Anna Wintour: ‘It would be impossible to recreate the Met Gala via livestream’

Vogue magazine editor-in-chief Anna Wintour wants fans to be clear that Monday’s (May 4, 2020) A Moment With the Met live stream will not recreate the planned Met Gala event.

Back in March, it was confirmed that fashion’s biggest night, which this year was to be guest-hosted by Meryl Streep and Nicolas Ghesquiere, alongside regular host and Conde Nast artistic director Anna, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, was to be rescheduled due to the COVID-19 crisis.

In its place, officials are putting on the A Moment With the Met live stream – looking back at highlights from previous Met Gala’s in place of the main event.

However, Anna revealed the broadcast won’t attempt to recreate the Met Gala – as that would be “impossible”.

“It would be impossible to recreate the gala on Monday evening, though I have loved hearing how so many are marking the occasion in their own ways,” she said, reported E! News.

“So instead, I asked a few friends to join me for a simple moment—one that I hope will bring us all a bit of joy.”

Throughout the day, the publication will look back at the best moments from the Met Gala’s past, and the day will conclude with A Moment With the Met, available exclusively on YouTube.

Liza Koshy’s Best Red Carpet Moments will begin at 10 am ET, while Naomi Campbell will be the subject of a Life in Looks broadcast, which begins at 3 pm ET.

The A Moment With the Met live stream starts at 6 pm ET, followed by Everything You Need to Know About the Met Gala, which will begin after at 7 pm ET.
