The Dame has spoken! While the lovely Helen Mirren has no qualms about people getting plastic surgery in general, she does believe in there being limits. The actress recently admitted in the September issue of InStyle magazine that she doesn't approve of young people altering their bodies. Dame Helen stated in the interview that, “The only thing I don’t like on young people is plastic surgery." Furthermore, “The purity of youthful beauty is so fantastic to me that it’s horrific when young girls get fake things.”
The Oscar winner has never gone under the knife herself, but one look at her on the red carpet is enough to show anyone that this 66-year-old Dame doesn't need to -- she looks fantastic! Mirren is one of the few remaining icons of classic Old Hollywood who worries more about her acting craft than her next Botox appointment. Granted, Mirren's not going so far as to start a league on this issue, but I agree with her outlook on the whole matter. As if one look at Megan Fox and Joan Rivers isn't enough to convince you to just say no to surgery, now it's been royally recommended as well. Wait until things start to sag, then go get tucked.

Actress, singer, and now -- life saver? Lara Lundstrom Clarke believes her life was saved by a chance encounter with Gwyneth Paltrow on the morning of the September 11th, 2001 terrorist attack on the World Trade Center. Apparently Clarke, who worked at the Twin Towers, was rushing to get to work on time when she jaywalked in order to get to the subway station, but was almost hit by Paltrow's car in the process. The near-collision caused Clarke to miss her train, and by the time she got to work, the first plane had hit the building. Paltrow's publicist confirmed that the story was accurate and that the actress was "deeply moved" by the story.
Is there anything our dear Gwyneth can't do? I'm sorry, I can't hold it in any longer -- this is absolutely RIDICULOUS! The actress should be getting no credit for saving this woman's life. She saved a woman's life by almost hitting her with her car? The lady had probably already missed the subway, and there's no telling how close she was to making the train. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad the woman is alright either way, but Paltrow was probably too busy talking on the phone ordering a new Antonio Lupi Baia bath tub for her bedroom to even notice she almost ran someone over. And even if there is a small chance that the actress had anything to do with significantly delaying Clarke's arrival to work, let's not go overboard and make her out to be a heroine when all she did was prove she has good breaks on her car.

Even though she's receiving the majority of the press coverage these days, Kim Kardashian isn't the only celebrity getting married (although I'm sure she would like to think otherwise). It has been confirmed that House's Amber Tamblyn and comedian David Cross are engaged! The engagement was rumored to have taken place several weeks ago, but no details have been announced yet as to when the big day will be. Either way, this will be the first trip down the aisle for both stars -- a rare thing indeed in Hollywood. Tamblyn is most highly recognized for her roles in Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and Joan of Arcadia, while Cross played Arrested Development's Tobias Fünke (but I mostly remember him from Scary Movie 2). Sounds like a match made in heaven!
The couple have been dating for 2 years now and while some may find their 19 year age difference to be a little disturbing (Tamblyn is 28 and Cross is 47), it's important to remember that you can't help who you love so age shouldn't make a difference. Unless of course you're this couple....then it's just plain creepy. Congratulations to them!

People enjoy joking about Scientology. Next to laughing about Paris Hilton's herpes medication, the religion is one of the most revisited topics in comedy routines today. And for the most part, that's fine -- chuckles for everyone are allowed. But one person we all should be aware of before cracking up about the L. Ron Hubbard-founded Church is Kelly Preston, who recently told Health magazine that the religion helped her cope with the death of the 16 year-old son she had with John Travolta, Jett, who passed away after suffering a seizure in January of 2009. On what pushed her through the unthinkably tough time, Preston explained "To be honest, [it was] the Scientology Center. I don't know if I would have made it without it." It appears as though the religion also encouraged her to push forward with her life, because then she explained how she found out she was pregnant two years after Jett's death: "We [had been trying] for quite a few years. When I found out I was pregnant, I was floored. I'd snuck out of bed and then came back and woke Johnny up in bed. We both started crying. It was wonderful." So even though we can't erase the Scientology episode of South Park from the world's records, we should really start focusing more on how incredible it is when people overcome a tremendous tragedy, instead of obsessing over how crazy or strange the beliefs that helped them keep going are.
Winning an Oscar at the Academy Awards is like the Holy Grail to all aspiring actresses. This honor shows that you have the caliber and talent to really make strides in this demanding industry. I mean, come on, you've reached Meryl Streep status -- this is every celeb's dream come true. Except if you're Jennifer Hudson, that is. In a recent interview with Self magazine, the star admitted that her biggest accomplishment thus far is her extreme weight loss, not her Oscar.
Hudson is quoted saying, "I'm prouder of my weight loss than my Oscar!" See, now this is why I have a problem with formerly plus-sized stars losing weight -- it makes them stupid. Don't get me wrong, I think it's great that she didn't let herself go after having a baby (she's dropped over 80 pounds) and has decided to become more healthy, etc. It's important to feel good about yourself and who you are, but she's taken it to the other extremely and it's gone and messed up her priorities. I hear more about Hudson's weight loss than I do about her singing or acting career. Jennifer, you won an Oscar! That's huge and many actresses would trade their face-lifts and boob jobs to be so highly recognized by the entertainment powers-that-be. Now she's too obsessed with what slim-fitting outfit she's going to wear on the next red carpet to even think about trying for another nod from the Academy. Not even her child takes the top billing on being her greatest accomplishment. Tell me that's not messed up.
Hudson states in the interview that "I didn't even know I was considered plus-sized until I came to Hollywood...I thought I was the perfect size!" She was the perfect size! With a voice like that, no one was worrying about her weight, and she accomplished so much musically both on American Idol and in film. She hasn't won anything since becoming so skinny (probably too busy running on a treadmill). Let's put vanity on the back-burner and focus on that potential career of yours. So put down the weights and pick up a microphone girl!

The hills are alive with the sound of dancing! The newest contestants of the widely popular reality dance show, Dancing with the Stars, will be announced on August 29th, so of course rumors are already circulating about which celebs will take their turn on the dance floor. While the show does serve as a dance competition, it also seems to provide B, C, and even D-list stars with a chance to help boost their popularity. So who is looking to skyrocket into the A-list spotlight? Reports are claiming that The Hills star, Kristin Cavallari, is signed on to compete in DWTS' upcoming, lucky number 13 season.
Cavallari is mostly known for her reality TV work when she originally started stirring up trouble on MTV's Laguna Beach, and then later took over for Lauren Conrad on The Hills. She won't be the first Hills star to set her sights on the mirror ball trophy though. Audrina Patridge also hit the dance floor last year and even parlayed her time on the show into a poorly-rated VH1 reality series. While Patridge was unable to take home the prize, perhaps Cavallari will let her feet doing the talking for a change and become the hit of the ballroom.

There have been stars in the past who've come to the conclusion that acting is not for them. The fame, the money, the constant adoration -- who needs it, right? Apparently not Taylor Momsen, who has decided to swap scripts for sheet music from now on. Momsen has had her fill of the whole acting gig and told Elle magazine that she's "quit acting" and wants to focus solely on her music career.
In November, Momsen began an "indefinite hiatus" from the hit CW show, Gossip Girl, and must have caught the musician bug during her time off since it was confirmed in May that she would not be reprising her role as Jenny Humphrey on the show. And now she's ending her acting career altogether by retiring at the ripe old age of 18. That even puts Amanda Bynes' retirement to shame, but of course we all know that didn't last very long. Perhaps Momsen will have a change of heart as well? She explained her decision to the magazine saying, "I quit Gossip Girl and now tour and am in a band...that's pretty much all I want to do. Hopefully, I'll be able to only do that for the rest of my life." Until she decides to prematurely retired from that industry as well. The optimist in me wants to say she'll stick it out until she's 25 (that is a quarter of a century old after all), but I feel like 21 is the more accurate number. She'll be too busy getting drunk and giving foul-mouthed interviews (yet again) -- a very musician-type thing to do might I add. Maybe then it would be time for her to start her very own clothing line. Either way, happy retirement and good luck with your new music career Taylor!

There's a saying: those who can't do, teach. Well if that's the case then should it also go: those who can't act, direct? Not in Courtney Cox's case. She seems to be taking the world of television by storm these days. Like many actors and actresses before her, the former Friends star is going to try her hand in the director's chair, but it's not because she can't find work elsewhere. In fact, Cox will actually be directing an episode of the same hilarious show that she just happens to be the lead of: Cougar Town. An ABC spokesperson confirmed that the actress “is currently scheduled to direct an upcoming episode” of the sitcom during Season 3. Who knows, if it all goes well, the lovely actress may take on the director title on a more permanent basis. She also serves as the executive producer of the show. Talk about having your cake and eating it too.
This will be Courtney's first time ever directing for television. In 2008 she directed a short film starring Laura Dern and called The Monday Before Thanksgiving, which Cox also appeared in. She certainly likes to cast herself in everything she directs so far -- who does she think she is, Clint Eastwood? Cougar Town is set to return mid-season, so in the meantime Cox will be guest starring on former Friends cast member Lisa Kudrow's Showtime series, Web Therapy, next month. She certainly seems to be keeping busy.

It's common for brides to experience the pre-wedding jitters from all the stress of planning and preparing that has to be done. And with the wedding only days away now, Kim Kardashian is feeling the pressure. The reality icon certainly isn't getting cold feet about tying the knot to her soon-to-be hubby, Kris Humphries, but the bride confesses she's definitely nervous about walking down the aisle by herself on the big day. The star admitted backstage at the Do Something Awards that "I was so nervous to walk down the aisle by myself...for some reason I wasn't thinking, like, 'Oh, Bruce [Jenner] will be there right with me,' so I was thinking, 'I'm gonna fall, I'm gonna faint, oh my God, my train!'" Kim's biological father passed away in 2003 from cancer at the age of 59. - US
This year's MTV Video Music Awards will pay tribute to the pop diva, Britney Spears. Executive producer of the awards show, Amy Doyle, confirmed the news stating, "Britney will be at the show and we'll be paying tribute to her." Spears certainly has certainly made quite a comeback for herself, so it seems pretty fitting. Doyle adds, "She was having an incredible year and she is so beloved by the MTV audience that we started to think what could we do that would be a different experience (from years past)....obviously everything from her choreography to her fashion to her videos will be (covered). We said 'let's challenge ourselves to do something unique.'" In addition to Britney's tribute, producers are also in talks about acknowledging Amy Winehouse as well, who died in London on July 23rd. It sounds like this is sure to be a show you won't want to miss. The VMAs will take place this year on August 28th. - THR
As we draw nearer and nearer to a new Dancing with the Stars season, the rumor mill is circulating double time as to who the new round of contestants will be. Lately there's been a lot of talk that Queen Latifah and Snooki are possibly joining the cast of celebs, but it turns out these rumors are completely false. Latifah tweeted yesterday that even though she's Queen, she won't be taking home that mirrorball trophy saying, "No truth to the rumors of me doing Dancing With the Stars. Love the show though so I'll be watching just like you!" A source is also claiming that Snooki has no intention of signing up for the show either stating, "It's 100 percent false." That's too bad...I was hoping that little reality diva would bring the fist pump to the ballroom. Perhaps she already gets her dancing fill at the clubs. The lineup for season 13 will be revealed on Aug. 29 during an episode of Bachelor Pad. DWTS will premiere on Sept. 19. - E!
Looks like some Jersey Shore antics are already rubbing off on Britney Spears. The pop queen got up close and personal with Pauly D onstage during her Femme Fatale concert Thursday night and gave the Shore star his very own lap dance. The playful interaction between the two was complete with handcuffs and a pink feather boa (what self-respecting lap dance wouldn't have those two things?), much to the crowd's delight. Check out the video below:
This wouldn't be the first victim, I mean man, that Spears romanced on stage, but it is the first celebrity. Throughout her summer tour, Britney has regularly brought a male audience member on stage for the sultry song Lace & Leather. During one performance she even treated boyfriend Jason Trawick to a pole dance in New York and mid-way through joked with the crowd saying, "He's never coming back!" Pauly D certainly didn't seem to mind the extra attention though and even tweeted about the ordeal later saying, “Wow Got On Stage With @britneySpears And She Gave Me A Lap Dance !!!!!” He then proceeded to add a link to a photo of himself with Spears behind him on stage. The DJ is spinning for the singer for six dates of her Femme Fatale concert tour this month, so I wouldn't be surprised if there was a little encore dance in store for the remaining performances. Get ready Pauly, B-Spears has got her eye on you!
