Actor Ben Affleck is set to be honoured for his humanitarian work by organisers at the Save the Children charity. The Gone Girl star's wife, Jennifer Garner, will present him with the the Global Child Advocate Award for his work in "promoting maternal and child health in the Democratic Republic of Congo" at the Save the Children Illumination Gala in New York on 19 November (14).
The second annual event will benefit the organisation's mission to end preventable maternal, newborn and child deaths and support early childhood education, according to BroadwayWorld.com.
Country star Trisha Yearwood will perform at the gala, while film producer Austin Hearst and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair will also be among the honourees.
Save the Children president and CEO Carolyn Miles says, "This year's gala honourees share an unwavering commitment to giving children living in the poorest, toughest places on earth a stronger start in life. Through their work, more babies and toddlers are getting the right health care, early learning opportunities, and a greater chance to reach their full potential."
