British actress Pamela Cundell has died at the age of 95. The veteran star passed away on Saturday (14Feb15) but the cause of death has not been made public.
Cundell enjoyed roles in hit British TV shows including World War II sitcom Dad's Army, The Benny Hill Show, long-running soap opera EastEnders, and drama series Big Deal in her 51-year career.
She is survived by her daughter Katherine and two grandchildren.
Celebrated Cuban country singer Celina Gonzalez has died at the age of 85. The veteran star passed away in Havana on Wednesday (04Feb15).
Gonzalez rose to fame as one half of the duo Celina and Reutilio, which she formed with her guitarist husband Reutilio Dominguez in 1947.
The pair scored hits with tracks like Yo soy el punto cubano and Santa Barbara, which was later recorded by Celia Cruz, but disbanded in the 1960s, so Gonzalez could embark on a solo career.
Gonzalez, who lost her husband in 1971, later teamed up with their son, Reutilio, Jr., and launched themselves as a new music duo.
The singer enjoyed career highlights performing with stars like Benny More, Barbito Diez, Nat King Cole and Pedro Vargas, among many others.
She was nominated for a Latin Grammy Award in 2001 for her album Cincuenta anos... como una reina.
Pop punk Charli Xcx's panic attacks almost cost her the chance to work with top hitmakers Benny Blanco and Cashmere The Cat when she dived through a window to escape a meeting. The Boom Clap singer reveals she was working through new music with the duo when she lost her cool.
She tells Rolling Stone, "I was in the studio with Benny Blanco and Cashmere The Cat (and) I basically ran out through a window on the first floor and dragged half the blinds with me.
"It was either that or walking past them and having to endure a really long conversation about why I was freaking out, so I was like, 'Window it is!'"
The singer has got a handle on her panic attacks but even she admits she's the most awkward pop star: "I'm not supereasy to talk to a lot of the time. I'm just kind of weird."
Legendary singer Peggy Lee's daughter Nicki Lee Barbour Foster has died, aged 71. Barbour Foster passed away on Friday (14Nov14) in Twin Falls, Idaho after suffering complications from a stroke.
She grew up in Los Angeles but moved to New York in 1983 to help her mother launch the autobiographical music Peg on Broadway.
Foster went on to direct children's community theatre and also starred in stage and radio productions.
She also served as director emeritus of Peggy Lee Associates, the company she helped create in order to manage her late mum's catalogue of more than 1,100 songs, as well as branding, licensing and development activities related to the Fever hitmaker.
Her mother and father, Dave Barbour, first met when they were performing with legendary bandleader Benny Goodman. They wed in 1943 and split in 1951. Barbour passed away in 1965 and Lee died in 2002.
Jennifer Lopez has revealed she has been the victim of abuse in past relationships, confessing her "soul was diminished" by the crushing treatment from one unnamed ex. The singer, who portrayed an abused wife in the film Enough, has opened up about the mental and emotional torment she suffered in her upcoming memoir, True Love, which is due out in November (14).
And she admits more than one former lover treated her badly.
In a excerpt released to People magazine, Lopez writes, "I've never gotten a black eye or busted lip, but I have been in relationships where I felt abused one way or another: mentally, emotionally, verbally. I know what it feels like for your soul to be diminished by the way your loved one is treating you.
"Every day that you don't walk out that door, every day you accept things in your partner and in yourself, is a day that you're saying, 'It's OK'."
In the book, she also opens up about her high-profile romances with ex-fiancee Ben Affleck and dancer Casper Smart, while Lopez reveals the moment she knew her third marriage to crooner Marc Anthony was over.
She writes, "Anybody looking from the outside in would have thought my life was great. I had a husband and two beautiful children. I was on American Idol and my new single On the Floor had gone to number one all over the world. What people didn't know was that life really wasn't that good. My relationship was falling apart and I was terrified.
"It was one of those moments when you're so scared you can't even scream. In a blur of fear and panic, I looked at (manager) Benny (Medina) and my mother and blurted out the words, 'I don't think I can be with Marc anymore'. Then I burst into tears."
Lopez tells People that Anthony has been supportive of her new literary endeavour, and had no problem with his ex-wife revealing the details of their marriage break-up.
She explains, "He read it and said, 'Wow, I didn't realise you were going through this whole journey'."
Jennifer Lopez has landed Oscar winner Barry Levinson as a director for her latest TV series. The Rain Man director will take charge of the pilot episode and executive produce the 13-episode drama series Shades of Blue.
Lopez, who will also executive produce the project with her American Idol colleague Ryan Seacrest and manager Benny Medina, will play single mum and conflicted cop Harlee McCord in the show.
Levinson says, "It's an exciting project to be working on with Jennifer."

Let’s not allow Jimmy Kimmel to soil the good name of Friends fan-fiction. Although the late night host’s heavily funded but halfhearted attempt at the time-honored art form warranted few laughs, it did remind us that there are plenty of worthwhile pieces of writing floating around the Internet devoted to the West Village sextet. Some are admirable in quality, others in sheer passion. And some deserve a hat tip simply because of how damn weird they are.
Following Kimmel’s reunion of Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, and Lisa Kudrow, we hit the dark corners of the web to round up the strangest pieces of Friends fan-fiction we could find. Some rearrange the narrative of the beloved show in creative ways, some test the very fabrics of the laws of reality… and some simply vie to be as disturbing as conceivably possible. Take your pick.

It had been happening all night, specifically when they had been dancing. He was still slightly in shock that she had agreed to dance with him at all. Dance DJ Kaskade has distanced himself from label bosses' decision to sue YouTube.com sensation Michelle Phan over accusations she illegally used the star's music in her popular make-up videos. Ultra Records executives launched legal action against Phan in a Los Angeles court last Wednesday (16Jul14), claiming she breached copyright laws by using their clients' songs in her viral clips, which have racked up more than 150 million views online.
They are demanding all profits from her YouTube channel, which has been running since 2007.
However, Kaskade has since spoken out via Twitter.com to insist he is not personally involved in the suit.
On Saturday (19Jul14), he shared a link to a blog post he had written a month ago insisting copyright law was outdated in today's tech-driven world, and he reiterated his sentiments again over the weekend by posting, "Copyright law is a dinosaur, ill-suited for the landscape of today's media."
He then made it clear he had no issues with Phan, stating, "I'm not suing @MichellePhan + @ultrarecords isn't my lapdog. I can't do much about the lawsuit except voice support for her."
He also quipped, "I find that @MichellePhan has great taste in music... and knows secrets on how to make my eyes really POP. What's not to like?"
Meanwhile, Phan's lawyers are preparing to fight the allegations, insisting Ultra chiefs allowed her to feature tracks by artists like Kaskade and Deadmau5 as they believed her videos "showcased (them) to an international audience". They are now planning to countersue, reports TMZ.com.
Ultra Records is also home to artists including Steve Aoki, Benny Benassi, Calvin Harris and David Guetta.
Label bosses behind dance DJs Kaskade and Deadmau5 have launched legal action against online sensation Michelle Phan over copyright issues relating to the music she uses in her popular YouTube.com videos. Phan has been dishing out make-up tips to fans via her own YouTube channel since 2007, but Ultra Records executives claim her viral videos, which have racked up more than 150 million views, feature hits she does not own the rights to.
They filed suit in a Los Angeles court on Wednesday (16Jul14) and are demanding all profits from her YouTube venture.
Phan's Internet success led to endorsement deals with soda brand Dr. Pepper and cosmetics giant Lancome, in addition to landing the 27 year old her own make-up line.
Ultra Records is also home to artists including Steve Aoki, Benny Benassi, Calvin Harris and David Guetta.
