Alyssa Milano and Cheryl Hines Front Anti-Harassment Campaign

Alyssa Milano and Cheryl Hines are fronting a new campaign urging people to speak up over sexual assault.

The actresses have teamed with The Creative Coalition on a minute-long video, released on Tuesday (19Dec17), to shine a spotlight on the topic, in light of allegations of harassment and assault aimed at producer Harvey Weinstein, and other Hollywood figures such as Kevin Spacey, James Toback and Brett Ratner.

Building on the #MeToo online movement Milano has been involved in, the Public Service Announcement (PSA)-style campaign has the slogan #KeepTellingPeople and sees a montage of celebrities beg people affected by, or witnessing, inappropriate behavior to voice their concerns, with the message “keep telling people” repeated over and over.

“As a nation, we must address practices and attitudes that have become far too prevalent and widely-accepted. I’m honored to play a part in the efforts to change a terrible cultural norm,” said Milano in a statement, while Hines added: “We’re fortunate to have these amazing actors and influencers join forces with The Creative Coalition to give a voice to this campaign.”

Other stars to back the concept include Madam Secretary’s Tim Daly, Black-ish’s Wanda Sykes, Supergirl’s Chad Lowe, Orange Is the New Black’s Lea DeLaria and The GoldbergsSean Giambrone, among others.

In addition to the video, The Creative Coalition is looking to work with leading national nonprofit organizations to use the unique power and platform of the entertainment industry to drive positive social welfare change.

“By furthering discussion of this heartbreaking issue, we hope to be a catalyst for change,” shared Daly, who is also the president of The Creative Coalition. “It is vital that we act now.”

Milano has previously claimed to have been the victim of sexual harassment, recently telling Good Morning America that she has been targeted “so many times I can’t count”.
