"It was a slow time... I didn't have anything to talk about and she was like, 'Oh,' and her publicist whisked her away so fast it was like a poof of dust."
Dunham has since started dating fun. rocker Jack Antonoff.
"I saw my boyfriend and his girlfriend from high school - Scarlett Johansson... I'm not jealous. It's very sweet. I love looking at pictures of them. She's beautiful, he's beautiful, but it was just so surreal to be looking through this blog that gives me so much pleasure and then there's my boyfriend." He writes, "Didn't realize today would be as emotional as it is. I've been working on bleachers for a year and a half now. I didn't mean for it to be this big secret, but I didn't want anything to speak for it besides the music itself. we live in a real "big announcement next week!" type of culture, and this all meant too much to me to put anything out there besides actual music.
"But now you know, and it means the world to me. everything I do, whether it's fun., bleachers or something else, the work only comes to life because you all inspire me to make it real. I could so easily sit in the studio (or rather in bed) and just work on things forever and never get to the point. moments like today, releasing new music and being able to connect you about it are why it all matters."
Bleachers' full-length studio album is due out this spring (14), and they will make their TV debut on new U.S. talk show Late Night With Seth Meyers on 26 March (14).

Country star Taylor Swift defied her music managers' advice not to contribute a new song to the One Chance movie soundtrack after falling in love with the real-life underdog story. The film stars actor James Corden as cell phone salesman Paul Potts, who shot to fame as an opera singer after winning Simon Cowell's reality TV show Britain's Got Talent in 2007.
Swift reveals she was on a recording break when she heard about the soundtrack opportunity, and she had to fight her representatives to break her radio silence and create the song Sweeter Than Fiction.
She says, "I had to fight to do this because I try to take a break in between albums and try to give people a minute to not hear me on the radio.
"I had to go around and ask people, 'Can I please, please put something out even though we're supposed to be going quiet?' My management, my label were like, 'No new music until the next album comes out.' Then I saw the movie and I was like, 'I have to be a part of this.'"
Swift teamed up with fun. guitarist Jack Antonoff to pen the upbeat track and they had no trouble coming up with ideas for the tune.
She adds, "Getting to see the struggles and triumphs of someone who never stopped chasing what he was after really inspired me. It's a beautiful movie and I just wanted to share it with as many people as I could."
Actress Lena Dunham has gone public with a sweet email love letter she sent to her pop star boyfriend Jack Antonoff as part of a new art project. The Girls creator and star was among the celebrities who allowed filmmaker Miranda July to browse their email inboxes for her online collection, We Think Alone, which gives fans a chance to peak at private correspondence belonging to 10 public figures.
Dunham previously shared a message from April (13), when she almost purchased a $24,000 (£15,480) sofa from Sweden, only to change her mind and tell her assistant the furniture was "just too expensive".
Now the actress has allowed July to use a note intended for fun. star Antonoff, which was written last year (12) during a family trip to India.
In the email, she wrote, "I was walking through a beautiful Indian garden this morning... and passed a big green pond with a dozen disorderly swans.
"All the old people in my party were cooing about the swans but I was focused on this young couple, late teens or early twenties, curled up on a bench talking really animatedly. We spent 40 minutes walking around the garden and when we circled back they were still there, chatting like fiends. And I thought of you, like always, and I felt I could spend four days on a bench with you and it wouldn't be enough time to hear all the stories you have to tell.
"I literally want to know everything you have ever seen and what you felt like while you were seeing it. And I will be so much better my whole life for knowing those things."
The MTV Video Music Awards may no longer award Moonmen in categories such as "Best Post-Modern Music Video," but that doesn't mean the awards show has sold out and gone all mainstream. In fact, thanks to its location, nominees, and lineup, we may be poised for the most hipster VMAs of all time.
LOCATIONTalk about street cred. In 2013, the VMAs moved to Brooklyn for the first time ever. The show will be nestled in the Barclays Center, home of the Brooklyn Nets (the most hipster of basketball teams), Brooklyn's first state of the art stadium, which Jay Z himself had a stake in. The stadium serves food from local vendors and the basketball court itself — which, granted, will not be in place during the awards show — is herringbone. If Brooklyn wasn't hipster enough (which it is; it's basically the epicenter of hipster), the stadium certainly is — this ain't the Staples Center.
THE NOMINEESBrigitte Engl/WENN
Holy indie bands, Batman! While teen-friendly staples like Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez and blockbuster favorites like Justin Timberlake and Kanye West rule this year's list of nominees, quite a few indie bands are also getting their time in the spotlight this year — and what's more hipster than an indie band? Sure, the list includes gettin'-too-big-for-their-britches Mumford & Sons and fun., but we could also see less mainstream artists like Duck Sauce, Flying Lotus, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Capital Cities, and The Weeknd take home a trophy. And, while we're at it, Janelle Monae, Lana Del Rey, Vampire Weekend, Imagine Dragons, Miguel, and Iggy Azalea — is this an awards show or a warehouse party in Bushwick?
THE LINEUPAnd things get even more hipster when you consider the presenters and performers. We've been promised appearances by everyone's-fantasy-hipster-boyfriend Joseph Gordon-Levitt, the chillest-host-to-ever-sit-behind-a-Late-Night-desk Jimmy Fallon, Scottish-powerhouse-and-style-icon Emeli Sandé, and I'm-so-hipster-I-bleed-PBR Jared Leto. There is also a rumored surprise performance by Daft Punk because of course.
BONUS: LENA DUNHAM Fun. is nominated for a VMA. Lena Dunham is dating fun. guitarist Jack Antonoff. There's a good chance Lena Dunham will be at the Barclays Center tonight. And anything Lena Dunham attends automatically gets 5 million hipster points.
The VMAs air on MTV Sunday, Aug. 25 at 9 PM ET.

Actresses Kirsten Dunst and Lena Dunham have shared emails from their personal accounts for a new art project. The Hollywood stars allowed filmmaker Miranda July to browse their inboxes for her online artwork, We Think Alone, which gives fans a chance to peak at private emails belonging to 10 public figures.
The first selection, sent out to July's subscribers on Monday (01Jul13), was titled An Email About Money and included a message Dunst sent from her iPhone about selling her used car to a pal.
The Spider-Man star writes, "My friend Jessica is buying my car for 7,000 I gave her your info for payments. She's going to pay 2,000 up front and then pay the rest as fast as she can. Thanks, Kirsten."
Girls creator Dunham's April (13) correspondence deals with a $24,000 (£15,483) sofa she nearly ordered from Sweden, before she wrote to her assistant to declare the piece of furniture "just too expensive".
July insists her celebrity contributors were happy to join in, adding, "I needed someone who would deliver, and knew that Lena Dunham would be totally uninhibited... And I was kind of surprised with Lena Dunham by how many (emails) are to her boyfriend (fun. rocker Jack Antonoff). I assume Jack knows she's doing this. And that he's cool with it... Then I chose Kirsten Dunst as an actress whose power comes from you not really knowing who she is."
Upcoming themes include An Email To Your Mom, An Email About Something You Want, An Email that Gives Advice and An Angry Email.
Girls star Adam Driver has wed his longtime girlfriend. The actor exchanged vows with Joanne Tucker over the weekend (21-23Jun13), with his co-star Lena Dunham and her rocker boyfriend Jack Antonoff in attendance.
Notoriously-private Driver never even publicly confirmed his engagement and no further details about the nuptials were available as WENN went to press.
A source tells UsMagazine.com, "They are very sweet together. They've been dating forever, years, and live together; (they're) very comfortable and in love. She was with him before the Girls fame... Everyone on the show is very happy for them."
