Rocker Jack Antonoff has risked the wrath of Michael Jackson fans by insisting singer Taylor Swift is the "closest thing today" to the King of Pop.
The fun. rocker is adamant Swift is a better songwriter and more likely to be a longtime success than her pop contemporaries Katy Perry and Lady Gaga, whose music he brands "throwaway".
Antonoff, who wrote 2013 track Sweeter Than Fiction with Swift, tells GQ magazine, "I think Taylor Swift is one of the best songwriters ever. Taylor Swift is cool, because she's the closest thing today that hearkens to Michael Jackson - to great, great pop music. There's a difference between her and Gaga and Katy Perry and Lily Allen and all that. It all feels throwaway, comparatively."
fun. rocker Jack Antonoff met his now-girlfriend Lena Dunham on a blind date set up by their mutual friend, comedian Mike Birbiglia. The guitarist reveals he didn't know much about Girls creator and star Dunham before the 2012 date, so he made sure he did a little research before going out with her.
He tells New York magazine, "It was a blind date by modern standards. I mean, I used the Internet (to find out more about her)."
Antonoff, who dated Hollywood beauty Scarlett Johansson in high school, needn't have worried - the pair hit it off straight away.
He explains, "I told Lena everything about my whole life, because when you really like someone, you want them to know everything about you."
The couple is now looking towards the future and Antonoff reveals he is eager to settle down and start a family.
The 30 year old says, "It just seems like the most fun thing in the world. I've never met people who have kids who haven't looked me in the eye and been like, 'It's the greatest thing that's ever happened.'
"I'm not, like, 24 or 22. I'm no longer in the phase of my life where I talk about everything as in the future. Like, I'm in the future."
However, the musician admits he and Dunham are so busy, they may have to wait a while: "It's hard to imagine when the right time is because things are so crazy at the moment."

He added, "'Strange desire' is something that came to me a few weeks ago when I was working on the last song I wrote for the bleachers album. The lyric is, "feeling like i never was young I followed a dream and a strange desire.
"It was just something that came out in a scratch vocal take off the top of my head and I didn't realise how important it was in that moment. That line speaks to my entire life over the past 14 years of writing and being on tour. I do feel like I'm constantly mourning a childhood I never had. Mostly because I dealt with a lot of loss in the most formative years of my life. That ties into a lot of the lyrics on the album."
"Despite everything I've seen and done, I still believe most of what I read... so when an article claimed Jack & I had broken up after a display of street rage, I was all 'what? can't we try and work it out?'" I didn't mean for it to be this big secret, but I didn't want anything to speak for it besides the music itself. we live in a real "big announcement next week!" type of culture, and this all meant too much to me to put anything out there besides actual music.
"But now you know, and it means the world to me. everything I do, whether it's fun., bleachers or something else, the work only comes to life because you all inspire me to make it real. I could so easily sit in the studio (or rather in bed) and just work on things forever and never get to the point. moments like today, releasing new music and being able to connect you about it are why it all matters."
Bleachers' full-length studio album is due out this spring (14), and they will make their TV debut on new U.S. talk show Late Night With Seth Meyers on 26 March (14).
