Rapper Lil Wayne has incurred the wrath of American patriots by stomping all over the U.S. flag while filming a music video in Louisiana over the weekend (14-16Jun13). The Lollipop hitmaker was shooting a promotional clip for his new track God Bless Amerika in New Orleans, when he was captured on camera intentionally dancing on the Star-Spangled Banner - America's symbol of independence.
Aside from upsetting his fellow countrymen, the rapper has also broken the law under the United States Flag Code.
According to the country legal's guidelines, the American flag should never touch the ground or be stepped on, but fortunately for the star, real name Dwayne Carter, Jr., the rules are not widely enforced by the government.
Video footage of the stunt, obtained by TMZ.com, has caused an uproar from fans over the hip-hop star's alleged lack of respect for the flag, though the song's lyrics are just as controversial - referencing America's violent slave history, he rhymes, "My country 'tis of thee/Sweet land of kill 'em all and let 'em die/God bless Amerika/This ole' godless Amerika (sic)."
Although the era surrounding her reality show The Simple Life has Paris Hilton as America's "it girl," recent years (ever since the Kardashian klan kruised in) have pushed her to the background of pop culture. But with a cameo in Sofia Coppola's Bling Ring and a new album that is nearly complete, Paris is pouncing back into action. As the Hilton heiress would say, "That's hot!"
It was seven years ago that Paris released her last musical effort, her self-titled album, which included the Billboard's Top 10 single "Stars Are Blind." Now, the occasional music artist, who recently signed with Lil Wayne's Cash Money Records, reveals that her follow-up album is "almost finished."
In an interview with The Daily Beast, the socialite shared a few details about her revived music career. "I'm in the studio and almost finished with the album ... they're just finishing up all the paperwork and there will be an announcement soon." Hilton adds, "Lil Wayne and some other surprise guests will be on the album, and it's going to be so sick. It's an electropop album with some dance-y songs."I for one am was a sucker for Paris' 2006 track "Nothing in this World." Despite the obviously auto-tunned vocals, the beat is catchy and the lyrics are a lot of fun. If Paris' future album features tunes anything like her old jams, I know I'll order myself a copy.

In a desperate attempt to regain her relevancy, 2007's Diva of the Year Paris Hilton signed a record deal with Lil Wayne's Cash Money Records. Birdman, Cash Money's CEO, confirmed the news in a tweet: "Welcome@ParisHilton to tha Family.RichgangRichgirl.YMCMB."
“This is a lot different than my first album," Hilton told Showbiz 411. "It’s really going to be house music.”
Hilton will be joining Nicki Minaj and Drake at Cash Money, so we're hoping her house album will feature some fresh verses — what ryhmes with "spoiled"?

Socialite Paris Hilton is set to have a second chance at chart success after signing a new deal with Lil Wayne's record label. The reality TV star released her debut eponymous album in 2006 to mixed reviews, and now she has reportedly signed a contract with the rapper's Cash Money Records to work on a house-themed follow-up.
Taking to Twitter to announce the news, Lil Wayne's rap mentor and Cash Money co-founder Bryan 'Birdman' Williams writes, "Welcome @ParisHilton to tha Family. RichgangRichgirl."
Taylor Swift ruled the 2013 Billboard Music Awards on Sunday (19May13), taking home eight top honours, including the prestigious Artist of the Year. Swift, fun. and Maroon 5 all led the way heading into the Las Vegas ceremony with 11 nods each, but it quickly became clear that the night belonged to the blonde star as she dominated the prizegiving from the offset.
She entered the MGM Grand Garden Arena a six-time winner from the pre-show announcements alone, claiming accolades such as Top Country Artist, Top Country Album for Red and Top Country Song for We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together, while she beat Adele, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj and Carly Rae Jepsen to be named Top Female Artist.
The singer added a further two trophies to her impressive haul during the big event itself, hosted by Tracy Morgan, but she wasn't the only one celebrating - Justin Bieber was another main Billboard honouree.
The Baby hitmaker fought off competition from Drake, Bruno Mars, Flo Rida and Jason Aldean to claim the Top Male Artist award, in addition to the Top Social Artist title and the inaugural Milestone Award, which was voted for by fans.
Other multiple winners included Rihanna, Gotye, One Direction and late Latin singer Jenni Rivera, while Madonna was feted as the Top Touring Artist.
Accepting her honour for her MDNA world tour, the Material Girl said, "They say that it takes a village to raise a child. Well, it took several international villages to put my show together and I would be here all night if I was to specifically thank all the people who were there to walk through the fire with me."
Thanking her fans, she added, "Without you I wouldn't have a show to do and a showgirl needs her fans so thank you for supporting me for three decades. Without you, I truly wouldn't be here."
Music highlights on the night came from the likes of Swift, Selena Gomez, Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne and Chris Brown, while Pitbull doubled up for two sexy performances - first teaming up with a slimmed-down Christina Aguilera for Feel This Moment, with A-ha's very own Morten Harket as their special guest, and then joining Jennifer Lopez for an energetic rendition of Live It Up.
Bieber also hit the stage twice, much to the delight of his fans, performing his solo hit Take You and showing off a robotic dance routine with will.i.am for ThatPower.
Prince, the 2013 recipient of the Icon Award, closed the show in style, rocking out with a medley of his hits, including a slowed-down version of his classic Let's Go Crazy to bring the curtain down on a night of celebrations.

Rapper Future has defended his collaborator Lil Wayne over the controversial lyrics about slain black teenager Emmett Till in his latest track Karate Chop, insisting the hip-hop star actually highlighted an important issue in the song. In an unauthorised remix of Future's song, Lil Wayne makes reference to Till, who was pistol-whipped and murdered in 1955 for flirting with a white girl in America's Deep South, rapping, "Beat the p**sy up like Emmett Till."
His words infuriated the civil rights icon's family and the Lollipop hitmaker was subsequently dropped as spokesman for Mountain Dew soda by bosses at parent company PepsiCola.
However, Future, real name Nayvadius Cash, has spoken out to defend his friend, claiming that despite the negative attention the song attracted, the lyrics actually raised awareness of civil rights history.
He tells radio station Power106 FM, "I never thought it was going to get so much attention, but I think overall, the whole situation, he did bring light in a positive way to what happened. Even though they probably thought it was negative, he brought positive energy to the situation because a lot of people don’t even know (who Emmett Till was)...
"He raised awareness to people who didn’t even know Emmett Till. The young kids that never even knew what happened to him… I don’t believe he in any way, form, or fashion did it out of disrespect toward the family."
Rapper Drake looks set to dominate the upcoming BET Awards after landing 12 nominations. The Best I Ever Had hitmaker received five nods in the category of Video of the Year, with his promos for Started From The Bottom, HYFR (with Lil Wayne), No Lie (with 2 Chainz), Poetic Justice (with Kendrick Lamar), and Problems all getting nods, while he'll compete with collaborators A$AP Rocky, 2 Chainz and Lamar in the Best Collaboration category.
In addition, Drake's Problems and Started From The Bottom are up for the Coca-Cola Viewers Choice Award, and he'll also battle with Lamar, Future, 2 Chainz, and A$AP Rocky for the title of Best Male Hip Hop Artist. The Best Female Hip Hop Artist trophy will be a fight between Nicki Minaj, Eve, Rasheeda, Rye Rye, and Azealia Banks.
Other nominees include Beyonce, who will duke it out with Rihanna, Alicia Keys, Tamar Braxton, and Elle Varner for Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, and Chris Brown, Usher, Justin Timberlake, Bruno Mars, and Miguel, who will battle to become the Best Male R&B/Pop Artist.
Meanwhile, Angela Bassett, Halle Berry, Taraji P. Henson, Gabrielle Union, Kerry Washington, Don Cheadle, Common, Jamie Foxx, Samuel L. Jackson, and Denzel Washington will do battle for the top acting nods, and Beasts of the Southern Wild, Django Unchained, Something from Nothing: The Art of Rap, Sparkle, and Think Like A Man are up for Best Movie.
The winners will be announced during the Los Angeles ceremony, hosted by Chris Tucker, on 30 June (13).
Rapper 2 Chainz is heading out on tour with Lil Wayne and T.I. after fellow hip-hop star Future dropped out of the summer trek. Ciara's new boyfriend was recently announced as a support act on the upcoming America's Most Wanted Tour, but he has since been replaced by 2 Chainz.
Revealing the line-up change, co-headliner T.I. says, "Something happened and Future pulled - he disassociated himself from the tour for whatever reason, and it's still love - ain't no problem with that. Now Chainz on there (sic)."
The joint tour is due to kick off in Alabama on 9 July (13).
