When The Talk decided to have a "secret" themed week, I doubt they were prepared for the kind of secrets that were revealed. Aisha Tyler broke hearts when she exposed her struggle with infertility while Sharon Osbourne grossed everyone out when she revealed her fling with Jay Leno. Then, Julie Chen outraged audiences when she explained that she had to have plastic surgery to make it as a broadcast journalist. However, even after all of these major revelations, no one was prepared for Sara Gilbert's admission: She realized she way gay while dating Roseanne co-star Johnny Galecki.
Before Gilbert and Galecki starred as a couple on The Big Bang Theory, they played a couple on the popular '90s show Roseanne. While filming Roseanne, Galecki and Gilbert also started dating in real life. However, Gilbert realized during this time that she wasn't attracted to Galecki and explains, "I thought he was super cute and had a total crush on him and we started dating and he would come over and we would make out and then I would start to get depressed." When she felt that Galecki started "taking it personally" she revealed to him that she was gay. His reaction? "He was super sweet about it."
For years, Gilbert, along with Galecki, kept her secret. During the filming of Roseanne, Gilbert says she "started dating a woman who was like 18 years older… who was also in the public eye." She goes on to say, "It was something people could have found out about. Like no one knew at the show for years, and Johnny held the secret the whole time. And I always felt so scared. If it came out, what could happen? Could I lose my career? Will I ever be able to play a straight role again?"
While Gilbert still struggles with discussing her sexuality, she says, "I have an amazing life, but I want people to know that there can still be a struggle with it, and that's OK. There can be a part of you that doesn't want to feel different or feel scared."
After spending years guarding her secret, Galecki and Gilbert are still friends. In fact, she contacted him before going on The Talk and asked him, "Is it okay? I'm thinking of talking about this. The story starts with you." Galecki replied, "Of course. I love you, and I think it's really important. And I'm so proud of you ... If you want, I will be there, and I will hold your hand."
Well, if this isn't the cutest friendship in the history of friendships, I don't know what is.

We all know J.J. Abrams has a repertory company of actors who keep popping up in his work: Simon Pegg, Keri Russell, Greg Grunberg. But now Benedict Cumberbatch may be set to join that group. Star Trek Into Darkness' erstwhile Khan is rumored to be in the running for a role in Abrams' upcoming Star Wars: Episode VII, according to the website Film Chronicles. Admittedly, the source here is murky, and Lucasfilm is neither confirming nor denying the news — "no comment" is the preferred response of the House that George Built for any such rumors. But given Abrams' proclivity for repeat casting, it seems a definite possibility.
If this report turns out to be true, we can muster only one response — screw you, J.J. Abrams. Cumberbatch did his best as Khan in Star Trek Into Darkness, but you gave him an impossible challenge: to live up to the standard of Ricardo Montalban. Obviously, it didn't work, as Trekkers recently voted Into Darkness the worst Trek film of them all. (And here are 12 reasons why we agree.) If Cumberbatch will indeed play a character in Episode VII, it's going to be hard for me, and a lot of other fans, to avoid dwelling on Into Darkness connotations. That's not something Cumberbatch will have to worry about in any of his upcoming other projects like 12 Years a Slave, The Fifth Estate, and August: Osage County, but it will be everpresent in J.J.'s Galaxy Far, Far Away feature.
Lucasfilm and Disney obviously want Episode VII to be a fresh take on the saga. That's why they brought in screenwriter Michael Arndt, as well as Abrams himself. But Abrams seems like he wants to replicate what he did on the Trek films with Wars — he's already brought in his DP on Into Darkness to shoot the new film. Cumberbatch's casting will feel like he's deliberately retreading what he did in Trek. And I know some fans will quibble and say that was George Lucas' thinking when he originally decided against having Harrison Ford play Indiana Jones. But Dr. Jones came off Ford's universally beloved turn as Han Solo. We can't say the same for Cumberbatch as Khan.
Am I just a fan throwing a hissy fit or do you also object to the idea of Cumberbatch in Jedi robes? Khaaaaaaaaan!

It seems a bit odd to take on a movie review of Courtney Solomon's Getaway, as only in the loosest terms is Getaway actually a movie. We begin without questions — other than a vague and frustrating "What the hell is going on?" — and end without answers, watching Ethan Hawke drive his car into things (and people) for the hour and a half in between. We learn very little along the way, probed to engage in the mystery of the journey. But we don't, because there's no reason to.
There's not a single reason to wonder about any of the things that happen to Hawke's former racecar driver/reformed criminal — forced to carry out a series of felonious commands by a mysterious stranger who is holding his wife hostage — because there doesn't seem to be a single ounce of thought poured into him beyond what he see. We learn, via exposition delivered by him to gun-toting computer whiz Selena Gomez, that he "did some bad things" before meeting the love of his life and deciding to put that all behind him. Then, we stop learning. We stop thinking. We start crashing into police cars and Christmas trees and power plants.
Why is Selena Gomez along for the ride? Well, the beginnings of her involvement are defensible: Hawke is carrying out his slew of vehicular crimes in a stolen car. It's her car. And she's on a rampage to get it back. But unaware of what she's getting herself into, Gomez confronts an idling Hawke with a gun, is yanked into the automobile, and forced to sit shotgun while the rest of the driver's "assignments" are carried out. But her willingness to stick by Hawke after hearing his story is ludicrous. Their immediate bickering falls closer to catty sexual tension than it does to genuine derision and fear (you know, the sort of feelings you'd have for someone who held you up or forced you into accessorizing a buffet of life-threatening crimes).
After Dark Films
The "gradual" reversal of their relationship is treated like something we should root for. But with so little meat packed into either character, the interwoven scenes of Hawke and Gomez warming up to each other and becoming a team in the quest to save the former's wife serve more than anything else as a breather from all the grotesque, impatient, deliberately unappealing scenes of city wreckage.
And as far as consolidating the mystery, the film isn't interested in that either, as evidenced by its final moments. Instead of pressing focus on the answers to whatever questions we may have, the movie's ultimate reveal is so weak, unsubstantial, and entirely disconnected to the story entirely, that it seems almost offensive to whatever semblance of a film might exist here to go out on this note. Offensive to the idea of film and story in general, as a matter of fact. But Getaway isn't concerned with these notions. Not with story, character, logic, or humanity. It just wants to show us a bunch of car crashes and explosions. So you'd think it might have at least made those look a little better.

Boxer and actor Mike Tyson stunned a wedding party in upstate New York over the weekend (24Aug13) when he showed up and agreed to pose for pictures with the bride and groom. The champ was staying at the Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona when stumbled upon Greg and Amber Keller's nuptials and decided to wish the newlyweds well.
The star, who has been married three times, was in Verona for his first promotional fight card featuring boxers from his Iron Mike Productions.
Greg Keller says Tyson was "extremely nice".
Late author Elmore Leonard's son has announced he hopes to complete the literary legend's last novel. Leonard, who wrote the books that inspired films like Get Shorty and Out of Sight, died on Tuesday (20Aug13) after suffering a stroke. He was 87.
The writer was working on his 46th novel, Blue Dreams, at the time of his death and now his son Peter tells the BBC he is keen to complete the tome.
He says, "It's been discussed among family members and I've talked to Greg Sutter, Elmore's longtime researcher (about it)."
Leonard was laid to rest in his hometown of Birmingham, Michigan on Saturday (24Aug13). At the funeral his son Bill told mourners, "Everyone knows that Elmore was a great writer. But only a few of us know that he was a great father - funny, patient and incredibly generous."
British pop star Ellie Goulding has been the target of online abuse following reports she is dating One Direction star Niall Horan. The pair was linked after they were potted sharing a kiss at Britain's V Festival earlier this month (Aug13).
The Your Song hitmaker has since been bombarded with tweets from obsessed fans of the band, and she insists she has decided against speaking about her reported romance with the Irish singer.
She tells Britain's Daily Mirror, "Oh God, I knew this was coming! I just can't talk about Niall. I won't ever talk about my love life any more because it's always then gone wrong when I have in the past.
"But I will say this, I've definitely had some 'interesting' tweets since the story came out. Thankfully I'm able to take it all with a pinch of salt because I've been told to be that way.
"I genuinely mean this - I don't hate on anyone, but at least One Direction fans are very passionate and my fans are very passionate too. I'd hate it if people didn't care about what they thought."
The singer has previously dated actor Jeremy Irvine, dubstep star Skrillex, and British DJ Greg James.
Rock legend Carl Palmer had to turn down the chance to become Black Sabbath's new drummer when the heavy metal stars reunited in 2011 because he was too busy touring with supergroup Asia. The former Emerson, Lake & Palmer star has revealed pal Tony Iommi offered him the job when it became clear Bill Ward would not be part of the reunion but he had to decline the dream gig.
Palmer, who will launch his first Los Angeles art exhibit at Mr. Musichead gallery on Thursday (22Aug13), tells WENN, "Tony and I did talk when they were looking for drummers to make the album and he put me forward. I couldn't do it because I was off with Asia, we were touring and then something else came up. I couldn't have done it but I would have loved to. It just wasn't on the cards."
But the rocker, who is hoping to attend Black Sabbath's homecoming gig in Birmingham, England in December (13), admits that playing in a band like Iommi's is something he'd still like to do.
He adds, "I was classically trained but basically I'm a rock drummer and I've never been in a true out-and-out guitar band like Black Sabbath, where it's just big riffs - very simple but very dynamic... It would be extremely invigorating.
"The older I get the more I appreciate that music... I was late to come to heavy metal. Asia had a bit of that but we were a little bit more corporate rock and melodic."
One thing Palmer won't be doing is reuniting with Greg Lake and Keith Emerson anytime soon.
He states, "I don't really want to play with ELP anymore. I've made that very clear. We played in July, 2010 in London and that's gone."
Marg Helgenberger is set for a return to hit forensics drama Csi: Crime Scene Investigation for the show's 300th episode. The actress quit the show in 2011, but her character Catherine Willows wasn't killed off and she expressed an interest in returning to the series for one-off episodes.
Helgenberger will return to help Ted Danson and the current cast solve a case that seems more than similar to one her character investigated at the beginning of the CSI run 14 years ago, according to TVLine.com.
Executive producer Don McGill says, "We will flash back 14 years to seminal moments that show Catherine, Nick (George Eads), Sara (Jorja Fox), Greg (Eric Szmanda) and Ecklie (Marc Vann) as they were, (and how that) informed the evolution of the characters now. It's going to be a really fun episode, very emotional."
The new season of CSI premieres in America on 25 September (13).
Rocker Greg Hetson has filed for divorce from his wife Alia. The Bad Religion guitarist is currently locked in a restraining order battle with Alia after both alleged abuse against each other.
Last month (Jul13), Alia, accused the rocker of throwing her to the ground during an explosive argument and was granted a protective order against him.
The rocker shot back with his own allegations of abuse and theft claiming Alia beat him with a coat hanger and stole $18,000 (GBP12,000) from their joint bank account and filed his own restraining order against his estranged spouse.
In the divorce documents, Hetson cites irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split, and he wants to block the court from awarding Alia spousal support, according to TMZ.com.
The former couple has been married for two years and have no children together.
