Sinead O'Connor's last-minute Womad set helped give festival bosses their first sell-out in seven years over the weekend (24-27Jul14). Organisers of England's annual world music gathering were left scrambling for a third headliner when Bobby Womack passed away last month (Jun14), and they were thrilled when O'Connor agreed to close the festival on Sunday night (27Jul14).
Her spot led to WOMAD's first sell-out since the event relocated to Wiltshire from Reading in 2007.
As a result, over 40,000 music fans attended the four-day festival, which also featured performances by Youssou N'Dour, Richard Thompson and Manu Dibango.
San Diego Comic-Con: the annual gathering of comic book nerds, blockbuster action movie fans and the slightly terrifying people who still watch Supernatural religiously. It's the biggest pop culture event of the year, a time when studios bring the biggest and most shriek-inducing stars together to unveil new projects and showcase the exciting things fans will eventually be camped out all night for. And even though not all of us are lucky enough to experience Comic-Con in person, that doesn't mean we don't deserve to get all the up-to-the-minute news, reports and surprises. Since we here at Hollywood.com don't want you to miss out on all the excitement happening in Hall H or the surprises being unveiled over the weekend, we're running down the biggest news to come out of San Diego during the convention to ensure you can stay on top of everything, whether you're stuck in the office or waiting in line for another sold out panel.
Guess Who's Set For a Bloody ReturnIt’s difficult to imagine anyone bouncing back from the tense bloodbath that capped off the second season of Hannibal, but Bryan Fuller doesn’t want you to worry about the state of your favorite characters, because several of them made it out of there – although not all of them made it out alive. Deadline reports that Raul Esparza’s Dr. Chilton did, however, and he will appear next season, presumably to get revenge for being shot in the face. Eddie Izzard and Kacey Rohl will also be making an appearance or two, but while he did say the former would only pop up in flashbacks, he declined to reveal whether Abigail is still in one piece. (The series also unveiled the second season blooper reel, which is exactly as delightful as you’d expect.)
Advanced Television Resurrection Now that Community’s sixth season is under way, it’s time to ask the most important question of all: When are the Greendale Seven coming back? At a panel Thursday night – appropriately titled “Communty: REBORN” – show runner Dan Harmon and the cast revealed that fans should see the Study Group back in action sometime after Christmas (via CinemaBlend). But don’t call into work to binge watch just yet, as Yahoo! will be released episodes on a weekly basis, just the same as if it were still on NBC. Still, you can expect some changes thanks to the change in platform, as Harmon has said that the writers are interested in testing the limitations of their new format. (Although we know how well Abed does with change…)
Teen Wolf Howls On… Teen Wolf might be in the middle of its fourth season at the moment, but the panel in Ballroom 20 only had eyes for the future, and with good reason: creator Jeff Davis revealed that the show already been renewed for a fifth season. According to EW, the upcoming season will also be the longest yet, with the episode count bumped up to 20 from season four’s 12. Of course, it will run in two parts and your favorite characters will probably be killed, but nobody said living in Beacon Hills was easy.
Incredible Interstellar After single-handedly revitalizing the Batman franchise and confusing people everywhere with Inception, Christopher Nolan finally made his Comic Con debut to talk about his upcoming film Interstellar, alongside Matthew McConaughey (via EW). Although they didn’t reveal much about the movie, they did showcase a new trailer that gives a better look at the mysteries it contains (which, unfortunately, the rest of us won’t get to see for a while), and Nolan revealed what inspired him to explore outer space. A little disappointingly, it was physics.
TMNT Needs Less Pizza, More Girl Power At least, according to Megan Fox. The actress has been making the rounds at Comic Con to promote the film, which hits theaters in mid-August, and in an interview with HitFix, she revealed that her April O’Neill will kick a little less butt than she had hoped: "A lot of girl power ended up on the cutting room floor, unfortunately. I had a really awesome scene where I was fighting The Foot Clan, but I think they were like, 'Why would a tiny journalist be able to kick so much ass?’” Silly producers, we writers have plenty of pent up anger. Let the girl fight!
Australian singer/actress Natalie Imbruglia is considering signing up for Internet dating as she is struggling to find a man.
The Torn hitmaker split from Silverchair frontman Daniel Johns in 2008 after five years of marriage, and has since been linked to stars including Friends actor David Schwimmer and Kings of Leon drummer Nathan Followill.
However, Imbruglia admits she has now been single for a long time and she is turning to online dating websites in a bid to find love.
She tells KIIS 1065's The Kyle and Jackie O Show, "(My love life is) shocking! I'm so single... I don't know (why)... I just want to meet (someone normal)... I'm starting to consider that I should go on (dating app) Tinder... Well where am I going to meet people?... My girlfriend in London has fallen madly in love on her third Tinder date and I'm incredibly jealous. And he's a really nice normal guy, a director... I've met him, he's really sweet and really normal... Everyone I know who is single is on Tinder in London."
When the presenters informed the star that most people who use the app are just looking for one-night stands, Imbruglia replies, "No! Is that what it is? Now I'm regretting bringing this up on the radio!... Ok you've turned me off now."

Cameron Diaz ranted at an Australian radio host and ended the interview early after the presenter made comments about her friend Drew Barrymore's past drug problems.
The Hollywood actress and her Sex Tape co-star Jason Segel were guests on Australian radio station KIIS 1065's The Kyle and Jackie O Show on Monday (21Jul14) to promote their new movie.
However, the interview took a turn for the worse when host Kyle Sandilands brought up Diaz's Charlie's Angels co-star Barrymore, and mentioned that she had suffered drug addiction in the past.
The comments prompted an angry outburst from Diaz, who ranted at the host, "I'm sure you've never been through it... I'm sure Kyle, you've never been through a drug phase or alcoholism (or) anything like that... pretty clean, always get it right."
After letting Segel answer the next question, Diaz cut back into the conversation to cut the interview short, concluding, "We're having to go now, sorry. They're wrapping us up."
After the interview concluded, Sandilands' co-host Jackie O scolded the star for upsetting their interviewee by bringing up Barrymore's issues and mentioning Diaz's rumoured boyfriend Benji Madden, saying, "Good one Kyle... You ruined that interview. The two things that would have got her off-side, you went there."
The Script frontman Danny O'donoghue filed a sexual assault complaint against a concertgoer who grabbed his genitals during a show. The Irish singer was performing in Brussels, Belgium last year (13) when he ventured into the audience during a song, and he was so disturbed by a fan grabbing his genitals that he filed a complaint against him.
He tells Britain's Sun on Sunday, "This guy went right under and properly grabbed by balls. So all I could think of doing was turning round and punching him in the face... I felt that my life was in danger.
"His friends started to come at me, it was a big deal... Luckily, the security got them all back... He started saying he was going to call police so I filed a complaint to say the bloke sexually assaulted me and I just reacted."
British pop star Lily Allen often plants fake information with her pals to find out if they are leaking stories about her life. The Smile singer was left furious when an invitation to her 2011 wedding emerged in public, giving away the date and location of the ceremony, and she vowed to track down the culprit.
Allen has revealed she now regularly tests members of her inner circle by giving away juicy titbits of fake information to see if it later turns up online.
She tells The Kyle and Jackie O Show on Australian radio station KIIS 1065, "Yeah many, many people (have leaked stories about me). When I have a suspicion, I just plant a story that's not true just with that one person and if it surfaces, then I know it's them and they are no longer in phone book."
Disgraced sportsman-turned-movie star O.J. Simpson was movie bosses' first choice to play the Terminator in director James Cameron's 1984 sci-fi blockbuster. Celebrating the 30th anniversary of the film as part of an Entertainment Weekly feature, executive Mike Medavoy admits he wanted Simpson to front the film, with Arnold Schwarzenegger as the movie's hero.
Schwarzenegger eventually landed the Terminator role and Michael Biehn was cast as hero Kyle Reese.
Medavoy recalls, "At the time, O.J. Simpson had one of those commercials for Hertz where he jumped over a counter and ran to get a rental car. It was all of that athletic stuff, which I thought the Terminator should have."
But Cameron was far from sold on the idea.
He says, "This was when everybody loved him... He (Simpson) was this likeable, goofy, kind of innocent guy... (but) I wasn't interested in an African-American man chasing around a white girl with a knife."
A decade after the film came out, Simpson's role as a likeable celebrity turned upside down after he was accused of killing his wife and her friend in a jealous rage. Simpson was acquitted of the crime.
He is currently serving time behind bars for his part in an armed raid on a memorabilia dealer's Las Vegas hotel room.
