Former Pussycat Dolls star Ashley Roberts is expanding her business empire with the launch of her own perfume. The Dancing On Ice judge unveiled her Ashley by Ashley Roberts fragrance with a launch party at a central London bar on Wednesday morning (12Mar14).
The pop star, who has already masterminded her own line of dresses, later took to her Instagram.com account to share pictures of herself at the launch, writing, "At my perfume launch!!! So excited!! #grateful!!"
The Goo Goo Dolls and Daughtry are teaming up for a North American amphitheatre and arena tour this summer (14). The two rock acts will hit the road together for a 37-date tour, which will begin in June and run to late-August (14).
Announcing the tour on Monday (10Mar14), Goo Goo Dolls frontman Johnny Rzeznik says, "We are excited to finally be teaming up with Daughtry. Not only are we big fans of Chris (Daughtry), but we think this is going to be a huge party for the fans of both our bands. The combination of the two will make for an awesome summer night of great American rock music."
Daughtry adds, "We are huge fans of the Goo Goo Dolls and have wanted to tour with them for a long time now. Everyone will see more than two great bands on stage. They're going to get an incredible show every night and have a summer to remember."
Singer Rita Ora has reportedly turned down an opportunity to join the X Factor in the U.K. as a judge. Reports suggest Simon Cowell offered the R.I.P. hitmaker $1.6 million (GBP1 million) to replace former Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger, who exited the show in February (14).
Singer Kimberly Wyatt feared her fairy tale wedding would be a washout when torrential rain and flooding hit the site in the run-up to her big day. The former Pussycat Dolls star wed model Max Rogers at a stately home in the English countryside earlier this month (Feb14) but weeks of downpours blighted the region as severe flooding hit the U.K.
The area around the wedding venue, in Surrey, England was among the worst affected and the American singer feared the wedding would be ruined. Disaster also struck elsewhere when several imported bridesmaids' dresses were impounded by U.S. border officials.
Wyatt tells British magazine Hello!, "A week before the wedding there were floods all around the venue, but on the day the sunshine came out - I was not expecting that. Also I found out afterwards the bridesmaids' dresses had got stuck at U.S. customs and that my sister only got her dress at 9.30am, and she was leaving for her flight at 10am... Other than that it all went smoothly."
The pop star also admits she flirted with disaster by appearing as a contestant on British reality TV show The Jump weeks before the nuptials without realising how dangerous the winter sports-based contest would be.
She adds, "It didn't really cross my mind how dangerous it would be when I signed on the dotted line. If anything, I felt skiing and skating was the perfect way to get in bridal shape. But when I got out there and saw how intense these sports were I knew I had to focus in order the stay in once piece."
Former Pussycat Dolls star Ashley Roberts broke down in tears during bridesmaid duties at her ex-bandmate Kimberly Wyatt's wedding over the weekend (22-23Feb14). The singer/dancer wed model Max Rogers in England on Saturday (22Feb14), and Roberts acted as her maid of honour.
However, the big day was emotional for Roberts, who started weeping as she followed her friend down the aisle.
She tells U.K. TV show Lorraine, "She was the first one (to marry) out of all of us and we were friends before we even got in the Dolls, and I got emotional. I was the maid of honour and I walked down that aisle and I just lost it. Max looked at me and was like, 'Don't do it!' It was a beautiful, beautiful day."
The pair joined the group in 2003 and performed together until 2010. They have since carved out TV careers in the U.K., with Wyatt acting as a judge on Got To Dance and Roberts sitting on the panel of Dancing on Ice.
Gina Linetti is a woman of many talents: she heads an all-woman dance troupe named "Floorgasm," she handcrafts Joseph Gordon-Levitt nesting dolls, and she's a psychological marvel. But her most surprising skill, which was revealed on the most recent episode of Brooklyn Nine Nine, is that she's an incredibly competent adult, who can balance a checkbook and is in the market for some real estate opportunities. Most notably, Jake's apartment, which he inherited from his grandmother when she died, and which he can no longer afford now that the building is going Co-Op. To boot, all of the other apartments within his price range are horrific. Naturally, Jake handles her offer to purchase the apartment with grace — and by grace, we mean he kicks her out of his apartment and whines to Santiago.
Meanwhile, Captain Holt and Sergeant Jeffords are doing the yearly team evaluations, and even though Jeffords started out the day full of hope and excitement, the more evaluations he witnesses, the more depressed he becomes. Diaz and Boyle also team up to enact revenge against Det. Lohank (Matt Walsh), the cop who works the weekend shift and insists on shaving at the desk he shares with Diaz.
In the spirit of this week's episode of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, we've done our own evaluations in order to determine which characters made the grade as the MVPs of "The Apartment," and which ones cracked under the pressure.
Peralta and Gina"The Apartment" gave us two important facts about Gina: she grew up with Jake, and even though she's strange and unpredictable, she's extremely adept at handling her finances. The writers have given us a few clues about Gina's competence over the season — most notably, her ability to determine the best candidate for the IT job and her position as Holt's right-hand woman — which helps make the contrast between her obsession with Lycra bodysuits and her thriftiness a bit less jarring. Luckily, Chelsea Peretti and Andy Samberg (who actually did grow up together, in real life!) are a wonderful team, and they kept the jokes flying all night long. - Holt: "I know you would all rather be at home, binge-watching media content." / Jake: "Whoa! I just started the second season of Media Content. No spoilers." - The most important change Peralta has made in the last year? "I wear a tie sometimes." - Gina: "Nana made me the intelligent, sensuous woman I am today." / Jeffords: "Weird way to describe a grandmother's influence on you." - Peralta: "I'm psyched to be hanging like this. Old school stylez. Stylez with a 'z'." / Gina: "Oh, I could tell." - Gina, on how they're looking: "Sexy, but not like we're trying too hard. Like, sure, we're trying, but it's almost effortless." - Jake has purchased six massage chairs (because they don't make a massage couch), three turntables (although Gina says his DJ skills sound like "Joy Behar falling down stairs"), and Olympus Has Fallen on On Demand 12 times. Gina: "Was it a difficult film for you to follow?" - Jake: "Says the woman who's been engaged eight times." / Gina: "But never married once! Game, set, match: Linetti." - Gina, on the loan shark: "He is a sea witch in disguise. Do not sing into his shell!" - Jake: "I'm gonna be a homeless cop. It's like a made-for-TV movie. Which I will not be able to watch, because I will be homeless." - After Jake and Gina look at an apartment filled with cats that's described as pet friendly, Jake asks "Do they allow cats?" Landlord: "I can't tell if you're being sarcastic." - Gina's life long dream is to be on Wife Swap, she calls gum "the dentist," and she thinks Ray J is a national treasure. So what? She's eclectic. - Jake, on the break room couch he's considering sleeping on: "It feels like scoliosis and smells like 10,000 butts." - Gina: "What do you want, Jake? I'm watching Oprah's Legends Ball, which is what I do every time a close friend hurts me."
Sgt. Jeffords Terry has the unfortunate task of assisting Holt with the squad evaluations, and although he starts out confident, the longer they drag on, the more faith he loses in his team. A lot of the comedy in these scenes comes from Terry Crews' reaction shots, and it's wonderful to watch all of the hope he had for positive evaluations actually drain from his face over the course of the episode. Crews is brilliant at physical comedy, and even when he's in the background, he's still often the funniest person in the room. - To Jake, after he accidentally calls Holt "dad": "Hey! Show your father some respect!" - On the squad: "I feel like a proud mama hen whose baby chicks have learned to fly!" - Santiago: "You didn't want me to say flaws that are actually positive. Like when the Sergeant says it's bad that he works out so much." / Terry: "Whoa! Why the drive-by?" - On why he closed the blinds in Holt's office: "I'm gonna yell at you, and I don't want Santiago to read my lips."- Terry: "Scully and Hitchcock only arrested 14 people, but that's eight more than last year!" / Holt: "They only arrested six people last year?!" - I could watch a full episode of just Holt and Terry repeating the phrase "proud mama hen" over and over again.
Scully and Hitchcock Despite them being personal evaluations, Scully and Hitchcock do theirs together, because Scully doesn't handle pressure well, and Scully sweating and whimpering while Hitchcock brags about all of the arrests they had was the best visual gag of the night. - Hitchcock: "Not to brag, but Scully and I have a combined 14 arrests! It would have been 20, but it's only 14." / Holt: "That's not enough arrests." / Hitchcock: "Well, who asked you? This is a self-evaluation!"
Former Pussycat Dolls star Kimberly Wyatt is a married woman after exchanging vows with her model boyfriend on Saturday (22Feb14). The singer wed Max Rogers in a low-key ceremony, three years after they met on the runway at the annual Clothes Show Live event in England in late 2011.
Rogers confirmed the news on his wedding day, writing in a post on his Twitter.com page, "Just married... And it was mint (good)," while Wyatt later added, "I'm a married woman!!"
Wyatt's former bandmate Ashley Roberts was among the first to congratulate the newlyweds, adding, "Congrats (sic) to the newly married couple... Was truly a fairy tale day. Here's to happily ever after."
The couple announced the engagement in September, 2013.
Legendary New York music mogul Marty Thau has died at the age of 75. Thau, who discovered and managed the New York Dolls and Suicide, suffered renal failure and passed away in Petersburg, Virginia on Thursday (13Feb14).
The New York City native started his music career as singer Tony Orlando's manager before he was signed to Neil Bogart's Cameo-Parkway Records label in Pennsylvania as a promotion executive.
He stuck with Bogart when the music legend sold the label to Allen Klein in 1968, and created Buddah Records, which boasted the Ohio Express, the Isley Brothers and Melanie and Edwin Hawkins Singers among a roster of talent.
Thau went on to become a partner in Inherit Productions, a management/ production/publishing company that represented Van Morrison and John Cale, but it was during his tenure as head of A&R at Paramount Records that his managing career really took off after catching an early New York Dolls gig.
As New York's punk scene took off in the mid-1970s, Thau launched Red Star Records and signed Suicide, The Real Kids, the Fleshtones and Richard Hell. He also produced early demos for Blondie and the Ramones.
Pop singer Nicole Scherzinger has reportedly given up her place on the judging panel of Britain's The X Factor to focus on relaunching her music career. The former Pussycat Dolls singer began as a judge on the now-defunct American version of the reality TV show, before transferring to the British panel in 2012 for two seasons.
However, she will not be returning for the upcoming 11th series, according to Britain's The Sun newspaper.
A source tells the publication, "It breaks her heart, but Nicole is sad not to be able to go back to the show this year. She has agonised over this decision for months.
"She has put her music career on hold last year but now she has to focus on her music."
Music mogul Simon Cowell will be returning for this year's series (13) and he is rumoured to be in talks with former judge Cheryl Cole to take a place on the panel with him.
Scherzinger reportedly signed a multi-million dollar record deal last year (12) to return to the charts following her 2011 debut solo album Killer Love.
