Scottish singer Kt Tunstall is moving to Los Angeles to launch her music career in the U.S. The Suddenly I See hitmaker is quitting her native Britain to build a new life in California and hopes to concentrate on writing film scores and movie songs.
She tells Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper, "I'm moving to L.A. next week. So much stuff happens there - all the big opportunities, so it's the obvious place to be. I'm now making a living by doing film scores and songs for end credit rolls on movies. It's very different to making an album, but I'm hoping it will lead me back there."
Tunstall hopes to start work on a new record once she builds a studio at her new home in California.
She adds, "For the next LP, I'm going to build a studio in my new Venice Beach home and do it my way."

Electronic music pioneer Gary Numan has scheduled his most creepy gig - in a cemetery. The robot-voiced Cars singer will perform at the Masonic Lodge at Los Angeles' Hollywood Forever Cemetery just two weeks before Halloween (17Oct13).
The British new-wave star will showcase material from his new album Splinter (Songs From A Broken Mind) during the show.
Numan is currently on tour in the U.S. supporting Nine Inch Nails.
He's not the only Brit set for a creepy concert at the Masonic Lodge - KT Tunstall will perform there on 11 October (13).
The odd venue will also host upcoming shows by Midlake and Grouplove.
Blur star Alex James and TV chef Jamie Oliver teamed up on stage at an English music festival on Sunday (01Sep13) to perform with comedy band The Cuban Brothers. The two food-loving pals, who hosted the Big Feastival event on James' Oxfordshire farm, played bass and drums with the group after agreeing to perform at the last minute.
Cuban Brothers frontman Miguel Mantovani tells the BBC, "It was unrehearsed. They jumped on stage with us and they can hold their own. They're great guys and it was nice to have them join us."
It's not the first time James and Oliver have played at the festival - they took to the stage last year (12) for the event's debut and performed as The Farm Lovin' Criminals.
This year's festival was headlined by The Feeling and featured sets by Mark Owen and KT Tunstall.
Scottish singer Kt Tunstall has thrown her support behind plans to stage a 24-hour Twitter strike in a bid to persuade heads of the social networking website to crack down on abusive users. The Suddenly I See hitmaker has publicly backed a campaign started by British writer Caitlin Moran, who is calling for Twitter users to boycott the website for a day on 4 August (13) to protest against the rise of online bullying on the site.
Tunstall is adamant something needs to be done about abuse on the website, and she is urging others to follow Moran's lead.
In a post on her Twitter.com page, Tunstall writes, "Following Caitlin Moran's lead to leave Twitter for 24 hrs (sic) this Sunday. I (love) Twitter, but abhorrent abuse needs to end."
The singer also posted a link to a blog about cases of online abuse on Twitter.
The news comes just days after editors of Britain's GQ magazine went public with hundreds of abusive tweets they received from One Direction fans over the publication of an article on the band. The nasty messages included violent and explicit language, as well as threats to bomb the magazine's offices.
Scottish star Kt Tunstall has blamed the intensity of touring for the breakdown of her marriage. The singer split from her drummer husband Luke Bullen last year (12) after four years of marriage, and their divorce was recently given the green light by a judge in London.
Tunstall has now opened up about the reasons behind the split, and insists her tour schedule took a toll on the couple's relationship.
She tells Britain's Daily Mail, "Being a touring musician can be very intense. Luke and I played in the band for a year before we got together as a couple, so it was always impossible to untangle our personal lives from the music.
"I could have patched things up, but I didn't want to do that. I'm nearly 38, and I'm a different person. Music isn't who I am any more - it's what I do."
Bullen filed for divorce citing the star's "unreasonable behaviour" as the reason behind his petition. The divorce is expected to be finalised later this summer (13).
Scottish singer Kt Tunstall has opened up about her devastation following the death of her father last year (12), revealing he was suffering from Parkinson's disease before he was killed in a cycling accident. The Suddenly I See hitmaker lost her dad, 73-year-old university lecturer David Tunstall, last summer (Aug13), and admits she went through into a "tsunami of emotions" in the aftermath of the tragedy.
Tunstall reveals her dad was in failing health at the time of his death, but he was determined to remain as fit and active as he possibly could.
She tells Britain's Daily Mail, "Losing Dad made me examine my own life, and my priorities have changed. He had Parkinson's disease, so he wasn't well. But he died as a result of a cycling accident. It was very sad, as he was always an impressive man physically. He ran marathons and hated getting old. But he had lived a good life. He didn't want to stick around in a bad shape."
Singer Kt Tunstall has been left homeless after selling her mansion following the collapse of her marriage. The Scottish star split from husband Luke Bullen last year (12) four years after their wedding, and her divorce was approved by a court judge in London last week (ends24May13).
She vowed to make huge changes in her life following the marriage breakdown and the death of her adoptive father just weeks earlier - so she sold her luxury home and her car, and now has nowhere to live.
Tunstall tells British magazine Event, "I felt like the biggest rock 'n' roll cliche. I had everything I wanted - money in the bank, a career, a marriage, a house - and I wasn't happy. And now I don't have a lot of those things. All my big possessions are gone. I don't have a house, or a car, I'm not sure where I'm going to live... (But) I'm not scared any more. I'm not anxious about always doing the right thing."
Scottish singer Kt Tunstall is one step closer to single life after her divorce was approved by a judge on Thursday (23May13). The Suddenly I See hitmaker married Luke Bullen on Scotland's Isle of Skye in 2008, but the couple separated late last year (12) and the drummer filed for divorce citing the star's "unreasonable behaviour".
The case went to court in London on Thursday and Judge Susannah Walker signed off on a decree nisi, declaring the marriage had "broken down irretrievably".
During the brief hearing at London's High Court, the judge ordered Tunstall to cover the legal costs stemming from Bullen's divorce application.
The singer must now wait for the issue of a decree absolute, which will be granted in around six weeks' time to formally dissolve the union.
