Running in a role which earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress.
She lost out on the award and went on to miss another huge Hollywood opportunity when the role of Marion Crane in Alfred Hitchcock's 1960 thriller Psycho bypassed her and went to Janet Leigh instead. Her big screen career ended with a role in 1971 movie Day of the Wolves. She released an autobiography about her life in Hollywood, Finding My Way: A Hollywood Memoir, in 1990.
Hyer was married to Casablanca producer Hal B. Wallis until his death in 1986.
Rapper Master P has questioned a judge's decision to grant his estranged wife full custody of their minor children due to his court absence on Monday (09Jun14), insisting he was unaware there was even a hearing scheduled. The Make 'Em Say Uhh! hitmaker has been embroiled in a bitter custody battle with his ex Sonya Miller since she filed for divorce in October (13) after 24 years of marriage, and on Monday (09Jun14), a judge awarded her sole custody of their four young kids after he failed to respond to her legal documents.
He was also ordered to pay Sonya's $75,000 (£46,875) legal fees, which includes sanctions for failing to attend the hearing.
However, the hip-hop veteran is not happy with the ruling and has now opened up about his no-show, claiming he worries his ex's alleged addiction troubles will seriously affect her ability to properly look after their children.
He tells AllHipHop.com, "This is disappointing and embarrassing to me. I just got back into town from holding basketball camps in Kentucky, helping at-risk youth and have to come back home to deal with negativity in my own family. How can a judge grant custody to an unfit mother whose only motive for gaining custody is to get more money? Sonya's only concern is herself, partying and hanging out with her friends..."
Master P, real name Percy Miller, also claims he will take legal action against her attorneys if anything happens to the children while under their mother's care.
He continues, "I didn't need the court or judge to tell me to do what's right for my kids, that's what I want to do and that's my lifelong commitment to all of my kids.
"Sonya knows that she has a drug and alcohol addiction, everyone else will see that there is a real problem because that's something you can only hide for so long. If anything happens to my kids while they're in her custody, I will be suing her attorneys as well as the court system for not properly investigating this case."
Sandra Bullock was reunited with her leading movie men Matthew Mcconaughey, Keanu Reeves and Hugh Grant on Saturday (07Jun14) as she was honoured at the Guys Choice Awards in California. The Gravity actress was feted with the Decade of Hotness prize at the annual Spike TV event, and her former co-stars turned out to salute her at the Culver City ceremony.
Grant, who appeared alongside Bullock in 2002's Two Weeks Notice, revealed he was in awe at how the Oscar winner had gone from "sneaky hot" to just "hot", while McConaughey admitted he had always found his A Time to Kill co-star's collarbone sexy and Reeves couldn't stop gushing about his Speed and The Lake House co-star when it was his turn to pay tribute to his pal.
They then invited Bullock, who wore a form-fitting strapless pink minidress, up to the podium and presented her with a beauty queen-style sash, a tiara, a bouquet of red roses and her award, which featured a pair of golden antlers.
Accepting the honour, the 49 year old quipped, "I feel like I'm at my funeral. Decade of Hotness... My question was what decade? I have several under my belt. It should really be Decade of Hot Mess. That I can own and I do that well and I'm still convinced I'm up here because someone dropped out and they needed someone quickly and we know I'm home on Saturdays."
Meanwhile, comedian Kevin Hart joked about Rihanna's demure black dress as he presented the singer with the award for Most Desirable Woman, days after she bared almost all in a sheer dress at the CFDA Awards in New York, telling the audience, "How many men are mad that she didn't come naked?"
Responding to the comment in her acceptance speech, the singer replied, "I knew pervs (sic) like you would be here at the Guys Choice Awards!"
Other winners included McConaughey (Guy of the Year), Mark Wahlberg (Troops Choice Award), The Walking Dead star Norman Reedus (Biggest A** Kicker) and Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover models Lily Aldridge, Nina Agdal and Chrissy Teigen, who collected the Holy Grail of Hot Award.
Issues about the blurry line between love and friendship aren’t the only important questions that the trailer for the "friend zone" rom-com What If brings to the forefront. More relevant than the question of whether or not you should tell your friend that you love them, more vital than who decided to have Daniel Radcliffe and Adam Driver stand next to each other, and more intriguing than the origin of everyone’s weird names is the question: Could Daniel Radcliffe be the rom com leading man we’ve been waiting for all along?
Let’s look at the evidence:
He’s Charming Charisma is a vital part of the rom-com hero formula – after all, he’s not just winning over his leading lady, but the entire audience as well. It’s a good thing, then, that Radcliffe has charm in spades, no doubt thanks to spending his formative years in the public eye. Whether he’s rambling a mile a minute about cricket or giving his fantasy football team a terribly funny name (Barkevious Mingo’s Mum) or campaigning for him and Dane DeHaan to win an award for Best Kiss, it’s hard not to fall under Radcliffe’s spell.
He’s Awkward Every leading man needs some kind of flaw to humanize them and makes them more approachable, and if the success of Jude Law and Hugh Grant’s movies prove anything, it’s that nobody does the “bumbling charmer” better than an Englishman. Radcliffe’s natural manic energy is the perfect basis for plenty of uncomfortable misunderstandings, physical comedy (like, say, someone getting knocked out of a window) and long-winded, heartfelt apologies that make everyone in the theater swoon.
He Seems Like a Regular Guy Though the most common rom-com hero has a strong jawline and a six pack, the most enduring ones seem like real people. Think Seth Rogen in Knocked Up or Dustin Hoffman in The Graduate or the most iconic of all, Billy Crystal in When Harry Met Sally. Despite being famous since he was a little kid, Radcliffe has that same Everyman appeal that makes those other guys so charming: good-looking but not intimidatingly so, confident but not cocky, intelligent but not insufferable. In short, Radcliffe seems like a guy you could actually be friends with, and that makes him more appealing.
He’s a Good Dancer Even if your rom-com doesn’t feature a scene where the hero sweeps his lady off her feet by being surprisingly light on his feet, it’s a necessary part of the whole “dream guy” package that Hollywood has been selling for years. And after starring in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Radcliffe’s got all the moves he needs to be the guy of your dreams, even if you can hear him counting out the steps under his breath.
He’s Comfortable With Goofy Sidekicks Just as the rom-com heroine has a sassy, less inhibited best friend (almost always played by Judy Greer), the hero has a sidekick of his own. As Harry Potter, Radcliffe spent 10 years with a best friend by his side at all times, which means he has plenty of experience talking about his relationship over a few beers or a game of cricket. Based on the trailer, it seems that Radcliffe’s put that to good use, and his chemistry with Driver gives the trailer some much needed goofiness. That height difference alone...
He’s Harry Potter It doesn’t matter whether you actually preferred Ron or Draco or even Cedric Diggory, every girl wants to date the Boy Who Lived. Well, every girl except Cho Chang, but to be fair, there were other factors at play there.
