Alejandro Sanz and Juanes to headline diversity concert

Hispanic stars Alejandro Sanz, Juanes, and Carlos Vives are among the headliners for a big California concert to celebrate diversity and unity.
Miguel Bose, Los Tigres del Norte, Luis Coronel, Fonseca, Jesse & Joy, and Calle 13’s Residente have also joined the bill for the Rise Up as One gig, which is set to be staged in San Diego, close to the U.S. border with Mexico, on 15 October (16).
The show will also feature special appearances from actors Gael García Bernal and Wilmer Valderrama among others, and will be broadcast live on cable channels Univision Network and Fusion.
Other artists set to perform include Lila Downs, Andra Day, and Lupillo Rivera, while Alejandra Espinoza and Jorge Ramo will co-host the bash.
The concert will be timely – it will take place just weeks before the U.S. presidential election on 8 November (16), when Democrat Hillary Clinton will face off with Republican rival Donald Trump for the White House.
Trump has found himself under attack from many in the Latin community after launching his bid for the presidency last year (15) by branding all illegal Mexican immigrants in the U.S. rapists and criminals.
Among his celebrity critics are Bernal, Marc Anthony, director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, John Leguizamo, Eva Longoria, Ricky Martin and Pitbull, who have all spoken out to condemn the real estate mogul and reality star for his callous comments.
