Film regulators in America slapped an R-rating on the horror movie, in which Craig and his new real-life wife Rachel Weisz play a couple living in a haunted property. It means viewers under the age of 17 must be accompanied by an adult.
Officials at the Motion Picture Association ratings board said the movie required the rating because of "some violence" - but chiefs at Morgan Creek Productions are planning to make changes to the final edit so it can be released with a PG-13 classification.
Executive Vice President of marketing Greg Mielcarz tells The Wrap, "They gave us a list of several things in the movie that they thought should be cut. We're going to... work with them together to ensure that we receive a PG-13."
The film is set for release in September (11).
The production company of Lindsay Lohan's film Georgia Rule have laughed off reports they have been further infuriated by the star's partying over the weekend, insisting "she's on her own time."
Lohan landed in trouble with James G. Robinson, CEO of Morgan Creek Productions, last week when she cancelled Wednesday's filming because she was suffering from "exhaustion," despite the fact she had been partying at West Hollywood nightspot Guy's the night before.
Robinson fired off an angry letter to "irresponsible and unprofessional" Lohan, fuming, "You have acted like a spoiled child and in doing so have alienated many of your co-workers and endangered the quality of the movie."
However, on Friday, Lohan and her new boyfriend Harry Morton partied at Hollywood clubs Les Deux and Hyde, before flying to Las Vegas to attend the Beacher's Madhouse show on Saturday.
Morgan Creek insist Lohan can party as much as she wants until she commences filming again tomorrow, when she will be expected to be on her best behavior.
Greg Mielcarz, vice president of worldwide publicity, tells the New York Daily News, "We're off production now, so she's on her own time.
"We're off until Wednesday. We're hoping she comes to work on time then."
