Biography

After early credits that included singing and presenting on children's television shows, Anke Engelke appeared on "Die Wochenshow," a mid-'90s weekly news satire that proved very popular in its native Germany. This was followed by more comedy, including the sketch show "Ladykracher," the "Blind Date" series of made-for-TV movies that served as her writing and directing debut, and voice-over roles in popular imported films such as "Finding Nemo." During the mid-2000s, Engelke lent her voice to "Impy's Island," a computer-animated feature from Germany about talking animals who thaw out a dinosaur, and began showing a more serious side in latter seasons of "Kommissarin Lucas," a crime series.
