Country star Reba Mcentire has taken a stand against global unrest by releasing a free song called Pray For Peace and starting a campaign on social media.
The singer has offered up the track for download on her website and encouraged fans to spread her message of peace through websites such as Instagram.com. McEntire has asked supporters to post a picture of themselves flashing a 'peace' sign along with the #PrayForPeace hashtag.

In a statement posted on her website, she writes, "I feel this song is a gift from God. I have never worked on a song as long as this one. It went from a bass drum, fiddle and singers to guest artist singing with me, adding more instruments and even a choir and a bagpipe! It's an act of perseverance, prayer, hope, fellowship and mostly love."
The singer admits she is thrilled by the response to the campaign, but had no idea it would coincide with the headline-grabbing conflict in Israel and the tensions in eastern Europe after pro-Russian rebels in the Ukraine shot down a Malaysia Airlines passenger jet last week (ends18Jul14).
She tells People.com, "In a way, I'm totally amazed at the response. And in another way, I'm not because I knew this was a message that people would receive and share... It's very timely. We had no way of knowing what would be happening in the world when we decided to release the video this week. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all the victims and families of the Malaysian Airlines flight as we continue to pray for peace."

Keith Urban performed at a shopping mall in Sydney, Australia on Thursday (10Jul14) in hologram form. The country star has been recreated in digital format with the same technology used for a hologram of Michael Jackson on stage at the Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas in May (14), five years after the King of Pop's death.
Urban's hologram appeared at Sydney's Pitt Street Mall as part of a promotion with a local bank, and fans were able to pick up instruments and play along to their hero's song Somewhere In My Car.
Country superstar Keith Urban gave his wife Nicole Kidman the ultimate wedding anniversary present at a gig on Wednesday (25Jun14) when he dedicated a song he wrote about their relationship to the actress.
The You'll Think of Me hitmaker was onstage in Melbourne, Australia when he turned his attention to his wife of eight years, who was in the audience. After a fan shouted out "Happy anniversary!", Urban responded, "It is tonight. My wife and I are celebrating eight years of marriage tonight. And she's here tonight."
He then recalled a moment before their wedding, which inspired a track titled Once in a Lifetime. Urban said, "This is a true story... Nic and I had just gotten engaged in September of 2005. And we were planning our wedding, which was going to take place here in Australia, in June. "A couple months or so before our wedding, we were in our hotel and we were talking about the future and I could tell that Nic was getting very nervous about the thought of marrying me. It's a big thing you know. It's a big thing to get married. It takes an enormous amount of trust and a leap of faith."
The singer continued to reassure Kidman, who was previously married to Tom Cruise, that he was going to be "her man, forever", hoping there was a way to show her that he would never leave her side.
The day after their conversation, Urban hit the music studio and wrote Once in a Lifetime, which he dusted off for fans - and Kidman - on Wednesday.
He said, "This is called Once in a Lifetime. Eight years, baby girl, this is for you tonight my love; I love you so much."

During a network event in Las Vegas, he said "Jennifer, Keith, Harry and Ryan are the very best in the business at what they do, and I'm thrilled that they are returning to American Idol for another season.
"Each brings unique qualities and expertise to the team, but they all share the same passion for helping undiscovered singers achieve the American dream."

Nicole Kidman and her country star husband Keith Urban gave an impromptu performance while visiting a children's hospital in their native Australia on Friday (13Jun14). The couple was greeting patients and staff at the Monash Children's Hospital in Melbourne when the Grammy winner broke out his guitar and began to sing classic hymn Amazing Grace.
In a video posted on YouTube, Urban and Kidman stood in the middle of a group of patients, their families and staff members while he strummed on the guitar and Kidman sang along with the lyrics.
The last time the superstar couple performed in public together was at the 2010 G'Day USA gala in Los Angeles, where they sang they Australian rock band Men At Work's 1981 hit Down Under.
Following the surprise performance, Kidman jetted to China, where she was honoured with an outstanding contribution award at the Shanghai International Film Festival on Saturday (14Jun14).
Bon Jovi star Richie Sambora added some rock 'n' roll to the 2014 CMA Music Fest by performing with the Zac Brown Band on Sunday night (08Jun14). The group headlined the final night of the country music event at the LP Field stadium in Nashville, Tennessee, following performances from the genre's biggest stars, including Tim McGraw, Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert, Keith Urban, Lady Antebellum and Brad Paisley, across the four-day festival.
Zac Brown's group gave the audience a night to remember by bringing out special guest Sambora during the set to perform Bon Jovi's huge hit Wanted Dead Or Alive.
The guitarist said after the show, "What a blast playing with my brother Zac Brown. Nashville has always welcomed me with open arms, and it was incredible to jump on stage and feel the energy of that amazing crowd."
Singer Keith Urban discovered he had just won Male Vocalist of the Year at the 2006 Country Music Association Awards while he was in rehab battling addictions to drugs and alcohol. The country star checked in for treatment after his wife Nicole Kidman and some close friends staged an intervention - and while in rehab he tasted the highs and lows of life on the same evening.
He tells Rolling Stone magazine, "I had gone to bed and I remember a guy coming in and saying, 'You just won something. Male vocalist? CMAs or something?' And I was like, 'Really?'
"He said, 'Yeah, off to bed', and shut the door. I just lay there in the dark, going, 'How weird is this?'"
Country star Keith Urban has revealed his actress wife Nicole Kidman staged an intervention alongside his closest friends when she realised she was losing her husband to addiction. In a candid new interview, the Australian singer tells Rolling Stone magazine he entered rehab shortly after he wed Kidman in 2006 to battle drug and alcohol issues after his wife told him it was time to seek help.
He says, "I didn’t give a s**t about anything except turning a corner in my life and doing whatever it took for that.
"I was very, very blessed to have Nic call an intervention on me. I had a tight group of friends around me for the intervention. And off I went."
Heaping praise on the Oscar winner, Urban adds, "I have a wife who is just from another planet. She is so celestial. I say that I was born into her. That is the best way I can describe how I feel about her and us.
"There’s a fearlessness about Nic. It’s funny, it’s not a fearlessness, it’s a willingness to face it anyway... I think she’s helped me shed some of my limitations. That’s very liberating creatively."
And Urban admits he's often at a loss for words when he watches his wife acting - because he could never do what she does: "I love that she wants to bring them (characters) to life and present a new way to look at them. The reason I could never act is I’m terrified of looking stupid or failing in some way and it’s something I’m really trying to work through.
"She doesn’t have that sense of having to please people as much as just be a true artist. I love that about her.
"She doesn’t mind failing at stuff to get to the place where it works. I don’t even know if she can do anything and feel silly or awkward. She’s not wired that way."
