John Travolta wowed the crowd at the International Indian Film Academy Awards by putting on an impromptu performance with Indian superstar Priyanka Chopra. The Pulp Fiction star was honoured with the Outstanding Achievement in International Cinema prize at the glitzy bash in Tampa, Florida on Saturday (26Apr14), marking the first time the awards gala has been held in the U.S.
The prizegiving featured a spectacular performance by Chopra and during her routine, she pulled Travolta onto the stage to dance with her.
Travolta later picked up his prize from actor Hrithik Roshan, who joined the Hollywood icon in showing off moves from Saturday Night Fever, and the U.S. star told the crowd of his trophy, "I'm honoured. I'm humbled."
Other guests at the prizegiving included Kevin Spacey, who presented one of the night's awards, and was persuaded to don a sarong to dance to a song from the movie Chennai Express.
The big winner of the night was Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, a film about the life of Indian athlete Milkha Singh. The film won a clutch of awards including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Lead Actor for Farhan Akhtar.
Hollywood actor Jamie Foxx, pop star Kelly Rowland and comedian Kevin Hart were among the guests who turned out for Gabrielle Union's engagement party over the weekend (15-16Mar14). The actress accepted a proposal from her basketball player partner Dwyane Wade in December (13) and the couple threw a lavish bash for friends and family in Miami Beach, Florida on Saturday night (15Mar14) to toast the engagement.
The evening included a dinner at steak/seafood restaurant Prime 112 and a party at the Nikki Beach venue, during which actor/singer Foxx sang for the happy couple, according to New York Post gossip column Page Six.
Kevin Spacey's publicist has denied reports the actor skipped the annual Vanity Fair party after Sunday's (02Mar14) Academy Awards due to Gwyneth Paltrow's feud with the magazine's editor. Reports in the New York press suggested a number of A-list stars boycotted the exclusive bash in support of Paltrow, who fell out with media mogul Graydon Carter last year (13) over his plans to publish an expose on her life.
Spacey was said to be one of the big names who deliberately avoided the bash, but a representative for the American Beauty star insists he did not go to any Oscars afterparties.
The publicist explains the actor wanted to attend the launch of Will Ferrell's cancer charity the following day (03Mar14), telling GossipCop.com, "He cares about the kids who have survived cancer, and that is the reason he did not attend any of the post-Oscar parties, not even the one that his producing partner threw for Captain Phillips, a film he is extremely proud to be a part of that was nominated for six Academy Awards.
"His sole priority that night after the show was to help the young students whose lives have been changed for the better through this charity."
Carter revealed in the March (14) issue of Vanity Fair that he and Paltrow made amends after she called him at his office to discuss her reaction to the planned article.
The Jonas Brothers enjoyed a part reunion on Thursday night (12Dec13) when Joe and Nick Jonas reteamed at a Christmas show in New York. The trio, Joe, Nick and Kevin, called it quits in October (13) after pulling the plug on their North American tour. They later revealed a series of furious bust-ups had prompted the split.
However, Jonas Brothers fans got the chance to see two-thirds of the boyband at the KISS 98.5 FM's Kissmas Bash at the First Niagara Center in Buffalo when Joe and Nick rocked out on stage together.
The duo sang a number of their former band's hits, and Joe took to Twitter.com after the event to thank the crowd for a warm welcome.
He wrote, "We had a great time last night thank you Buffalo for makin our wildest dreams come true. All of them."
The pair didn't explain why their older brother Kevin missed the show.
The Wanted and Fifth Harmony also performed at the event.
Enrique Iglesias, Fall Out Boy, Josh Hutcherson, Kevin Jonas and Nikki Reed were among the stars who joined host Nick Cannon to honour outstanding youngsters at the TeenNick HALO Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday (17Nov13). Mariah Carey's husband launched the Nickelodeon bash in 2009 to honour teenagers who are making a difference in their communities by "helping and leading others", and he returned to host the 2013 show at the Hollywood Palladium.
During the concert, four teens were honoured for their community service work and the ceremony featured performances from Fall Out Boy, Austin Mahone and Enrique Iglesias, who closed the event.
Other guests at the bash included Dax Shepard, Darren Criss, Chloe Bennet and Jennette McCurdy.
Cannon says of the 2013 event, "I'm humbled by the truly inspiring and tremendous work these HALO honorees are doing in their communities. It's my goal to continue the conversations about issues that impact teens today, and empower young people to take action and make a difference in the world."
Actress and singer Kristin Chenoweth has a new man in her life after taking Kevin Spacey's film producer pal to Matthew Morrison's Halloween party as her date over the weekend (26-27Oct13). The petite blonde joined her former Glee co-star Morrison for his annual masquerade soiree at Hollywood hotspot Warwick on Saturday (26Oct13) and she openly kissed and cuddled with Dana Brunetti, a producer on the upcoming film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey.
Chenoweth, who has been single since splitting from U.S. reality star Jake Pavelka in February (13), attended the bash dressed as a SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics) team member, while the industry executive, who heads up Spacey's Trigger Street Productions firm, donned a Star Wars Stormtrooper outfit, reports Eonline.com.
Brunetti wasn't the only guest drawing inspiration for his costume from Star Wars - actor Chris Colfer went as R2D2.
Other partygoers included JC Chasez and Lauren Conrad, while host Morrison dressed up as Andy Warhol and his fiancee, Renee Puente, portrayed the revered artist's muse, Edie Sedgwick.
Hollywood veterans Michael Douglas, Robert De Niro and Morgan Freeman ruled Las Vegas on Friday (18Oct13) as they were handed the key to the hard-partying city. The trio was given a special welcome to Sin City, where the stars' new movie Last Vegas is set, as they were honoured at a red carpet ceremony at the Bellagio hotel and casino.
They were joined by their Last Vegas co-stars Kevin Kline and Mary Steenburgen as Mayor Carolyn G. Goodman presented keys to each of the cast members.
The comedy stars Douglas as a groom who heads to Sin City with his ageing pals for a blow-out bachelor bash ahead of his nuptials.
Mad Men star Jon Hamm is hosting a special party for the Emmy Award losers to cheer them up after Sunday night's (22Sep13) ceremony. Hamm is nominated in the category for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his portrayal of Don Draper in Mad Men, but he is not expecting to win after having lost out on the trophy five times in previous years.
He has now decided to team up with another former Emmy loser, Amy Poehler, to host a party for everyone who misses out.
Hamm tells Eonline.com, "We figured that the winners get celebrated enough so we thought it was about time that the losers get celebrated. And Poehler and I are friends from a long time ago and every year when we would lose the Emmy we would kind of wink at each other and call each other loser for the rest of the night... We called it the Losers Lounge because nobody that was there won and it kind of stuck. We were like, 'That was a really fun party. We should do that again, but we should do it bigger and better and invite our friends who aren't going to win either and we'll have a good time with it.'"
Winners will only be allowed to attend the bash if they leave their Emmy Award at the door and make a $1,000 (£667) donation to charity.
Hamm faces competition from Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad), Hugh Bonneville (Downton Abbey), Damian Lewis (Homeland), Kevin Spacey (House Of Cards) and Jeff Daniels (The Newsroom). Poehler is contention for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her role in Parks and Recreation.
The awards will be handed out at a ceremony in Los Angeles on Sunday night.
Selena Gomez, Dave Franco and Cody Simpson were among the entertainment industry's brightest rising stars who turned out for the glitzy 2013 Young Hollywood Awards in California on Thursday night (01Aug13). Singer/actress Gomez was the toast of the evening at The Broad Stage venue in Santa Monica as she collected two trophies - her new record Stars Dance won the Fan Favorite Album Award, and she also landed the Most Anticipated Tour Award.
James Franco's actor brother Dave was also among the recipients, picking up the Fan Favorite Award, while teenage singer Simpson was handed the Role Model Award for his work with Roger Daltrey's cancer charity for young people.
Simpson also performed at the event along with Miguel, who landed the Best Male Singer Award, and Austin Mahone, the winner of the Breakout Artist Award.
Other guests at the bash included actor Ian Somerhalder, Glee's Kevin McHale, and reality TV star Kelly Osbourne, who walked the red carpet with her fiance Matthew Mosshart and later picked up a style prize.
Comedian Kevin Hart kicked off his hosting duties at the Philly 4th of July Jam in Pennsylvania by insisting the crowds at the big bash sing him Happy Birthday. The Philadelphia native took to the stage at The Roots' annual Independence Day bash in the city wearing a stars and stripes vest with the word 'freedom' printed on the front, and declared, "I'm home".
He then added, "It's my birthday weekend right now... Before we start this show... I've got a chance to set a record and have five million people sing me Happy Birthday.
"I don't want the old school Happy Birthday, I want (Stevie Wonder's) Happy Birthday."
The Roots then started playing the classic tune onstage as the crowd sang along and Hart danced, stating, "I love you Philadelphia".
The celebration also featured another Philadelphia native Jill Scott, as well as Grace Potter, John Mayer, J. Cole, Ne-Yo and Hunter Hayes, who stepped in at the last minute to replace sick Demi Lovato.
