Let’s not allow Jimmy Kimmel to soil the good name of Friends fan-fiction. Although the late night host’s heavily funded but halfhearted attempt at the time-honored art form warranted few laughs, it did remind us that there are plenty of worthwhile pieces of writing floating around the Internet devoted to the West Village sextet. Some are admirable in quality, others in sheer passion. And some deserve a hat tip simply because of how damn weird they are.
Following Kimmel’s reunion of Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, and Lisa Kudrow, we hit the dark corners of the web to round up the strangest pieces of Friends fan-fiction we could find. Some rearrange the narrative of the beloved show in creative ways, some test the very fabrics of the laws of reality… and some simply vie to be as disturbing as conceivably possible. Take your pick.

"Prom Makes a Difference" by KateToastOr: The one where a teenage Rachel goes to prom with Ross instead of Chip, thus changing the course of their joint romantic journey entirely.
"They neared the Green mansion, as people in the neighborhood called it, since it was so large. Ross felt the all-too familiar flip-flop in his stomach as he and Rachel brushed sides. It had been happening all night, specifically when they had been dancing. He was still slightly in shock that she had agreed to dance with him at all. 'Well, this is it,' Rachel said as they reached her door. She looked up at him. 'This was really nice, Ross. Thank you for bringing me.'" [sic] Read the full story here!

"The One Where Chandler Finally Experiments" by JanaSelf explanatory.
"Chandler didn't know how he was going to face his friend in the morning. If he was this uncomfortable, just after having a conversation, he could only imagine how awkward things would be between them if he actually took him up on his offer. It was out of the question. Sex with friends was always a bad idea, anyway. Besides, he wasn't gay. He never imagined Joey was gay, either." Read the full story here!

R&B star Monica has called for an end to "senseless acts of violence" after a close family friend was shot dead over the weekend (23-24Aug14). The So Gone hitmaker took to her Instagram.com account on Saturday (23Aug14) to share her heartbreak after a pal identified only as Chris, who was friends with her brother-in-law David Brown, was killed.
Monica, who is married to basketball player Shannon Brown, stopped short of revealing specific details about his death, but used the opportunity to urge U.S. lawmakers to do more to curb the increasing numbers of gun-related murders across the country.
She shared a photo of Chris with his child on her Instagram page, and in the accompanying caption, she wrote, "With a heavy heart & tear filled eyes I send all my love and condolences to my brother @dcaffe & his family. RIP Chris your friendship & loyalty to my brother made you MY FAMILY...
"I've stopped asking why to ask WHEN.. When will these senseless acts of violence stop.. You were gunned down, taken from your children & in this cold cruel world that cares more now about reporting fashion & who's dating who there was barely a mention on the news.. #WakeUpWorld the old burying the young is NOT the way it's supposed to be. People only care for us as much as we care for ourselves... Change has GOT to come!!! #GoneToSoon (sic)".
Monica's plea is particularly timely following the ongoing uproar and protests over the controversial police shooting of unarmed Missouri teenager Michael Brown, who was killed as he attempted to surrender to a cop on 9 August (14). Brown, who is of no relation to the singer's family, was laid to rest on Monday (25Aug14).
This goes out to all those couples who have it together. They may not be perfect, and in some cases they might have gotten together later in the show than you wanted, but their relationships are realistic and desirable. They have what you look for in your next (or current) relationship. They love each other, they can make each other laugh, and everyone in their friend group respects them as The Best Couple. Would you really envy a couple like Ross and Rachel who spent way too many seasons dealing with their issues? Didn't think so.

Rita Ora has opened up about her no-show at last weekend's (10Aug14) Teen Choice Awards in Los Angeles, confirming reports suggesting her ex-boyfriend Calvin Harris refused to let her perform the love song they wrote together.
Ora was an anticipated performer at the ceremony, but DJ Harris, who owns the creative rights to I Will Never Let You Down, refused to approve the track at the last minute, and the R.I.P. singer was left with no option but to scrap her set.
Appearing on DJ Ryan Seacrest's radio show in L.A. on Tuesday (12Aug14), she explained, "For anybody who doesn't understand how it works, he wrote and produced the song, so he has to approve anything TV-wise... and he didn't approve the Teen Choice Awards. "I could have got told a few weeks earlier, you know. That would have been nice. It was a last minute change, but, you know what, it happens and we move on and move forward... It is what it is, man. You write a song with somebody, and I guess there's some stuff that comes with it... Everything happens for a reason, that's how I look at it."
Ora performed an unplugged acoustic set of the song on Seacrest's show and insisted that regardless of her ex's feelings about the tune, she still thinks it's a hit, adding, "It's basically a love song you can dance to. I wrote this with a really special person, and it was the first time I ever kind of opened my doors up for somebody I knew personally. So, this song was written out of love and... it was convenient for the time it was written."
"People move on and move forward, but the song still has the same message... It's still an amazing song. I don't want anybody to have, like, a dark cloud over this song."
Whitney Houston's daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown marked what would have been the tragic superstar's 51st birthday on Saturday (09Aug14) by celebrating with a cake and candles. The 21 year old shared a series of photos on her Twitter.com blog to commemorate the big day, and one shot featured a tasty treat decorated with candles in Houston's honour.
In the accompanying caption, she wrote, "#HappyBirthdaymommy ! #HappyBirthdayWhitney ! #AllAugustAllWhitney #iloveyou ! ...#Family (sic)."
Brown, the late singer's only child with ex-husband Bobby Brown, wasn't the only one to remember the special date.
R&B icon Mary J. Blige shared a photo of her old pal and wrote, "Happy Birthday to angel with the voice of God, and my friend. I miss you so much!!! #WhitneyHouston #BirthdayGirl".
Singer Monica also shared an image of the I Will Always Love You hitmaker and wrote, "August 9,1963 (an) angel was born.... You inspired, you loved, you gave so freely of yourself & your amazing gift ?? #ForeverLovedAndMissed #TheVoice #OneofOne (sic)", while Kelly Rowland added her own tribute, stating, "#Happy Birthday Whitney #ForeverWhitney".
Houston died from accidental drowning, with heart disease and cocaine use listed as contributing factors, in February, 2012. She was 48.
Pop star Rita Ora played a free show for fans in Santa Monica, California on Saturday (09Aug14) after reportedly pulling out of her performance at the 2014 Teen Choice Awards. The R.I.P. is reported to have axed her planned set at the prizegiving in California just days before the event and she appeared to address the rumours in a series of posts on Twitter.com on Saturday (09Aug14), revealing she was feeling "a little depressed" and adding, "Guys I am so sorry. I will make it up too you (sic). I promise. I'm devastated. I love my fans."
Ora went on to announce she would be performing a free show on Santa Monica pier with rapper Iggy Azalea, and she later posted a series of pictures from the gig, writing, "LA. You rocked thank you."
Chris Brown is cleaning house after his recent prison stint, and giving designer clothes and sneakers to charity. The troubled star's manager mum Joyce Hawkins was recently spotted handing over bags of clothes at a Santa Monica consignment shop in California, and shoppers were later told the items were all hand-me-downs from her son's closet!
One lucky shopper, who bagged a few Brown bargains, tells Life & Style magazine, "I was recently shopping at Crossroads Trading Co., and there was a frenzy. When I asked an employee what was going on, they said, 'Chris Brown's mom just came in and sold a ton of his clothes!'
"People were grabbing up lots of his high-end Adidas warm-up suits."
