Mindy Kaling is officially celebrating her 35th birthday in style — the day's not even over yet, and she's already Instagram'd tons of pics of her birthday haul. Let's take a look at her newfound swag:
Here's a pic of her showing off her new bling — a fun ring and earrings courtesy of The Mindy Project staff writer Tracey Wigfield (it would seem that most of TMP's writers are in Las Vegas right now, and they've been getting both work and play in, especially where Mindy's birthday is involved).
Her assistant gifted her this delightful "stay in and watch TV" kit. Yum.
Then, she got this adorable (albeit creepy) clutch from Fox — she jokes, "Thank you Rupert Murdoch, who I'm sure chose this personally."
Another gift from one of her fellow TMP writers, Jeremy Bronson. Customed-designed chartreuse Nikes, a windbreaker that practically glows in the dark, and a rainbow sock monkey? Yes, please!
We're glad you're celebrating in style, Mindy!
Revered moviemaker David Cronenberg has revealed he was offered the chance to direct one of the new Star Wars films but turned Disney executives down.
The Naked Lunch and Eastern Promises director tells The Hollywood Reporter he received a phone call from film bosses shortly after J.J. Abrams was named as the man behind Episode VII, asking him if he'd be interested in taking the reins of a future installment.
He recalls, "Instead of saying, 'Oh my God, yes!' I said, 'Well, you know, I don't really do other people's material'. I don't know how far it would have gone but it ended there."
Cronenberg tells the publication he also passed on the Total Recall remake, starring Colin Farrell and Kate Beckinsale, adding, "It's not in my nervous system to do something like that."
Len Wiseman took on the Total Recall project, while Rian Johnson is reportedly in talks to direct the next two Star Wars films in the franchise.
Veteran British crooner Sir Cliff Richard is planning a concert spectacular to mark his 75th birthday next year (15). The Living Doll hitmaker will mark the milestone on 14 October, 2015, and he wants to celebrate it with fans in England.
The star admits planning is still in the early stages, but he hopes to put on a special event in his home country to mark his big day.
He tells U.K, TV show Good Morning Britain, "We're already planning something for Britain... but I don't even know what we would do. It's my big 75th birthday in 2015 and I would like to celebrate it in England with fans... I've got to think of something to compete with the show (tour) I've just done and the way to do it, of course. But yes, I will be appearing in England but I don't have any dates yet."
Actor Eric Dane proposed to his wife Rebecca Gayheart on a whim after she dared him to make her his wife. The Grey's Anatomy star reveals he was terrified to pop the question to Gayheart, but insists it was the best decision he made because the impulsive gesture led to a wedding that night.
He explains, "We were having dinner at a restaurant and she asked me if I ever did anything impulsive and I said, 'Like what? Ask someone to marry me?' and she said, 'Yeah, something like that,' and I said, 'Do you want to marry me...?'
"I was terrified and she said, 'Yes,' I said, 'Cheque,' we got the cheque, jumped in my car, we got the last flight out of Los Angeles to Las Vegas. We've been happily married ever since and we have two beautiful little girls."
The couple eloped in 2004. The stars are parents to daughters Billie, four, and Georgia, two.
The members of Destiny'S Child have reunited for Michelle Williams' new video. Williams recorded new track Say Yes! with Beyonce and Kelly Rowland last month (May14), and now the trio has regrouped for the accompanying promo.
At first it appears the threesome shot their scenes separately, but the former bandmates' reunion comes together as the ladies dance with one another at a party.
Williams says, "We had so much fun. Sometimes the director or production assistants had to say, like, 'OK, girls, bring it back home. Bring it back together'. When we were together, we go back to how we were when we were younger, just always laughing and talking about things. It's been a great moment."
The track will appear on Williams' upcoming third solo album, Journey to Freedom.
The new trailer for The Expendables 3 shows off an unsurprising abundance of explosions, gunfire, and sexagenarians saying things like "Lock and load." A bit more surprising in its ubiquity, however, is the action hero's old friend the helicopter. Yes, any film bording the lethal dose of adrenaline is bound to feature a chopper or two, but the two-and-a-half minute preview for Sylvester Stallone's upcoming threequel shows off an irrational number whirlybirds. And yeah, those are the only slang words for "helicopter" I know, so we're going to have to get creative now.
We catch glimpse the first of many propellerinos swooping down over an enemy train to rescue the apparently nonexpendable Wesley Snipes from incarceration. After rendering the entire locomotive to ruins (hopefully those were Nazis or something and not, you know, just military men doing their job apprehending criminals), we move onto a slew of other hummingbots prime for adventure: one drops off a maniacal Mel Gibson. One launches explosive at the side of a dock. One hovers over the speeding car of Natalie Burn. And one hovers just out of reach of what we can only assume is a ketamine-engendered Sylvester Stallone. And that's not even counting the jets (of both the plane and Li variety) sprinkled throughout the trailer.
If the trailer offers up this many circle-spin-bumble-droids (too creative?), we can only imagine what the 103-minute runtime has in store.

Singer Lorde's parents have become engaged after 30 years together. The hitmaker took to Twitter.com on Tuesday (17Jun14) to reveal her dad Vic O'Connor popped the question to her mum Sonja Yelich juring a trip to Niagara Falls.
She writes, "BEST DAY - went to niagara falls - my dad proposed to my mum after almost 30 years together."
And, poking fun at the opening line of her Royals hit, in which the teenager sings "I've never seen a diamond in the flesh", she adds, "inevitable response yes i know i have seen a diamond now".
Kendall Jenner makes a great point about the show-stopping Fausto Puglisi dress she wore to the 2014 Much Music Video Awards: " why do one slit when you can do TWO!? #MMVAs"
Indeed, Kendall. Indeed:
That's a whole lot of pelvic bone, though it needs to be said that the dress is stunning. Is this gown a little too sexy for young Kendall?

It's easy to get caught up in the world of Orange is the New Black. The grittiness and emotional rawness of the show can lead you to believe that you are seeing prison life as it really is. Luckily, real former prisoners have spoken up about the show. Though there's a lot OITNB gets right about life behind bars, there's definitely some deviation from reality. Here are some of the real prisoners' best quotes, though we also recommend reading their full stories.
On racism:"The show is racist. Yes, I said it. That’s because the entire prison apparatus is racist, thus any show based on it, rooted in it, must also be racist." – Bruce Reilly for RIfuture.org
On ingenuity: "From Sophia’s stylish silver shower shoes made from duct tape and Morello’s Kool-Aid as mascara/lip gloss to the hooch at Tricia’s Irish wake, prisoners learn to make do with less. This echoes my experience. I saw inmates cut hair with toenail clippers (no pimped-out full-service salons like Sophia’s!), cook grilled cheese with a laundry room iron, and fashion free weights from massive boulders in laundry bags and tied around a bar." – Jeff Smith in Buzzfeed
On suffering: "[On the show] you don't see someone sitting in the corner crying, and someone sitting at the other end of the table crying." – Diana Delgado in the Chicago Tribune
On segregation: “If you’re a drug offender, you hang out with drug offenders. If you’re in for a money crime, people think you’re intelligent. Then you have the sex offenders that you really don’t mess with at all.” – Michelle Vaughn in New York Magazine
"In Orange, the races eat together, which was exceptionally rare at the Kentucky prison where I spent 2010. I did it my first week when I was the only white guy in my cell block and didn’t know any other whites; an Aryan Brotherhood member pulled me aside later that day and advised me not to do so again." – Jeff Smith
On showering: "The shower itself is disgusting. There was different types of molds and funguses growing on the shower — out and around the shower." – Jason Porter, a former inmate at the prison where some of Orange is the New Black is shot
On visits: “Your hair looks like a mess, and you’re wearing that awful gray potato sack, and then you wait so long just for a one-hour visit.” – Laura in New York Magazine
Angelina Jolie's London summit to end rape in war zones has won the support of stars including Thandie Newton, Kathleen Turner, model Cara Delevingne, and even Catholic leader Pope Francis.
The Hollywood actress launched the Global Summit to End Sexual Violence in Conflict in the British capital on Tuesday (10Jun14) and the event's slogan #timetoact has sparked a social networking frenzy. The phrase has become a trending topic on Twitter.com as more and more stars post pictures of themselves holding a sign bearing the words.
Newton, Turner and Delevingne have all joined in, with the model backing Jolie in a tweet, writing, "Yes Angie! #timetoact #stoptorture". Others who have backed the drive include Harry Potter actress Bonnie Wright, fashion designers Stella McCartney and Vivienne Westwood, singers Paloma Faith, Mollie King and Eliza Doolittle, and Pope Francis.
The head of the Catholic Church writes on Twitter, "Let us pray for all victims of sexual violence in conflict, and those working to end this crime. #TimeToAct."
