Rockers Tommy Lee and Pete Wentz have formed an unlikely bond over their shared love of cooking. The Fall Out Boy star sharpened his kitchen skills following his split from wife Ashlee Simpson in 2011 so he could adequately care for their son Bronx Mowgli.
He was so keen to expand his expertise that he turned to his friends for help and advice, and even urged the Motley Crue drummer to hand over the recipe for an egg dish he showed off online.
Wentz tells Q magazine, "Until I was 30 I couldn't cook. But then I was a single dad, so I thought, 'I'm gonna get good enough for this.' I got a skillet, and I got these really goofy 'cooking for kids' cookbooks...
"I'll get obsessed with something and want to perfect that thing. (I) really wanted to know how to poach an egg... (Lee had) this crazy 'eggs in hell' dish. I got in touch and asked him how he did it, and he sent me the recipe. I did think, 'This is weird - Tommy Lee just sent me an egg recipe.'"
Rockers Fall Out Boy planned to buy a vineyard but abandoned the project after realising they had no passion for wine-making. The Dance, Dance hitmakers wanted to invest some of their earnings and launch their own drinks range but the idea faded away when the size of the undertaking hit home.
Bassist Pete Wentz tells Q magazine, "It probably would've been a bad idea. The thing I've learned about going into other fields is that you have to respect the art of what's there. You can't go in and say, 'We'll stomp on some grapes, slap a label on it and it'll be great!'"
Rocker Pete Wentz proved he has a strong stomach when he downed a glass of snake's blood during a trip to Taiwan. The Fall Out Boy star and his bandmates visited the capital Taipei's famous Snake Alley market, where he drank a vile concoction of reptile blood mixed with wine.
He tells Q magazine, "(It was) in a place called Snake Alley. They show you the snake alive, and then you start with wine, then you drink the venom, you drink the sperm, and end it with some kind of ginseng energy thing. It's meant to make you invigorated, and we were f**king pumped."
"It's amazing... I can't even tell you how incredible that child is. He's been a blessing in my life and I've learned so much from him... He's my friend, we became like homies. He was so excited when we got married... He loves Mama D (Diana Ross), so that's good." Diana Ross' actor/singer son Evan Ross has formed a strong bond with his stepson Bronx, his new wife Ashlee Simpson's child from her first marriage to rocker Pete Wentz. Ross and Simpson are expecting a child of their own, a daughter, this summer (15).
"I did not realise that it was going to involve, like, burning my scalp. The maintenance is insane. This might be the end of the process." Rocker Pete Wentz is considering ditching his platinum blond look after bleaching his hair six months ago.
U.S. rockers Fall Out Boy wrote several songs for boyband One Direction but the pop group snubbed the tracks because they sounded too odd. The band hooked up with the Live While We're Young hitmakers during a trip to London and they tried to collaborate on some new music, but their efforts never made the cut.
Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz is convinced the songs were a little too offbeat for the pop band, telling Britain's Daily Star newspaper, "Last time we were in London we wrote with the guys in One Direction. It was a great session but I don't know if Fall Out Boy writes what One Direction wants to sing.
"There's a certain area of odd that we can stake a place in, but it's like we have the language of twins. Maybe it's too odd for One Direction because they didn't end up using the songs this time."
“I thought it was a forever thing. At the same time, we were both really young. Being too young... I think there’s an important thing where you know how to fight. You can fight with somebody but it’s not the end of everything. But if you don’t know how to have those arguments then they become nuclear. And we were doing this all in the public eye, which doesn’t help." Fall Out Boy star Pete Wentz fears he and ex-wife Ashlee Simpson wed too young.
Fall Out Boy singer Patrick Stump still regrets posting a desperate letter on his personal blog about his failed 2011 solo tour - because many fans thought it was a suicide note. The rocker ran out of cash and had to abandon a string of shows, and also told fans he was tired of taunts about his drastic weightloss at concerts.
But the tone of the letter left many fearing Stump was contemplating taking his own life.
He tells Rolling Stone magazine, "People genuinely thought it was a suicide note. Every part of me wishes I hadn't written that thing."
But one good thing came from the desperate letter - it inspired his bandmate Pete Wentz to reach out to his old pal and end the group's hiatus.
Actresses Bette Midler and Julianne Moore are among the stars who have expressed their sorrow and heartbreak after gunmen shot and killed 12 staff members at French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo on Wednesday (07Jan15). At least two suspects stormed the publication's Paris offices and opened fire, gunning down 12 people and leaving four others critically injured in what French President Francois Hollande has branded a "terrorist attack".
Editors of the weekly Charlie Hebdo magazine have previously published controversial cartoons of the Muslim Prophet Mohammed, infuriating devout members of Islam as depictions of religious figures are typically frowned upon. Wednesday's attack is believed to be related to that controversy.
The tragedy has prompted an outpouring of sympathy and support from a slew of celebrities, with Moore taking to Twitter.com to write, "I am heartbroken by the loss of life and attack on freedom of expression", while Midler posts, "There are no words. How many times have we said that in the last few years? Religious war comes to the doors of our homes. I think I have to go light some candles and say some prayers."
French actor Gilles Marini has shared his outrage in a series of posts, which read: "Shame on what happened in France today. Governments around the world TOGETHER must stop those vermin". He then adds, "To all Fanatics, extremist and devil (sic) that believe that God ask them to do that (sic). You're wrong and manipulated."
An angry Moby writes, "islamic extremists are willing to kill innocent people over CARTOONS?? what the f**k? what sort of deity can't handle a cartoon? here are some options if you're offended by a cartoon: a-don't look at it. or b-make a funnier cartoon. killing people is not an option".
Singer Josh Groban tweets, "My heart goes out to the French people and the city of Paris on this horrible day. This is an attack on us all and we are with you", and his actress girlfriend Kat Dennings adds, "Paris! My heart goes out to you and everyone affected by this horrific attack. I love you all."
Others who have tweeted about the shooting include Jamie Lee Curtis, Elijah Wood, Nancy Sinatra, Pete Wentz, OneRepublic, Nicki Minaj and Nicky Hilton.
As WENN went to press, the gunmen were still at large.
Among the dead are Charlie Hebdo founder Georges Wolinski and fellow famed cartoonists Jean 'Cabu' Cabut, Stephane 'Charb' Charbonnier and Bernard 'Tignous' Verlhac.
Ashlee Simpson is pregnant for the second time, according to U.S. reports. Jessica Simpson's sister wed actor Evan Ross in August (14) and the couple is now expecting its first child.
If the Eonline.com reports are true, this will be Simpson's second child - she shares six-year-old son Bronx Mowgli with ex-husband Pete Wentz.
Wentz and Simpson divorced in 2011.
Began dating in the fall of 2006; Announced engagement in April 2008; Married on May 17, 2008 at her parents' home in Los Angeles, CA; Simpson filed for divorce in February 2011; Divorce finalized on Nov. 22, 2011
