British actor Jamie Campbell Bower is celebrating after plans to tear down one of his favourite parts of London were ditched. Developers wanted to rejuvenate an area under the Queen Elizabeth Hall on the city's South Bank to make way for shops and restaurants.
The proposal attracted a petition signed by 6,000 opponents - including stars Russell Brand, Damien Hirst and Lauren Laverne - who wanted to preserve the walkway as it is a popular spot for skateboarders, and the plans have now been axed after 17 months of legal battles.
Harry Potter actor Bower was a keen supporter of the Long Live Southbank campaign, and he took to Twitter.com to celebrate the news, writing, "An amazing victory for @Long_Live_SB so happy and proud of the work they've done to protect the space x (sic)."
Bower recently suffered a nasty skating injury to his left arm.
Jessica Brown Findlay's ex-boyfriend has spoken out to condemn the hackers who stole saucy pictures of the actress and leaked them online.
The Downton Abbey star was among the female celebrities caught up in the Hollywood hacking scandal when Internet criminals broke into cloud storage devices and stole hundreds of personal files. Findlay was featured in a number of explicit pictures and a video, and her former partner Thomas Campbell, who dated the star for two years, admits he felt shocked and outraged by the leak.
He tells Britain's Daily Telegraph newspaper, "It was a huge invasion of privacy, I feel really sorry for her. The video was nothing to do with me. I haven't even seen it. But I do hope that anybody who sees it understands that grown adults do stuff for them that they don't expect the world to see."
Campbell and Findlay dated after meeting at art school in London.
The homeless man Miley Cyrus took to the MTV Video Music Awards narrowly avoided a big legal headache on Tuesday (16Sep14) after turning up for an arraignment hearing in Oregon 45 minutes late. Jesse Helt turned himself in to police in his native Oregon for a probation violation relating to a 2010 burglary last month (Aug14), days after accompanying the Wrecking Ball hitmaker to the MTV VMAs in Los Angeles, and he was released on $2,500 (£1,563) bail.
He was due back in court on Tuesday, but made prosecutors and Polk County Judge Monte Campbell wait as he ran behind schedule.
Upon arrival, Helt was rushed into the courtroom so the hearing could begin. He did not enter a plea and has been summoned to appear before the judge next month (Oct14).
Helt was convicted of criminal mischief and criminal trespass following the 2010 burglary, and in 2011 he broke his probation by failing to take a drug test, communicate with his probation officer or complete his community service.
Cyrus invited Helt to be her date to the MTV prizegiving and allowed him to accept her Video of the Year award on behalf of all homeless people in the U.S. in a bid to raise awareness about the plight of displaced youths.

Australian actor Jackman lauded Rivers' comedic presence and wrote, "We lost one of the true originals today. Joan Rivers. A force. You will be missed," while Depp called her "An Amazing Individual", and Mel Brooks wrote, "Joan Rivers never played it safe. She was the bravest of them all. Still at the top at the end. She will be sorely missed."

Girls star and creator Lena Dunham even poked fun at Rivers' self-depricating extensive plastic surgery, and quipped, "I told (comedian Marc) Maron I'd have a zinger when Joan died.
