"Keith (Urban) always says, 'We're lucky we met late in life'. The sadness of that is we can't have six kids together, but the greatness of that is (we are done) with all the other stuff, so now we are totally present for this. That's a great thing to hear from a man." Actress Nicole Kidman insists she has got the perfect marriage with country star Keith Urban after spending a decade as Tom Cruise's wife.

Just three weeks in production, the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge has raked in more than $15 million — this puts it ahead of the latest YA release The Giver as the eighth highest grossing property this month. But trouncing that Jeff Bridges/Brenton Thwaites travesty by nearly $3 million is only the second most noble of the Ice Bucket Challenge’s efforts. The movement is allotting nigh unparalleled funds toward the study of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, an illness known best as Lou Gehrig’s Disease.
The condition observes the weakening of the muscles in accordance with a degeneration of a specific portion of the spinal cord. As a result of ALS, those afflicted find difficulty speaking, swallowing, breathing, and moving altogether.
Though discovered in the 19th century and brought to infamy in the late 1930s in accordance with the suffering of beloved New York Yankee Lou Gehrig, ALS remains the most common motor neuron disease actively plaguing men and women today. While perhaps only a small measure in the fight against the illness, the Ice Bucket Challenge is allowing for tremendous progress in the collection of funds devoted to the defeat of such a longstanding travesty.
As is inevitable with any cause célèbre or public movement, we have witnesses no small share of backlash against the Challenge; critics decry the endeavor as a bandwagon trend and a waste of time that offers no real benefit to the cause in question. As far as the latter goes, the $15 million and counting — a sum made possible thanks in large part to the spirited, sportsmanly brand with which the Ice Bucket Challenge was designed — would beg to differ. Nevertheless, we find those with a sour taste for the charitable phenomenon. Not to mention those who simply don’t want to pour a bunch of cold water over their heads. But if you find yourself a culprit of this mindset, maybe take a look at the pedigree of the company you’d be joining were you to hop aboard for this particularly frigid mitzvah.
So what pop culture accomplishments can be attributed to the community of water-logged philanthropists?

Country star Keith Urban has broken his silence after his recent concert in Massachusetts resulted in dozens of hospitalised fans and an arrest for an alleged rape.
The You'll Think of Me hitmaker brought his Raise 'Em Up Tour to the Xfinity Center in Mansfield on Saturday (26Jul14), but the gig was marred when 46 fans were treated for "alcohol-related" illnesses. More than 20 were sent to local hospitals for further treatment, and an additional 50 revellers were arrested and taken into custody for unspecified reasons.
Also this week (begs28Jul14), an 18-year-old man was arrested and charged with sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl during the concert.
Now Urban has spoken out about the incidents, sending his sympathies to all those involved. He wrote on his website, "My team and I were horrified to learn of the events reported in Boston this past weekend and our hearts and prayers go out to all those affected. This type of behavior stands in stark contrast to the spirit of our shows."
Urban's tour continues throughout the U.S. until mid-September (14).
A Massachusetts man has been arrested after allegedly raping a 17-year-old girl at a Keith Urban concert over the weekend (26-27Jul14).
The You'll Think of Me hitmaker brought his Raise 'Em Up Tour to the Xfinity Center in Mansfield, and during the show, 18-year-old Sean Murphy allegedly sexually assaulted an unnamed girl on the lawn area of the venue, while fellow concert-goers looked on and took videos with their cell phones, according to The Sun Chronicle.
An off-duty police officer noticed the crowd gathering around the couple, and Murphy was taken into custody shortly after.
According to police, both Murphy and the girl were consuming alcohol during the concert. Murphy has pleaded not guilty the the charge of rape and claims the sex was consensual.

In addition, 50 concert-goers were arrested and taken into custody for unspecified reasons.

Country star Reba Mcentire has taken a stand against global unrest by releasing a free song called Pray For Peace and starting a campaign on social media.
The singer has offered up the track for download on her website and encouraged fans to spread her message of peace through websites such as Instagram.com. McEntire has asked supporters to post a picture of themselves flashing a 'peace' sign along with the #PrayForPeace hashtag.
Post by Reba McEntire.
In a statement posted on her website, she writes, "I feel this song is a gift from God. I have never worked on a song as long as this one. It went from a bass drum, fiddle and singers to guest artist singing with me, adding more instruments and even a choir and a bagpipe! It's an act of perseverance, prayer, hope, fellowship and mostly love."
The singer admits she is thrilled by the response to the campaign, but had no idea it would coincide with the headline-grabbing conflict in Israel and the tensions in eastern Europe after pro-Russian rebels in the Ukraine shot down a Malaysia Airlines passenger jet last week (ends18Jul14).
She tells People.com, "In a way, I'm totally amazed at the response. And in another way, I'm not because I knew this was a message that people would receive and share... It's very timely. We had no way of knowing what would be happening in the world when we decided to release the video this week. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all the victims and families of the Malaysian Airlines flight as we continue to pray for peace."
