Pop superstar Miley Cyrus has debunked false Internet rumours about her death by posting an Instagram.com photo of herself posing topless in a desert. An advertising scam on Facebook over the weekend (19-20Jul14) encouraged users to click on a headline which read, "(SHOCKING) Miley Cyrus Found Dead in Her Los Angeles Home! Country singer Miley Cyrus found overdosed this afternoon in her Los Angeles home."
Once clicked, the post directed readers to a hoax site about completing surveys for money.
A number of Cyrus' fans fell for the fake rumours, which were given weight by the fact the singer had not reached out to her Twitter.com followers since Friday (18Jul14).
However, the Wrecking Ball hitmaker put the unfounded claims to rest on Monday (21Jul14), when she shared a series of photos on Instagram, including a snap of herself topless, with her back to the camera, wearing just a pair of denim shorts, flashing two peace signs with her raised hands.
Latin superstar Shakira has been become the first person on Facebook.com to rack up 100 million 'likes' on her profile page. The Hips Don't Lie hitmaker hit the social networking milestone on Thursday (17Jul14), four days after she dazzled fans by performing at the soccer World Cup final in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Only Facebook's own brand page and the profile for its mobile app have scored more 'likes'.
Shakira, who toppled Rihanna as the queen of Facebook in March (14) - with 86.8 million followers, celebrated the new achievement by releasing a statement which reads: "I am honored and humbled about reaching this milestone, because it's one that's purely about connecting with my fans from all parts of the globe.
"Social media and specifically Facebook has helped myself and other artists bridge the gap between the stage and the audience."
Shakira, who is rumoured to be pregnant with her second child, also boasts one of the top 10 most liked Facebook photos in the site's history - a snap of herself smiling as she holds her son Milan on the field at the World Cup's big game last Sunday (13Jul14) has been 'liked' by more than 3.5 million devotees.
A representative for Zayn Malik has dismissed rumours the One Direction singer has married his fiancee Perrie Edwards in secret. Fans of the boyband were sent into a frenzy this week (beg14Jul14) when the heartthrob posted a picture on his Instagram.com page which showed him wearing a ring on his wedding finger.
The snap sparked speculation the pair had shunned a high-profile wedding and married in secret, but a representative for Malik now insists the star is simply wearing an engagement ring.
The spokesperson says, "Perrie and Zayn are not married. The picture shows his engagement ring."
Whitney Houston's daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown has assured fans that a photo of herself getting high, which was posted online, is a hoax. Earlier this week (beg14Jul14), the snap of Brown smoking what appeared to be a bong was shared on Instagram.com, but the reality TV star insists reports she uploaded it are not true.
The picture was captioned: "This picture may be inappropriate but I want to make a connection with you all. Don't worry this picture isn't recent just hear me out. Do you know what I feel? I feel strange I can't feel any pain anymore. I don't take any drugs as of recently. Things just happened. But then there is some situation that force me to do things and the impact I'll feel pain. I did and I do. I was hurt."
The Instagram account has since been deleted and now Brown states, "I've never posted any photo of me doing anything! This is someone trying to tarnish and make a horrible name for MYSELF. People are insane."

Of all the actresses in Hollywood, nobody inspires the kind of anger, vitriol, and mean tweets that Kristen Stewart and Anne Hathaway recieve every time they release a film, attend a premiere, appear on a talk show, or just leave the house. We get it; who wouldn’t start to snap after having to endure intense arguments about the merits of Jacob versus Edward, or being forced to listen to that dreadful Oscar speech over and over again for months on end? By now, just the sight of their faces is enough to send some people into a rage spiral... which is why Jenny Lewis’ new music video might be just what they need to finally embrace Stewart and Hathaway.
For her song “Just One of the Guys,” Lewis recruited the former Bella Swan and Mia Thermopolis, along with indie darling Brie Larson (who everybody already likes) to play some backup guitar and portray some obnoxious members of the opposite sex. Wait, wait, hear us out, because the final product makes Stewart and Hathaway seem rather endearing, actually. The girls playing guitar and keytar behind Lewis are the starlets as we’re used to seeing them: Stewart is serious and confrontational and Hathaway makes a series of overly-dramatic faces at the camera. But then, they put on some tracksuits and stick-on mustaches and something magical happens.
They become absolutely ridiculous. Stewart, rocking a vintage-Bieber bowl cut, struts around the stage, gesturing come-ons to the camera and laughing at herself – see? It is possible! – and Hathaway, writhing around on the floor, pretending to breakdance is the kind of self-mocking we love to see from celebrities. Look at that dramatic, single tear. Does it feel rehearsed? Of course. Is it dumb and kind of hilarious? Definitely. If this was Jennifer Lawrence or Emma Stone, we’d be all over it. We’d make it this year’s Halloween costume.
And hey, they’re hanging out with Larson and Lewis, so they must be kind of cool, right? Do you think either of those champs would hang out with anyone who wasn’t secretly awesome? Even if they weren’t before the video shoot, they certainly are now. The Larson/Lewis brand of cool is the kind that transfers through association. If we can put our faith in their songwriting abilities or choice of film projects, surely we can also put our faith in their choice of co-stars.
Come on, Hathaway is playing the keytar! Do you really think anyone who takes themselves too seriously would actually play the keytar? It’s the official instrument of ‘80s tribute bands and precocious teenagers everywhere. Even the tuba is a cooler instrument. Don’t make Anne Hathaway play the tuba for your affections, America. She’s atoned enough. Allow Lewis’ catchy song to help mend this rift between you, Stewart and Hathaway. They just want to entertain you, and that’s exactly what they’re doing in this video. Besides, once we put these differences behind us, we can move on to more important things, like the fact that Larson looks like a long lost Tenenbaum in drag.
Actress Kaley Cuoco shocked her tennis player husband Ryan Sweeting by organising a huge surprise party for his 27th birthday. Steven Spielberg has found himself at the centre of a Facebook.com prank after one user shared a snap of the director sitting next to a 'dead' dinosaur on the set of Jurassic Park and jokingly shamed him for hunting down the animal.
Jay Branscomb uploaded the image of the filmmaker with a mechanical Triceratops, taken on the set of the 1993 blockbuster, last week (ends13Jul14), and sarcastically wrote in the caption, "Disgraceful photo of recreational hunter happily posing next to a Triceratops he just slaughtered. Please share so the world can name and shame this despicable man."
The snapshot was reposted more than 33,000 times, and attracted some harsh criticism for Spielberg for apparently killing an innocent animal, despite the fact dinosaurs became extinct 66 million years ago.
Some of the comments were clearly made in jest, including one which read, "I did not know that Steven Spielberg is a dinosaur hunter. I am not only outraged, but disgusted!!", but others seemed to be legitimately furious at the director.
One misinformed user raged, "He's a disgusting inhumane p**ck. I'd love to see these hunters be stopped. I think zoos are the best way to keep these innocent animals safe... a**holes like this piece of s**t are going into these beautiful animals' homes... and killing them. It's no different to someone coming into your home and murdering you... I'm not watching any of your movies again ANIMAL KILLER."
Spielberg has yet to comment on the controversy.
Actor Liev Schreiber suffered a broken nose twice within a few months earlier this year (14). The first incident occurred when the X-Men Origins: Wolverine star visited a gym in Montreal, Canada, where he stepped into the ring with a Ukrainian fighter for a sparring session.
He says, "It was this 24-year-old... Ukrainian kid named Nevo who broke my nose. It was awful. I (was holding my own) for the first two rounds... All these kids were coming up to the ring because they recognised me as Sabretooth from the X-Men movies, (it) totally inspired me to take on Nevo...
"I felt like I got his timing down and it turned out he was timing me and I walked into a straight right hand and I felt my nose crack and my neck snap... and for 40 more seconds I kept fighting. After that round I said, 'That was really great. I don't think I'm going to do anymore.'"
Schreiber returned to Los Angeles after the Canadian trip and while filming his TV series, Ray Donovan, the actor broke his nose again.
He continues, "We were shooting in this incredibly expensive glass house... and it was a long day and I was tired. I got up from my chair and I was walking with my head down and the next thing I knew, I (walked into a wall). I just (saw) blood exploding."
