Biography

Al Foster worked in a variety of genres and built up a diverse and reputable career. Foster kicked off his Hollywood career by acting in action flicks like the Lenore Zann film "Def-Con 4" (1985), "Rapid Fire" (1992) starring Brandon Lee and "Sneakers" (1992) with Robert Redford and Sidney Poitier. He appeared in a number of television specials, including "Newport Jazz '88" (1988-89), "Miles and Friends" (1991-92) and "Carnegie Hall Salutes the Jazz Masters" (1993-94). His work around this time also included a part on the TV movie "Tyson" (1994-95). Following that project, Foster worked on mostly television programs, including "Diagnosis Murder" (1993-2001), "3rd Rock From the Sun" (1995-2001) and "Providence" (1998-2003). Recently, he tackled roles on "The District" (2000-04), "L.A. Dragnet" (2002-04) and "House" (2004-2012). He also was featured in the TV movie "Wishmaster 2: Evil Never Dies" (1998-99). He also appeared as Coach Hiserman in the Sanaa Lathan sports drama "Love & Basketball" (2000). Foster last acted on "Smith" (2006-07).
