Alex Beckett dead at 35

Welsh actor Alex Beckett has died at the age of 35.
Beckett’s acting agent Gavin Denton-Jones announced his sudden death on Thursday (12Apr18) in a statement which reads, “We’re deeply saddened by the loss of Alex – a wonderful man and a hugely talented actor. Our thoughts are with his family and we kindly ask that their privacy be respected at this difficult time.”
Beckett is best known for playing Barney Lumsden in BBC comedies W1A and Twenty Twelve alongside Hugh Bonneville and Jessica Hynes, who tweeted, “Alex Beckett was a wonderful, clever, kind, brilliant person – so glad to have known him, so sad he is gone.”
Beckett also appeared on TV in I Live with Models, The End of the F***ing World, The Scandalous Lady W, and A Touch of Cloth, and in films such as Youth, Survivor, and the upcoming historical drama Mary Queen of Scots, which stars Saoirse Ronan and Margot Robbie.
He was expected to be performing in play The Way of the World at the Donmar Warehouse theatre in London until the end of May. Theatre bosses issued a statement announcing that they had cancelled the week’s remaining performances as “a mark of respect” to Beckett and to give some time to the rest of the cast and crew.
“We are deeply shocked by the tragic loss of our dear friend and brilliant actor Alex Beckett, a much-loved member of The Way of the World company. Our thoughts are with his family and close friends at this incredibly sad time,” Donmar Warehouse representatives said. “Everyone at the Donmar and The Way of the World company are completely devastated by this terribly sad news.”
His cause of death has not been announced.
