Veteran rocker Rod Stewart is hoping to move back to his native Britain from California so his two youngest sons can be educated in the U.K. The crooner has lived in Los Angeles since 1975, and has been raising his two boys with wife Penny Lancaster in the U.S.
However, Stewart is now hoping to bring his family back to Britain so the boys, Alastair, eight, and Aiden, three, can go to a U.K. school, and he has even purchased a new home in Essex, England ahead of the move.
Stewart is quoted by Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper as saying, "This place (Britain) is still in my heart. We are planning hopefully on moving back in about 18 months so my kids can grow up here. It's not definite. But this is where me and Penny, this is where we come from."
Veteran crooner Rod Stewart marked his impending 69th birthday this week (beg06Jan14) by hosting a special dinner with his family in Los Angeles. The Scottish star celebrates his big day on Friday (10Jan14), and he marked the occasion early by taking his California-based relatives out for a meal at a restaurant on the city's famous Sunset Boulevard.
The group included Stewart's grown-up children Kimberly, Sean and Ruby, as well as the singer's wife Penny Lancaster.
During the meal, the Maggie May hitmaker was seen sporting a comedy red nose, and his daughter Ruby posted a snap to her Instagram.com page at her father's request.
She writes in a caption, "My dad asked me to capture this moment and to 'send it around the world' for his 69th birthday... Hope he is not disappointed with a mere 1823 people (Instagram followers)..."
Veteran rocker Rod Stewart plans all his tours around the school calendar so his young sons can join him on the road. The Maggie May musician has two young boys, Alastair, seven, and Aiden, two, with his wife Penny Lancaster, as well as a handful of grown-up children from his previous relationships.
Lancaster has now revealed the rocker enjoys having his young sons on the road with him, so he deliberately books his concerts during the school holidays.
She tells Britain's Hello! magazine, "He tries to plan his tour dates around the family and his tour manager will call me up to check Alistair's school schedule, and books the shows around that."
Rod Stewart, Idris Elba, Anna Friel, Melanie Chisholm and Britain's princes William and Harry were among the stars who manned the phones on a trading floor in London on Wednesday (11Sep13) as part of a 9/11 charity event. A whole host of actors, musicians and royals joined the British leg of Cantor Fitzgerald's and BGC Partners' annual Charity Day, which commemorates the victims of America's 2001 terrorist attacks.
As part of the event, famous faces man the phones and the day's profits are donated to good causes.
Stewart was there with his wife Penny Lancaster while Prince William and his brother Prince Harry also took calls during the star-studded event.
Other celebrities who turned out for the day's trading in London included Sir Ian McKellen, Sean Bean, David Hasselhoff, Cerys Matthews, Danny Dyer and Ashley Roberts, while on the other side of the Atlantic, Mariah Carey's husband Nick Cannon, Sean 'Diddy' Combs, actor Zachary Quinto, and The Sopranos stars Edie Falco and Bobby Cannavale turned out in New York.
Last year's (13) event raised millions of dollars for good causes worldwide.
Veteran rocker Rod Stewart issued a grovelling apology to Britain's Prince Charles on Tuesday (10Sep13) after keeping the royal waiting at an official engagement. The musician and his wife Penny Lancaster were scheduled to meet the prince at the opening of his charity's new shop in London, but the couple turned up 10 minutes late after their car got caught in traffic.
Prince Charles was left waiting for the singer, breaching protocol which dictates royals should always be the last to arrive for events.
Stewart was left red-faced when he eventually turned up and apologised to the prince for his tardiness, later telling reporters, "We have a place (house) over in Wapping (east London) and it took us three-quarters of an hour to get here... I wish I had my own police escort, I would always be on time."
Rod Stewart's wife Penny Lancaster has played down reports suggesting they secretly separated during a difficult period in their marriage, insisting the break-up was 13 years ago during their first month of dating. The Maggie May hitmaker covered Tom Waits' song Picture In A Frame for his latest album, and revealed it was inspired by a time when Lancaster walked out on him.
He said of the track, "Penny and I broke up for two weeks and the song is about that time. I asked her for a photo of herself in a frame so that I could see her when I went to bed and when I woke up."
The revelation sparked gossip about the state of the couple's marriage, but Lancaster has now revealed the two-week split occurred during the early stages of their romance - years before they wed in 2007.
She tells Britain's Daily Mirror, "It was 13 years ago - in the first month of our relationship! After Rod mentioned it people were going, 'What? Rod and Penny split up?' and thought it happened last week. We'd met in 1999 and we'd started having a few dates but we weren't really together. Then I just stopped seeing him. I said, 'Look, this isn't for me, great to have met you, blah, blah, blah' and he said, 'Well, can I keep a photo of you in a frame?'
"I thought, 'Erm... that's weird!' But it must have stuck in his head all this time for him to have made the connection with that track. I actually think it might have been his wake-up moment - kind of, 'What am I doing letting her go?' Bless him!"
Rod Stewart and his wife Penny Lancaster have been photographed dining at the same London restaurant table where Nigella Lawson and Charles Saatchi had a very public row earlier this month (Jun13). The singer and his partner were spotted laughing and enjoying each other's company at Scott's restaurant on Tuesday (25Jun13).
Singer Rod Stewart has recorded a song about his secret split from wife Penny Lancaster. The Maggie May hitmaker reveals he was left heartbroken after his third wife walked out on him during a difficult period in their marriage, and they were separated for two weeks.
The couple, who wed in 2007, eventually reconciled, but Stewart used the agonising ordeal as inspiration for a song on his latest album.
He explains, "I cover Tom Waits' Picture In A Frame on my new album Time. Penny and I broke up for two weeks and the song is about that time. I asked her for a photo of herself in a frame so that I could see her when I went to bed and when I woke up."
Stewart previously had a reputation as a womaniser but he is adamant Lancaster is the one for him, telling Australian magazine Life, "I have always loved women, won some, lost some, but it's not about the magic touch, it's about being a better person and a good listener. I met Penny in my 50s and if I had not learnt by that point in my life I was never going to."
Rod Stewart and his wife Penny Lancaster have reportedly spent more than $7 million (£4.4 million) on a Grade II listed stately home just outside London. Insiders claim the Stewarts are the new lord and lady of Durrington House, on the edge of England's Epping Forest.
The sprawling country retreat comes with a billiard room, 10 bedrooms, five bathrooms and an impressive basement wine cellar, while the grounds feature four cottages, a carriage house with an 18th-century clock tower, a rose garden, an orchard, tennis court and even a croquet lawn.
But the multi-millionaire singer recently told Mojo magazine he has quite a bit of renovating to do before he can move in to his new spread, revealing, "I haven't been able to sleep for worrying about roofs and lead pipes, Welsh tiles and felt underlay, damp-proofing and rewiring the whole house."
According to celebrity property news website RealEstalker.com, Stewart also owns another stately pile nearby, as well as pads in Beverly Hills and Palm Beach, Florida.
British pop star Harry Styles appears to have moved on following his split from singer Taylor Swift by reportedly embarking on a new relationship with Rod Stewart's daughter. The 19-year-old One Direction heartthrob, who reportedly separated from Swift in January (13), is now believed to be dating Kimberly Stewart, who is 14 years his senior at 33.
"(They are) very happy," a source tells EOnline.com. "They were introduced by a mutual friend who set them up, Kim is very strong willed, she goes for what she wants and Harry appreciates that. It is a very new thing and we'll see where it goes. She is exactly his type." The blonde socialite has already introduced her latest beau to her family - the rumoured couple was photographed dining at Dan Tana's restaurant in LA on Thursday (25Apr13) with singer Rod and his wife Penny Lancaster, as well as Kimberly's brother Sean.
An onlooker says, "Kim and Harry sat next to one another. (He was) very cuddly with her... He had his arm around her." It is not Kimberly's first romance with an A-lister - she has a daughter, Delilah, with actor Benicio del Toro and is also said to have dated stars including Rhys Ifans, Jude Law, Tommy Lee, Caleb Followill, Scott Caan and Jack Osbourne.
