Australian actress Ada Nicodemou is pregnant with her second child after spending years struggling to conceive. The Home and Away star and her husband Chrys Xipolitas welcomed their first child, a son named Johnas, in 2012 after a long battle with in vitro fertilisation (IVF) treatments.
The actress has now confirmed she is pregnant for a second time after repeating the IVF cycle.
She tells Australia's New Idea magazine, "For it to happen so quickly after we struggled for so long is a really nice surprise and we feel really, really lucky."
The Home and Away star and her husband Chrys Xipolitas, who briefly split in 2010, have been secretly trying for a baby for a year but turned to IVF when their attempts failed.
Nicodemou fell pregnant on the first course of the treatment and the couple is looking forward to becoming parents in August (12).
The actress tells New Idea magazine, "We'd been trying for a year... and I was so focused on getting pregnant I couldn't think of anyone else - it's all I've been talking about for years.
"In the end, IVF was seriously the best thing we did. It doesn't usually happen on the first go and we didn't want to get our hopes up too much, but we were very lucky. I'm really looking forward to it - I just wish we didn't have to wait another 27 weeks!
"Everything happens for a reason. This is the right time for us to have a baby. We've been through some difficulties and come out all the stronger."
The Home and Away star was photographed without her wedding ring in April (10), sparking speculation she had separated from Chrys Xipolitas, who she married in 2007.
Following their break-up Xipolitas, who has battled depression, checked himself into a rehabilitation centre to overcome his issues.
Now Nicodemou has put the pair's troubles behind them - the actress wore her wedding band at the Logie Awards on Sunday (02May10) and the pair was spotted enjoying a romantic dinner in Sydney the following day (03May10).
A restaurant onlooker tells the Sydney Daily Telegraph, "They looked happy. They weren't kissing and all over each other, but they were relaxed and comfortable."
