So, there's a lot of heavy breathing and buildings tumbling down in the first teaser trailer for director Gareth Edwards' Godzilla, and that's about it. Okay, so there's a little bit more, but not enough for us to piece together what the hell is going on besides the vague outline of "Godzilla" terrorizing the city of New York... and Elizabeth Olsen. (It looks like the Godzilla reboot is holding out on showing us the entirety of its beast like the The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug did with its titular character.)
Basically, it seems like they've got the action and energy ready to go. But as far as a cohesive plotline or themes... well, you're just going to have to cross your fingers and hope that the next trailer lends more insight into that area.
Watch Aaron Taylor-Johnson bat his long eye-lashes, Olsen duck for cover, Bryan Cranston glare in horror, and soldiers jump out of a plane in a pretty epic skydiving scene in the trailer below:

We've reached a brave new world of movie marketing, where there are trailers for the trailers and where a film's marketing is preceeded by marketing for the upcoming marketing. It's all a bit much at times, but those hungry for any morsel of info about the the upcoming Godzilla film can take a gander at the latest viral video for the film. Don't get your hopes up for too many concrete answers; this new video is a quick 12 seconds of mostly static and hazy video artifacts, although the one shot that breaks through the white noise seems to show a troop of soldiers opening huge doors to reveal... something. So our standing question: what can this mystery thing be? Hopefully the full trailer, which is set to premiere Tuesday, can clear up some of the fuzzy details from the video.
For the extra curious, the link mutoresearch.net that briefly flashes on the screen during the clip takes you to the film's viral site, which takes the form of a well-produced mock-up of a command center for whatever the M.U.T.O organization is. While there, you can type different commands into a bar at the bottom to plum around for more secrets. Poking around this "research site" feels like you're breaking into some secure government database — if secure government databases had Twitter and Facebook intergration. Check out the video and viral site, and see what secrets you can uncover before the official Godzilla trailer comes stomping through the internet tomorrow. The Godzilla reboot stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ken Watanabe, Elizabeth Olsen, and will open in theaters on May 16, 2014.
"I want to do a really vulgar comedy next." Actress Elizabeth Olsen would love to shed her clean-cut image and show off her dirty sense of humour onscreen after she completes work on upcoming blockbusters The Avengers: Age of Ultron and the Godzilla reboot.
"I want to be part of his posse from now on." Actress Elizabeth Olsen is eager to reteam with Spike Lee on future projects after starring in the director's new thriller Oldboy, a remake of the 2003 Korean cult classic.
Actress Elizabeth Olsen has no problem stripping off on camera because she only chooses to disrobe for roles which make her feel empowered. The 24-year-old beauty, younger sister of twin fashion moguls Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, bared all for scenes in the critically-acclaimed Martha Marcy May Marlene in 2011, and she has taken off her clothes once again for director Spike Lee's remake of cult Korean thriller Oldboy, in which she engages in love scenes with leading man Josh Brolin.
However, Olsen insists there is never anything sexy about the scenes she gets naked for.
She tells the New York Daily News, "I truly believe in the films I've chosen to be nude (in). It helps tell a more grotesque story. There's nothing gratuitous about it, and it creates the opposite of pleasure. I find it empowering."
Olsen recently told WENN she really felt for her Oldboy co-star Brolin during their sex scenes, because she is just five years older than his daughter, Eden.
She said, "It was probably weirder for him than for me because he has a daughter my age, so I'm sure that was weird for both of them."
Child star-turned-fashion designer Ashley Olsen has been elected onto the board of the Council of Fashion Designers of America. The star runs clothing labels including The Row and Elizabeth and James with her twin sister Mary-Kate.
Actress Elizabeth Olsen has confirmed reports she has joined the cast of The Avengers sequel Age of Ultron. Samuel L. Jackson let it slip that the Martha Marcy May Marlene star had landed the role of Scarlet Witch in the film last month (Oct13), and now she is speaking out about joining the superhero film franchise.
She'll team up with Aaron Taylor-Johnson - her co-star in upcoming monster movie Godzilla - who will play her twin brother Quicksilver in The Avengers movie.
She says, "We get to play husband and wife (in Godzilla), and we get to play twin brother and sister. It's also fun because even though in Godzilla we play husband and wife, we don't have a lot of scenes together. I just love him. I love his family. I love his kids. I'm so excited... I think it's going to be fun."
Olsen also can't wait to start working with director Joss Whedon, adding, "He's very smart. He's too smart. He might be too smart. Some people are too smart for their own good, but he's amazing."
Actress Elizabeth Olsen will not be sitting through the screening of her new movie Old Boy at its New York premiere on Monday night (11Nov13) because she has learned she is not a fan of watching herself on screen. The Martha Marcy May Marlene star will walk the red carpet with co-stars Michael Imperioli and Josh Brolin and director Spike Lee, but then she'll be heading home.
She tells WENN, "I haven't seen the film in its final form. I saw it in one of it's earlier versions before sound and colour correction, but I'm not gonna watch it tonight. It's the first time I'm at a premiere and not sitting through the movie.
"I learned in Toronto (at the film festival) that I really don't enjoy watching myself do those things in front of an audience. And I'm tired. I finished a seven-week run of a play yesterday and I really just want to go home after doing my business at the premiere."
Actress Elizabeth Olsen really felt for Old Boy co-star Josh Brolin during their lovemaking scenes in the film - because she's the same age as his daughter. The younger sister of the Olsen Twins admits she was a lot more comfortable than Brolin because she had a promise from director Spike Lee that she would not appear completely nude onscreen - but she accepts the sex scenes must have been tough on the W star.
Speaking before the film's New York premiere on Monday (11Nov13), the 24 year old tells WENN, "It was probably weirder for him than for me because he has a daughter my age, so I'm sure that was weird for both of them.
"By the time we had to do all that awkward stuff, that was way down the line of shooting. We were already like a family with the crew and Spike. It wasn't something that was beaten around the bush. In our first meeting Spike said, 'What are we doing about that?' I'm like, 'OK, I guess we're talking about this now, which makes it easier'. He just wanted to know what I'm cool with and what I'm not cool with. What would be off limits is showing (my genitals)... but apparently everything else was a go. That's all he wanted to know.
"He and I are both very direct people. If this is what you're not getting just say it; you're not gonna offend me. I think it's because we're all kind of athletic in a way and we all respond to things that way and that's how he directs and I appreciate that. He's the most collaborative man I've ever worked with."
Actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson has been confirmed to play Quicksilver in the new Avengers film. The Kick-Ass star has been the rumoured frontrunner for the role since June (13), but a scheduling conflict with the Godzilla reboot movie, which Taylor-Johnson also stars in, almost derailed his chances of appearing in The Avengers: Age of Ultron.
However, the issue has reportedly been worked out and Taylor-Johnson will take on the superhero role, according to TheWrap.com.
Quicksilver is the twin brother of the Scarlet Witch, who will be played by Elizabeth Olsen.
The Avengers: Age of Ultron, which also stars Robert Downey Jr, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson and Samuel L. Jackson, is set to hit theatres in 2015.
