Rapper Remy Ma's release from prison has been delayed following an incident behind bars last week (begs21Jul14). The Lean Back hitmaker, real name Reminisce Smith, was jailed for eight years in May, 2008 after she was found guilty of shooting Makeda Barnes-Joseph in the abdomen during an altercation in July, 2007.
Remy Ma, who was charged with assault, weapons possession and attempted coercion, maintained her innocence throughout the trial and twice attempted to appeal the conviction.
The 34 year old was scheduled for an early release on Thursday (31Jul14), after serving six years in jail, but an official at the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision explains she will have to stay at the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility for Women in New York for another week because of a phone violation on 21 July (14).
Ironically, the date coincides with a phone interview she conducted with New York radio DJ Angie Martinez, during which she revealed she is planning to chronicle her career comeback in a new reality show following her release.
Remy Ma is now expected to walk free next week (begs04Aug14).
Rapper French Montana has his record label boss Sean 'Diddy' Combs to thank for introducing him to his new girlfriend, reality TV star Khloe Kardashian. The Pop That hitmaker went public with his romance with Kim Kardashian's younger sister earlier this year (14) and he helped her celebrate her 30th birthday last month (Jun14) by showering her with $100,000 (£58,824)-worth of gifts, including a brand new SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle).
They conducted their first joint interview together on Thursday (24Jul14), when they appeared on New York's Power 105 radio station with host Angie Martinez, and Montana admitted mutual friend Combs played matchmaker for the pair.
He said, "Khloe's cool as hell. Puff (Combs) is the one who put us together."
The rapper also revealed he will be making a number of appearances on his girlfriend's family reality show, Keeping Up With the Kardashians, alongside Khloe's new brother-in-law Kanye West, adding, "They called me a couple of times for the new season, they got me. They got Kanye on there (too)."
West wed Khloe's sister Kim in May (14).
Khloe's relationship with Montana is her first since filing for divorce from her sports star husband Lamar Odom in December (13).
Rapper Remy Ma is preparing to document her music comeback in a new reality show following her release from prison next week (begs28Jul14). The Lean Back star, real name Reminisce Smith, has been granted an early release from the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility for Women in New York after completing six years of an eight-year sentence for her part in a 2007 shooting incident.
She is planning to resurrect her career as soon as she walks free and she claims her management representatives have pushed her into signing up for a reality series about her comeback after previously expressing an interest in the idea.
During a phone interview from prison, Remy Ma tells New York radio DJ Angie Martinez, "They're making me do it... I keep telling them no, it's too real. They don't wanna listen to me. I can't control my spur of the moment (decisions); they're making me do it. It's happening.
"It's about my career, it's gonna be about me leaving here (prison), me getting back into (my career)."
Remy, who used her time behind bars to obtain her college degree, won't be the only rapper to have a reality show - T.I., DMX and Ice-T have all given fans an insight into their private lives, while Ja Rule, who was released from prison last year (13), is set to front a new family show called Follow the Rules.

"I make my husband watch Girls. He would never admit that, but you've got to do what the wife does sometimes!" Actress Halle Berry enjoys tuning into Lena Dunham's hit TV drama with her husband, French actor Olivier Martinez.
Opera icon Placido Domingo has confirmed he will be performing before the World Cup final for a sixth time. The Spaniard will sing at Rio de Janeiro's HSBC Arena on 11 July (14), two days before the soccer final at Maracana Stadium.
The classical extravaganza will also feature pianist Lang Lang, soprano Ana Maria Martinez and the Orquestra Sinfonica Brasileira.
Domingo has been closely associated to the World Cup since 1970 and he sang the 1982 theme song in Spain, El Mundial.
He tells Billboard.com, "I have friends from all around the world, and they are really fanatics of soccer and music. It's great to see many of the people I know."
And he's hoping his native Spain can hold on to the Cup, adding, "I think they have as many chances as anybody else. There's Italy or Germany - they always smell the success. They are the other two teams that have been so many times champions, and they are ready."
Actress Halle Berry has been ordered to pay her ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry $16,000 (£10,000) a month in child support to help care for their daughter, Nahla. The former couple agreed to share custody of the six year old in 2012 after a bitter court battle, and now a Los Angeles judge has awarded French Canadian model Aubry financial aid.
The Oscar winner must also hand over $115,000 (£71,875) in retroactive support and a further $300,000 (£187,500) in attorney's fees, according to court documents filed following a 30 May (14) hearing.
The monthly payments will remain in place until Nahla turns 19 or graduates from high school, whichever comes first.
News of the child support ruling emerges just over 18 months after Aubry clashed with Berry's then-fiance Olivier Martinez over custody of Nahla at Thanksgiving in 2012.
Berry has since become a mother of two - she gave birth to son Maceo in October (13). She wed Martinez last summer (Jul13).
Puerto Rican rappers Calle 13 are set to be honoured by New York City officials. Rene Perez Joglar and Eduardo Jose Cabra Martinez will be feted by Mayor Bill de Blasio and City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito for their social justice efforts ahead of Sunday's (08Jun14) Puerto Rican Day Parade, which Joglar will lead.
Mark-Viverito tells Buzzfeed.com,"I approached (de Blasio) and told him I would like to jointly host (the reception at the mayor's official residence of Gracie Mansion) since I'm the first Puerto Rican in (my) position."
She adds of Calle 13, "I believe when you have a level of notoriety or a prominent position it's important when you're not afraid to express an opinion, especially the way they challenge through their lyrics. They speak out against injustice and issues that others may shy away from. I may not agree with them on everything, but the fact that they even dare to challenge people is good."
Joglar admits he is honoured to be recognised and is looking forward to hosting the parade.
He says, "I am proud to have been chosen to preside over the Puerto Rican Day parade in New York. This is a celebration that permits us to come together to honour our culture and celebrate our nationality and identity."
The Hunger Games assistant director Peter Rodger has teamed up with the father of a student his son killed in a rampage in Isla Vista, California last month (May14) in a bid to stamp out gun violence in the U.S. The filmmaker's son, Elliot Rodger, embarked on a vengeful killing spree on 23 May (14), shooting six people dead and injuring 13 others as part of a protest against the pretty University of the City of Santa Barbara girls who had rejected him.
Attorney Richard Martinez's son Christopher was among those killed in the incident, and the grieving dad recently put out a public plea to meet with Rodger in a bid to make sense of the madness.
The director granted the request and the two fathers met up at a coffee shop in Santa Barbara on Sunday (01Jun14), when they agreed to team up for a new campaign to make sure that such a tragedy never happens again.
Martinez says, "We plan to work together so other families such as ours will not suffer as ours have. This was a private conversation between grieving fathers who've reached common ground."
Singer/actor Kris Kristofferson has been cast as former U.S. President Andrew Jackson in a new TV miniseries. The 77 year old will star as the American leader in Texas Rising, an eight-hour series about the Texas revolution in the 1830s, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Executive producer Leslie Greif says, "This iconic story and role really needed an American who is able to command the screen and captivate audiences.
"For me, Kris was an obvious choice, there aren't too many actors that are able to embody this character and the stature, strength and liberty to play the part."
He will join a cast which includes Brendan Fraser, Olivier Martinez and Bill Paxton. The show will debut in the U.S. next year (15).
