Alex Kurtzman to direct The Mummy reboot

Transformers screenwriter Alex Kurtzman is in final negotiations to direct the reboot of hit franchise The Mummy. Kurtzman, along with his partners Chris Morgan and Sean Daniel, is already producing the action adventure, and now executives at Universal Pictures are closing a deal for him to helm it as well.
Co-president of production Jeff Kirschenbaum tells The Hollywood Reporter that Kurtzman is the “perfect choice” for the project, thanks to his “clarity and passion about this character and mythology”.
Details of The Mummy reboot are under wraps, but the film is set in the present day and features new characters.
Kurtzman is the third director to be linked to The Mummy – both Len Wiseman and Mama filmmaker Andy Muschietti were previously attached to direct the film.
The reboot is slated to hit cinemas on April, 2016.
