DAVIS GUGGENHEIM's WAITING FOR SUPERMAN, LINXIN FAN's LAST TRAIN HOME, Inside Job by Charles Ferguson, Alex Gibney's Client 9: The Rise and Fall of Eliot Spitzer and Tim Hetherington and Sebastian Junger's Restrepo will compete for this year's 2011 Directors Guild of America Award Best Documentary prize.
The Directors Guild of America released their five nominees for best director of a documentary. And of course it's filled with those movies you meant to see all year because you think of yourself as a cultured and well rounded person, but you never got around to seeing them because even though you had the chance to you really wanted to check out Piranha 3D. No need to get worried, there is still plenty of time to see these films, but of course by the time you eventually get around to watching them a whole slew of other great documentaries will be around. And...wait a second, where is Exit Through the Gift Shop? That film kicked all kinds of ass!
