French actor Gerard Depardieu shocked the audience at a First World War commemoration ceremony in Belgium on Sunday (30Nov14) by cursing and slurring while reading a tribute. The Green Card star was due to recite poetry at the event in Brussels, but his performance descended into a series of expletives as the seemingly inebriated actor began talking about politics.
An audience member tells Belgian news website La Capitale, "(He) was visibly drunk to say the least... he started off by finding it difficult to find words of welcome... Then, he read the same sentence once, twice, sometimes three times.
"Then he left the text that he was reading to digress on to the subject of politics in Belgium. A little later, he asked what page he was on..."
Video footage posted online shows Depardieu mumbling incoherently about Europe and politics before cursing loudly in French.
Earlier this year (14), the actor admitted he drinks up to 14 bottles of wine a day. He moved to Belgium in 2012 to escape high French taxes.
Former Village People star Victor Willis has recorded a U.S. response to Band Aid's Ebola relief charity single. The Y.M.C.A. hitmaker has recorded Save The People (Save The World) with his wife Karen and he insists his song is a more uplifting tune than Bob Geldof and Midge Ure's reworked Band Aid anthem Do They Know It's Christmas?
He tells WENN, "I decided to write a song and produce a music video dedicated to the Ebola crisis.
"It is clearly calling on the public for assistance. However, at the same time, it is not in your face."
Proceeds from the sales of the iTunes release will benefit charities helping volunteers fight the Ebola crisis in West Africa and beyond.
The track will be available to download on 8 December (14) with a CD release planned for 5 January (15).
Band Aid's new Ebola relief single has already topped the charts in Europe following its release last month (Nov13). The song features the talents of One Direction, Sinead O'Connor, Rita Ora and Ed Sheeran, among others.
Demi Lovato has dismissed reports suggesting she's selling her Los Angeles-area home, insisting the pad isn't hers to put on the market. The singer has just returned home from dates in Europe, with dreams of throwing a big Christmas party for family members and friends, and she took to Twitter.com on Monday (01Dec14) to clarify stories about a house sale.
Lovato wrote, "1. I RENTED the house when I was 15 for 2 years 2. Renting is NOT owning 3. Stop trying to start a fire where there is none."
Bloggers and tabloid gossip writers suggested she was moving out of the Toluca Lake home after falling out with ex-pal Miley Cyrus, who lives nearby.
Actress Mia Maestro has dropped out of a long-delayed new Evita movie due to scheduling conflicts. The actress was slated to play Eva Peron, the famous First Lady of her native Argentina, and was scheduled to begin shooting the project earlier this year (14), but the movie's start date kept getting pushed back, and now director Pablo Aguero is planning to roll cameras in January (15).
But, since Maestro will be filming the second season of Guillermo del Toro's TV series The Strain in Toronto, Canada until May (15), she has been forced to drop out of the project.
This new version of Evita chronicles the bizarre 25-year journey Peron's embalmed corpse took around Europe until she was laid to rest in Argentina.
The film also stars Mexican actor Gael Garcia Bernal, Denis Lavant, Daniel Fanego, and Nahuel P. Biscayart, as well as Spanish star Imanol Arias, who will play the doctor who embalmed Peron's body.
Aguero has yet to announce a replacement for Maestro.
U.S rockers Fear Factory have postponed their 2015 European tour just hours after it was announced. The group planned to play gigs across in the U.K., Ireland and other parts of Europe across March and April (15) but opted out to give themselves time to complete their ninth studio album.
A statement posted on the band's website reads, "To our fans in Europe, The U.K., and Ireland; We regretfully MUST postpone the tour until Summer 2015 in order to complete our forthcoming, and ninth, studio album. This is an important album for us, so we wish to complete it properly so that we release a great album for our fans. We will see you soon!"
Legendary film composer Ennio Morricone has scrapped his upcoming European tour as doctors have urged him to take more time off following spinal surgery earlier this year (14). The Italian musician underwent an operation to repair a slipped disc and had to axe both the original and rescheduled U.S. tour dates because he had not fully recovered.
The 86 year old was expected to perform around Europe in December (14) but doctors have advised him to continue resting, so some of the dates have been postponed until February and March next year (15).
He says, "It is with great joy that I can finally say that I have truly, fully recovered. I am most grateful for the loyalty that my audiences around Europe have shown. It was with great sadness that I have had to cancel and reschedule so many concerts during the past year. I am happy to announce though that nearly all of my concerts that were planned for this December will be rescheduled into my tour dates in February and March."
The trek will now begin on 1 February (15) in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
British rockers The Horrors have axed all their upcoming European tour dates. The band was due to play in Paris, France on Thursday night (20Nov14), but they called off the show at the Cabaret Sauvage venue and informed fans the rest of the dates have also been axed.
A message from the band, posted on the Cabaret Sauvage website, reads, "We are sorry to announce that we will be cancelling our European tour dates this winter. It has not been an easy decision to make and we know this will upset people who have already purchased tickets. We hope you all understand that letting our fans down is the last thing we want but returning to the studio is what we feel we need to do right now. We will be back in 2015 and look forward to seeing you all then."
The news comes just months after the group cancelled a tour of the U.S. and Europe back in July (14). They blamed the previous cancellations on "circumstances beyond our control".
Cult British band Ride are reuniting for a tour, 18 years after they split. The Leave Them All Behind hitmakers broke up in 1996 after eight years together, and hopes of a reunion were never high because guitarist Andy Bell went on to join Oasis and then stuck with singer Liam Gallagher in his follow-up band Beady Eye.
However, the door to a Ride comeback was opened last month (Oct14) with the shock announcement that Beady Eye had split, and now Bell and his bandmates Mark Gardener, Laurence Colbert and Steve Queralt have announced a series of concerts next year (15).
Ride will perform three gigs in the U.K. in May (15) before heading to mainland Europe for shows in France, Spain and the Netherlands.
They will also play one-off concerts in New York and Toronto in June (15), before returning to Britain to round out the tour with a show at London's Field Day festival.
Heavy rockers Arch Enemy have parted ways with guitarist Nick Cordle. He has been replaced by former Nevermore rocker Jeff Loomis, who will make his live debut with the band in Europe at the end on the month (Nov14).
Loomis says, "I'm very excited to be playing with Arch Enemy. (Band guitarist) Michael Amott and I have stayed in contact over the years since we toured together when I was playing in Nevermore and not only do I admire his guitar playing and songwriting, but I also consider him a close friend. To be able to share the stage with Michael, Sharlee, Daniel and Alissa is something I'm really looking forward to."
Cordle insists there's no bad blood between himself and his former bandmates, adding, "I wish them well for the future."
And Amott states, "We all wish Nick the very best in his new endeavours and we are sure that you will hear much more from him... The prospect of working with Jeff Loomis moving forward is truly awesome. Jeff Loomis is one of the best guitar players in the metal world, in my opinion, as well as being a longtime friend. I look forward to tearing it up on stages around the world together."
Demi Lovato appears to have confirmed she is dating actor Wilmer Valderrama by posting a sweet photo of the two stars sharing an intimate moment on Twitter.com.
The singer took to social media on Monday (17Nov14) during her ongoing tour of Europe and got a little sentimental as she thought about her boyfriend back in America.
She shared a photo of the actor kissing her on the cheek and wrote, "I never post personal pictures like this but f**k... He is perfect. I miss my @WValderrama."
The couple has been more than just friends for months, according to reports, but neither Lovato nor Valderrama have confirmed they are dating.
