Pop star Katy Perry reluctantly broke off her romance with John Mayer in a bid to properly deal with her feelings following her 2011 marriage split from Russell Brand. The singer admits her emotions were all over the place when the British comedian filed for divorce in late December, 2011 because the breakdown of her marriage had occurred while she was still busy on her Teenage Dream world tour.
She recalls, "There were two weeks of my life after I found out the truth of my marriage where I was like, 'OK. All right. I can't feel this. This is too intense right now. I was, like, just eating Flamin' Hot Cheetos (cornmeal snacks) and drinking, and that's it."
She began dating Mayer in August, 2012, but forced herself to take a break from the fledgling relationship earlier this year (13) to fully reflect on her situation, and she insists the time apart has only made their relationship stronger after reuniting over the summer (13).
Perry tells Marie Claire magazine, "I took a break from my boyfriend, not one that I wanted. It was like a splash of cold water to search inward on what was going on with me. That is what let (sic) me to this new awakening, this realising, 'If I don't do some self-love, I'm not going to be able to keep the love that I want.' I still needed to deal with all of my ex-husband stuff. I hadn't. It's almost like if I kept talking about it, it would seem like I actually cared about it. I don't."
Now Perry can't help but gush about her love for Mayer, saying, "(It's) a rad, mature relationship... He's just a fantastic partner. I've been a fan of his for such a long time. He's got a brilliant, brilliant mind."
The pop beauty recently suggested she penned her hit single Roar about her on/off romance with Mayer, stating, "Roar is a song I wrote as I was a little bit upset. I found myself having a break with my boyfriend, who I loved very much and it really hurt my heart."
"I'm definitely not there yet, and I can't plan that far in advance. When I decide to have a family, I'll just want to be Mum for a little bit." Pop star Katy Perry isn't ready to start a family just yet. The 29 year old, who is currently dating rocker John Mayer, was previously married to British comedian Russell Brand.
Musician John Mayer has split from his manager Michael McDonald after 13 years together. No reason for the break has been given, but McDonald confirmed the news in a statement that reads, "After 13 years, John and I are parting ways. It's been a magnificent journey, which began before his debut album, and along the way has included seven Grammy awards, years of massively successful tours around the world, and over 20 million albums sold. I hold John's talent in the highest regard and wish him nothing but the best."
McDonald, who also manages other artists such as Passion Pit, St. Lucia, and Ray LaMontagne, finalised the split on Tuesday (03Dec13).
Mayer is currently on the second leg of his John Mayer Live In Concert tour in North America.
Lovebirds Katy Perry and John Mayer have posed in their first portraits together for the cover art of Mayer's new single, Who You Love. The couple is showing a rare public display of affection in a new photoshoot for their song collaboration from Mayer's sixth studio album, Paradise Valley.
The black and white cover image, taken by snapper Mario Sorrenti, shows the Roar hitmaker lounging on a couch with her hand lovingly touching her beau's neck, as he sits on the floor playing his guitar, while another shot in the series captures Mayer's flirtatious side as he kisses Perry's neck.
In an interview with the Associated Press in August (13), Mayer opened up about their duet, hoping listeners would look past their celebrity relationship and enjoy the song for what it is.
He explains, "If the music is framed correctly and quality, and if it's right and the soul is there, it would be the highest compliment to the record if somebody said or people said, 'I don't even think about it being about a relationship, I just hear it as a great song.'"
Some celebrties like to use Twitter as their creative writing class and can spout off some truly random tweets. This week's stars, however, took to Twitter to muse about the intracacies of life, like unconditional love, being kind to your fellow humans, and Beyoncé (because of course). Rainn Wilson also took the time to ask the one question that everyone in the world has been asking.
Remember, kids: cocaine-buying Rep. Trey Radel was into hip-hop, so let this be a warning about the dangers of the Congressional lifestyle.

Yes, unconditional love sometimes feels like being hit by a car... Or being on fire... How does it feel to you?

Taylor Swift was surprised to receive a sweet phone call from the ex-boyfriend who inspired her Red album after he listened to the record's deeply personal lyrics. The singer, who is known for writing about her love life in her songs, has revealed her 2012 record was based around one particular romance which ended badly, so she was shocked to hear from the man in question after he heard the tracks.
She tells New York Magazine, "(I) heard from the guy that most of Red is about. He was like, 'I just listened to the album, and that was a really bittersweet experience for me. It was like going through a photo album.' That was nice. Nicer than, like, the ranting, crazy emails I got from this one dude. It's a lot more mature way of looking at a love that was wonderful until it was terrible, and both people got hurt from it - but one of those people happened to be a songwriter. So what are you going to do? Did you not Wikipedia me before you called me up (for a date)?"
The Love Story star also admits that not all of her dates make it into her lyrics as some are not exciting enough to mention. She adds, "If I go on two dates with a guy and we don't click, I'm not writing a song about that. It didn't matter in the emotional grand scheme of things. There's a lot that goes on in daily life that isn't really worth turning into a verse and a chorus."
Swift has previously been linked to stars including John Mayer, Harry Styles, Taylor Lautner and Jake Gyllenhaal.
Katy Perry sparked engagement rumours at the MTV Europe Music Awards on Sunday night (10Nov13) when she was spotted wearing a sparkling ring on her wedding finger. The music event in Amsterdam, Holland was a big night for Perry as she scooped the award for Best Female and performed her new track Unconditionally while suspended in mid-air.
However, it was her choice of jewellery which caught the attention of fans as the Firework superstar was seen wearing a diamond band on her left hand, sparking speculation that her relationship with John Mayer could be heading in a new direction.
The couple has been dating on/off for two years. Perry was previously married to British comic Russell Brand from 2010 to 2011.
Pop star Katy Perry has confessed she fell in love with a female friend as a teenager. The I Kissed a Girl hitmaker was forced to hide her feelings from her pal at the time, but now insists mystery girl had a huge impact on her life.
She tells France's Entrevue magazine, "When I was 15, I fell in love with a female friend. I thought she was beautiful and wanted to be like her. She had such a crazy impact on my life, but I never told her how I felt."
The singer, who is now dating musician John Mayer, insists she will never rule out having a relationship with a woman, and also reveals her celebrity crush, adding, "I've told my boyfriend that if Scarlett Johansson wanted to go out with me, I'd let her. No problem. Female beauty can be incredibly powerful... Actually, I'm obsessed with beautiful women and their elegance. I like the paradox of appearing innocent and sexy all at once."
