Actress Aloma Wright is best known as the sardonic nurse Laverne Roberts on the NBC hit comedy "Scrubs. " After graduating from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts she worked mostly on the stage and was a member of the touring companies of "Ain't Misbehavin'" and "The Gospel Truth." Her ability to play tough-love, no-nonsense characters led her to often be cast as judges ("Ally McBeal," "Judging Amy"), secretaries ("Devil in the Flesh," "The Trouble with Normal"), and, of course, nurses ("Shadow Hours," "Malcolm in the Middle," "Scrubs," and others). Her popular character on "Scrubs" was killed off under the assumption that the show might be cancelled, but Wright was brought back to the series after it was picked up for another season. In 2008 she became a regular cast member of the hospital-themed daytime soap opera "Days of Our Lives," playing the part of Nurse Maxine. In addition to acting she has produced work at the Stage 52 Theatre in Los Angeles.
