Twilight took the world by storm in 2008 and had fans around the globe fighting about Team Edward vs. Team Jacob. We all fell in love with Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner in this film saga – but could you imagine anyone else playing them? What would Twilight have been like with a different Bella Swan? If just one of these 14 actors were cast instead of the crew we know and love, the series would have been completely different.
In The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, this beloved hottie was actually considered for the role of Riley. It eventually went to Australian newcomer Xaiver Samuel.
We think J. Law would have been the better Bella (please don't shoot us Twihards) but then we know she wouldn't have had the time to be Katniss Everdeen. And that would have been a true American tragedy. So we're happy she wasn't cast as the lead in this series, because that means everything would be different and scary.
This Harry Potter star almost crossed over series and worked in the Twilight saga. He was also considered for Jane's twin Alec as well, but he was too old to portray that character. As you may remember, Alec and Jane are supposed to look like preteens which Tom Felton cannot pull off.
Obviously James Franco's little bro didn't get the part. We feel bad for all the guys who tried out for Edward, because it's impossible to compete with Robert Pattinson.
We think Vanessa could have tried out for Bella as well, but she actually tried out for this member of the werewolf/shapeshifter clan.
Michelle was one of many actresses considered for the role of Bella, but was ultimately passed on.
She auditioned for this New Moon role, but lucky for her she didn't get it. Had she, we think Lucy wouldn't have had the time to audition for Pretty Little Liars and where would we be without our Aria? She was also later considered to portray Leah Clearwater, but also did not recieve that role.
He auditioned for the role in New Moon, but it went to Michael Sheen. We all can agree that the right choice was made here. Ben is just too cute to play the evil Aro.
She opened up about the part she didn't get by saying: "Yeah, one of my first auditions actually was for Twilight which is really funny now thinking about it. ... I think every young actor or actress in Hollywood starts to read some of the same material but I think everything happens for a reason and everyone who gets the roles they get were meant to. I’m a firm believer in that.”
Remember when they were going to replace Jacob Black in New Moon for someone "bigger"? Michael Copon was considered, but thankfully Taylor Lautner buffed up and we didn't need to see him recast.
It seems like almost all of Hollywood was considered for the role of Bella Swan. We wonder if Kristen Stewart knew that when she landed the role?
Diego Luna was actually offered the role of Aro, but he turned it down.
So Michael Welch did land a Twilight role, but not the one he originally went in for. We think he was much better suited for the "friend role" as Mike.
We would have loved J. Law as Bella, but then we’d be without our Katniss, and that’s something we couldn’t handle. We’re very happy that the casting directors choose Robert Pattinson as our Edward, because we wouldn’t have it any other way. Actually, if author Stephanie Meyer had gotten her way, Henry Cavill would have been Edward and that is someone we could have supported.
