Irish actor Chris O'dowd is adapting his hit U.K. sitcom Moone Boy for U.S. audiences. The Bridesmaids star won an International Emmy Award for the comedy show last year (13) and now TV executives at America's ABC network are interested in developing a U.S. version for viewers.
O'Dowd will write the script and serve as executive producer, although he is not expected to reprise his role as sarcastic Sean, a grown-up imaginary friend of titular character Martin Moone.
The third season of the U.K. series, which is set in Ireland, is scheduled to air in 2015.
Episodes of the original Moone Boy series, co-created by Nick Vincent Murphy, began airing on America's PBS network earlier this year (14).
Stevie Wonder cancelled a transatlantic flight to record his contribution to a charity cover of the Beach Boys classic God Only Knows after missing the session when he fell sick. The soul legend is one of several stars who sing a line in the track, including Sir Elton John, Pharrell Williams, One Direction, Chris Martin, and Kylie Minogue.
However, Wonder was forced to sit out the main recording session when he was struck down with a bout of influenza, and when he had recovered enough, the Superstition hitmaker cancelled his flight home to return to the studio.
Sam Walker, creative director at Karmarama, the team behind the fundraising track, says, "This was almost certainly the lowest point in the whole project. We were gutted and were on the verge of giving up but then another call came through, to say that he was back in if we could record and shoot him the following day.
"He would move his flights back if we could say yes in the next fifteen minutes. It took about 30 seconds to make the decision."
When Wonder finally got to sing his line in the song, Walker and his team watched in awe: "It sounded amazing and we were blown away. Without doubt, having been that close to not getting him, it is definitely one of the highest points in the whole two and a half years. And to top it all off he's such nice bloke as well."
The song was recorded in aid of the BBC's Children in Need fundraising telethon, which is due to take place next month (Nov14).
Coldplay frontman Chris Martin has turned down a top civic honour in his hometown because he doesn't think he deserves it. An internet campaign started in July (14) calling for the singer to receive the Freedom of Exeter, the town in Devon, England, where he grew up, and the drive gained momentum when it was backed by the area's member of parliament, Ben Bradshaw.
City council leaders contacted Martin when they were alerted to the campaign, but the star insisted he does not feel worthy of the prestigious award.
A council spokesperson tells Britain's The Western Daily Press newspaper, "He has said he would like to be considered for the award but not at the moment as he hasn't yet done enough for the city."
Actor Nicholas Hoult has broken his silence over ex-girlfriend Jennifer Lawrence's nude photo scandal, branding the hacking a "shame". The Hunger Games star was one of dozens of female celebrities targeted in the recent Hollywood hack, which led to personal naked pictures of the stars posted on the Internet.
Lawrence spoke out about the "disgusting" incident for the first time in a recent interview with Vanity Fair, dubbing it a "sex crime" and "sexual violation".
She went on to reveal the pictures were originally intended for an unnamed boyfriend, believed to be her X-Men: First Class co-star Hoult.
She said, "Every single thing that I tried to write made me cry or get angry. I started to write an apology, but I don't have anything to say I'm sorry for. I was in a loving, healthy, great relationship for four years. It was long distance, and either your boyfriend is going to look at porn or he's going to look at you."
During a visit to U.S. TV show Good Day New York on Thursday (08Oct14), Hoult opened up about the hacking for the first time, saying, "It's shocking that things like that happen in the world. It's a shame."
Ironically, Hoult was on the show to promote his new film Young Ones alongside director Jake Paltrow, who is Gwyneth Paltrow's brother and former brother-in-law of Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, who is rumoured to be currently dating Lawrence.
Jennifer Lawrence's ideal guy is a reality TV fan, who isn't afraid to fart in front of her.
The Hunger Games star, who is reportedly dating Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, tells Vanity Fair magazine she's not into flashy guys who love to party, insisting her perfect date night is one spent on the sofa in front of the TV. She explains, "I would just rather have somebody that has the same taste in reality TV (as me)... (someone who) isn't afraid to fart in front of me... I'd rather have just a peaceful time. (Those relationships) are deeper because you can be your true self with somebody, and somebody can be their true self with you."
And she'd rather leave the drama on a film set, adding, "I don't like fighting, and I find argumentative people the most annoying people on the planet... It's just unattractive."
Pharrell Williams and One Direction have teamed up with a host of other top music names to rework the Beach Boys' God Only Knows for a new BBC Music initiative. The track, which was broadcast simultaneously across the BBC network's radio and TV networks on Tuesday (07Oct14), will be released in aid of kids' charity Children in Need.
Sir Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Chris Martin, Sam Smith, Queen guitarist Brian May and Beach Boys star Brian Wilson also appear on the track.
Coldplay star Chris Martin has reportedly bought a new home across the street from his estranged wife Gwyneth Paltrow.
The rocker spent $6.75 million (GBP4.2 million) on his new pad, which is a stone's throw away from where his kids Apple and Moses live with their mom in Brentwood, Los Angeles. Martin and Paltrow split in March (14), but have remained close.
Reports suggest the Yellow singer even staged his wife's recent 42nd birthday party in the courtyard of his new digs.
Coldplay frontman Chris Martin swapped bands on Friday night (03Oct14) by performing with Kings Of Leon in California. The British rocker joined the Sex On Fire hitmakers for their show at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, surprising the crowd by taking to the stage to play piano and sing on the band's track Talihina Sky.
He also joined them for a rendition of their song Notion.
As Martin took a bow and left the stage, frontman Caleb Followill told the crowd, "I hope you enjoyed that. That cost us a lot of money."
Reports suggest Martin was joined backstage by his rumoured girlfriend, actress Jennifer Lawrence.

Celebrities seen arriving at her home in Los Angeles included her ex-husband Chris Martin, Kate Hudson, Nicole Richie and Toby Maguire.
