Angelina Jolie's London summit to end rape in war zones has won the support of stars including Thandie Newton, Kathleen Turner, model Cara Delevingne, and even Catholic leader Pope Francis.
The Hollywood actress launched the Global Summit to End Sexual Violence in Conflict in the British capital on Tuesday (10Jun14) and the event's slogan #timetoact has sparked a social networking frenzy. The phrase has become a trending topic on Twitter.com as more and more stars post pictures of themselves holding a sign bearing the words.
Newton, Turner and Delevingne have all joined in, with the model backing Jolie in a tweet, writing, "Yes Angie! #timetoact #stoptorture". Others who have backed the drive include Harry Potter actress Bonnie Wright, fashion designers Stella McCartney and Vivienne Westwood, singers Paloma Faith, Mollie King and Eliza Doolittle, and Pope Francis.
The head of the Catholic Church writes on Twitter, "Let us pray for all victims of sexual violence in conflict, and those working to end this crime. #TimeToAct."
Actress Angelina Jolie is still hoping her long-delayed Cleopatra film will hit the big screen. Filmmaker James Cameron first revealed he was interested in developing a 3D movie about the Egyptian queen in 2010 and he wanted the Salt star to take on the role.
Following the news of Cameron's involvement, it was reported David Fincher was in talks to direct the film, but he reportedly declined to take on the project in 2012.
Life of Pi director Ang Lee was also added to the list of potential filmmakers, but he still hasn't signed on.
While Jolie admits the process has been difficult, she feels the film can still come together.
She tells People magazine, "I've been working on (it) forever. It's the hardest one to get done, so it's either going to be one of those that you just walk away and say, 'It was too hard', or it comes together beautifully and you really take it on."
Actress/singer Kristin Chenoweth is set to follow in Angelina Jolie's footsteps by taking on the role of fairytale villain Maleficent in an upcoming TV movie. The Glee star has been cast to play the evil queen in Disney's Descendants, a live-action film which centres on the offspring of villains created for the movie studio's most-beloved films.
Chenoweth will star opposite Dove Cameron, who will take on the role of Mal, Maleficent's teenage daughter.
The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn star Booboo Stewart will play Jay, the son of Aladdin's Jafar, and newcomer Mitchell Hope will portray the product of Belle and the Beast's romance post Beauty & the Beast.
High School Musical and This Is It director Kenny Ortega will take charge of the film, which will debut next year (15).
Meanwhile, Angelina Jolie will hit the big screen as Maleficent on 30 May (14).
While kids are off at camp this summer tagging behind their counselors, there's only one counselor on our mind: Michael Fassbender. Fassbender takes the screen in Ridley Scott's The Counselor and not only does he look damn good, so does this thrilling film.
In the official trailer for the action-packed movie, Fassbender stars as a lawyer who becomes involved in drug traffickling hoopla. Although we've had peeks at the upcoming film, we haven't had such a vivid taste until now. In the foreground of the idyllic beach landscape, gun shots blare, car windows smash, and drama erupts while Fassbender meanders his way through drug trafficking theatrics. And as fast as we're hooked to this trailer, it halts with Cruz's character in a micheviously sexy tone muttering, "Have you been bad?" Damn.
What's most intriguing about this trailer – besides the epic cheetah chilling poolside – are the feisty dynamics that sizzle between all-star castmembers Brad Pitt, Cameron Diaz, and Penelope Cruz. The only bummer about this movie? We have to wait until Oct. 25t to catch The Counselor when it rolls into theatres. Ugh.

Ridley Scott's upcoming thriller The Counselor is set to be one of the most action-packed movies of fall 2013. Don't believe us? Watch the film's newly released second trailer.
On first watch, it's clear that the second trailer for The Counselor is pretty similar to the first, with the same lines of dialogue and images of beachy mansions and desert roads. This time, however, we get more of a glimpse into Michael Fassbender's titular character and his relationship with his fiancée Laura (played by Penelope Cruz). Indeed, the most memorable part of the minute-long clip is her delivery of the line, "Have you been bad?"
Also, we'd be remiss not to point out the new developments in Cameron Diaz's character. While trailer #1 featured Diaz crawling wildly across the hood of a sportscar in a cheetah-print dress, the new footage suggests that this woman has a serious fetish for the fierce spotted cats. Seriously, did you see those tattoos?
The Counselor hits theaters on October 25.

What is Ridley Scott + Cormac McCarthy + Brad Pitt + Michael Fassbender? The answer is the upcoming thriller The Counselor. The first teaser of the movie has just been released (initially only available in Russian-- блин!), and all we can say is this movie looks intense.
Directed by Ridley Scott and penned by No Country for Old Men author Cormac McCarthy, The Counselor tells the story of a lawyer (Fassbender) who gets involved in drug trafficking. Along the way, he meets the likes of Brad Pitt, Javier Bardem, Cameron Diaz, and Penelope Cruz, who plays his love interest.
The trailer is only 44-seconds long, but it is incredibly action-packed. From dead bodies on highways to a crazy-haired Javier Bardem (seriously, does this guy ever play a role that involves normal hair?), The Counselor looks like the Southwestern answer to Scarface. We see both cheetahs and Cameron Diaz in a cheetah-print dress, crawling across the hood of a bright yellow sportscar.
The Counselor is set to be released on October 25.

Cameron Crowe is not just making a movie. Cameron Crowe is saving the planet.
You might have heard of the time honored director's developing picture, a romance in which he has already cast everybody's favorite person Emma Stone as lead female. Now, Deadline reports that Crowe is seeking to offer the lead male spot to Bradley Cooper, one of the few figures in Hollywood to rival Stone in general affability. Everybody loves both these actors. That's reason enough to explain the casting decision, right?
Well, there's a little more to it than that. See, Stone and Cooper have worked together one before: in the 2008 Rainn Wilson comedy The Rocker. The film is not exactly the strongest testament to their talents, and could very nearly undercut these actors' reputations as America's favorite people. And believe it or not, that can present extremely dire ramifications.
At any given time, we can assume that an extraterrestrial superpowered legion is determining the value of any number of races across the universe. When these intergalactic judges happen upon the denizens of Earth, they're bound to come across our nation's unremitting celebration of figures like Stone and Cooper. And when they undertake their own investigations of these figures, they're quite likely to happen upon The Rocker. "This is the union of the two most beloved people on Planet Earth?" they'll say (or at least transmit mentally via their advanced forms of communication). "Balderdash! Down with this planet!" And thus, The Rocker becomes our undoing.
But not if Crowe can help it. Responsible for such cinematic masterpieces as Say Anything..., Jerry Maguire, and Almost Famous, Crowe will undoubtedly manufacture something that the human race can be proud of. The names of Stone and Cooper will maintain reverence, on this planet and all others. We'll be saved.
Thank you, Cameron Crowe. This almost makes up for Elizabethtown.

Yo yo yo, their names are Gwynny P and Cameron D and they're here to say, they're going rap on national television in a most embarrassing way!
Gywneth Paltrow and Cameron Diaz — sorry, MC Gwyneth Paltrow and DJ Jazzy Cameron Diaz — came up with a rap for their friend Chelsea Handler and her upcoming move to a new studio. The newly formed hip-hop duo recorded the whole thing on camera and Handler debuted it for all the world to see on her E! series Chelsea Lately.
Now, for better or worse, we're all familiar with Paltrow's rapping skills/street cred (she is pals with Jay-Z and Beyonce, after all) but Diaz, aside from having dated Justin Timberlake for a while, is pretty new to the game. So how did they fare as a unit?
While they aren't as terrible as you might imagine (it, is, however pretty high on the level of eye-rolling corniness), the ladies might not want to quit their day jobs. At one point Paltrow raps about how Handler is "a ho" who "drinks too much", while Diaz accompanies her as a human beat box. They conclude the whole thing with a verse, "50 Cent says you like it rough." Oh snap!
No matter what your feelings are about Diaz and Paltrow are (particularly the Oscar-winning actress' newfound affinity for rapping), this video likely won't tip the scales in a new direction. So, sit back, watch it and savor the flava. Or not.

Magnificent and terrifying human being Javier Bardem is currently on location in East London filming his new movie The Counselor. And, well, he looks approximately zero-point-zero percent like any counselor we've ever seen. The film is already quite buzzed-about, considering it is the work of director Ridley Scott, writer Cormac McCarthy, and stars Michael Fassbender, Brad Pitt, Cameron Diaz and Penélope Cruz in addition to Bardem and a slew of others. So! It's no surprise that a film with this much heft behind it might potentially out-do itself with the visual interpretation of its characters. After all, the whole film surrounds the story of a lawyer who ends up in over his head when he gets involved in drug trafficking. Woops!
But what is Bardem's role in the film? Well, taking a look at the picture of him from September 17th while on set, there are a few hypothetical scenarios here. What we really want to know is: what in the world is his character's inspiration, right? Take a look at the picture first.
Alright, now let's get down to it: what in the actual f**k is going on here? Like, seriously. This is a commercial boatload of crazy. So many conflicting things all put together! Did Bardem's character (named Reiner) quit his day job at a paper sales company to mate with a Jersey Shore cast member while snorting cocaine before hitting up a Chester the Molester sunglasses convention? Since the film has been described in the past as "No Country for Old Men on steroids," well, we're not all that surprised that the creep and crazy factor are ratcheted up pretty high. We've got a few other options of character inspiration for ol' Reiner below:
1.) Pauly D + Mitt Romney x Hunter S. Thompson = Reiner
2.) A Giant, Sunburnt Fish + Sensible Khakis and A Comb-Over + An Electrical Socket = Reiner
3.) Bart Simpson + 30 Actual Years of Aging + A Tanning Bed Addicition = Reiner
4.) A Meth-Addicted Pair of Khakis + Wildwood, New Jersey - Ed Hardy x The Sun = Reiner
What do you think of Bardem's look? Have any other mathematical equations to explain it? Leave 'em in the comments!

Fassbender Solidifies A-List Status with Ridley Scott's 'The Counselor'
Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger show off their action men credentials in the popular films, and West - who took control of the sequel - admits he has a few actresses in mind if movie bosses decided to create a female equivalent.
He tells E! Online, "I like the idea of the Expenda-Belles where it's seven or eight women mercenaries. It would be Angelina Jolie, Cameron Diaz, Milla Jovovich, the list goes on. Helen Mirren, Jamie Lee Curtis would be great.
"It would be running parallel. They would meet up and then they would fight and they would join up and save each other."
Actor Terry Crews, who plays Hale Caesar in the movies, adds, "I would love to see Charlize Theron. She would be a sweet bada** just doing some crazy stuff!"
