A tallish (5'7") blonde leading lady of the 1920s, Helene Chadwick had taken her professional name from the town in upstate New York where she was born. In films from 1917 after a brief stint on the legitimate stage, Sam Goldwyn cast her as the heroine in such melodramas as Heartsease (1919) and The Cup of Fury (1920) and she also filmed for Paramount and Fox. She earned some notoriety for marrying and divorcing upcoming director William Wellman but although the trade-paper Harrison's Reports applauded her "fine acting" in an early talkie, Father and Son (1929), Chadwick was relegated to bits and walk-ons thereafter. Her early death was ascribed to injuries from a fall.
