A native of Brooklyn, Michaels grew up a die hard Brooklyn Dodgers fan. Strangely enough, in 1958 he moved with his family to Los Angeles, California -- the same year the Dodgers relocated to the City of Angels.

Michaels' very first job in sports came in 1964 when he was hired to work in the Los Angeles Lakers' public relations department.

Michaels' called the now iconic "Miracle on Ice" hockey game between the U.S. and Soviet Union at the 1980 Winter Olympics, where he uttered the now memorable line: "Do you believe in miracles? Yes!"
