Pale Rider screenwriter Dennis Shryack dies

Screenwriter Dennis Shryack has died, aged 80.
Shryack passed away on Wednesday (14Sep16) of congestive heart failure in his hometown of Duluth, Minnesota, his daughter Jennifer confirmed, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
His best known projects include Tom Hanks’ 1989 comedy Turner & Hooch and two Clint Eastwood-directed action films; 1977’s The Gauntlet and 1985’s Pale Rider, which Eastwood also starred in. At the time, Pale Rider was the highest-grossing western to be released in the 80s.
He also wrote the 1980s Chuck Norris films Code of Silence and Hero and the Terror, Rent-a-Cop, starring Burt Reynolds and Liza Minnelli, and the 1990 drama Cadence which starred Martin Sheen and his son Charlie.
Shyrack’s other credits include Flashpoint, The Good Guys and the Bad Guys, The Car, and Run, a thriller which starred Patrick Dempsey in 1991. The screenwriter’s last credit was the TV movie western Aces ‘N’ Eights in 2008.
He is survived by his wife Kathy and his other child Chris.
