Adam Johnson wins 2013 Pulitzer Prize for fiction

The Orphan Master’s Son, author Adam Johnson’s novel about North Korea, has been chosen to receive this year’s (13) Pulitzer Prize for fiction. Calling Johnson’s book an “exquisitely crafted novel that carries the reader on an adventuresome journey into the depths of totalitarian North Korea and into the most intimate spaces of the human heart,” the members of the Pulitzer panel announced the big news on Monday (15Apr13).
Other Pulitzer winners include Embers of War: The Fall of an Empire and the Making of America’s Vietnam by Fredrik Logevall (History); The Black Count: Glory, Revolution, Betrayal, and the Real Count of Monte Cristo by Tom Reiss (Biography); Stag’s Leap by Sharon Olds (Poetry), and Caroline Shaw’s Partita for 8 Voices (Music).
